  • wow hes going slow, for something that's pre rounded like that you should start at 600-800 and once roughed go to 1000-1500RPM.

  • He REALLY needs to stop telling people to start with a slow speed. Drive it like you stole it. Go take a class from a real woodturner. BTW, that lathe is a peice of crap. He needs to get rid of all that worthless factory toolrest/banjo.

  • @JACOBEZ18 I agree. Slow speed produces a rough cut. You want to start slow for the first few passes then speed it up to produce a smoother cut, then use sand paper finishing with steel wool for the smooth finish. I just turned a 11/2" square piece of Cedar. Started slow to knock the edges down then increased the speed til round.

  • Informative - thanks for the information some really good tips! I have been turning for some time and built my own lathe but I never thought about a video showing this information. I'll send people here when they have questions!
