  • I never heard of her until now But I like her sound.

  • wow she looks a lot like Princess Diana

  • WIKIPEDIA SAYS:

Sandy Posey (born June 18, 1944)[1] is an American popular singer, Do you know which is correct. Do you know which is correct, that or the 1947 date you have listed above?

  • @MusicChannel44 Artist Direct dot com has it as 1947. I would guess that is right - artistdirect[DOT]com/artist/bio/sandy-posey/480646

  • @John1948ElevenB Thank you, I do expect it is correct also, considering the sourece.

  • @John1948ElevenB I continued to do some more research on the birth date of Sandy Posey and found that the International Movie Database lists her birth date as June 18, 1944 and it also says

Was prototype for Nashville's country-politan sound of the 1960s.

Nominated for two Grammys in 1962.

Graduated from high school in Memphis, Tennessee in 1962.

That means she graduated when she was 15 and started working at 15. Hmm, I 'm beginning to think 1944 might be the correct date.

  • A great song from the Greaest time of music. what more can be said. I truly miss these times, but becaue of sites like these, we.. from this time period, get to relive the the Greatest time of music.

  • Good song, and great memories when this came out.

  • Just a wonderful, underrated singer!

Senta Berger really murdered this song!

    Sandy's version is sheer perfection!

  • What a really superb song from the 'good ole days'!

  • i also love brenda lee ,and ten years after, so u all understand what im saying,,

  • there were alot of "croosover country back in the 60s i could name alot of them back then all music played on a couple of your local stations one could litterary hear led zeppelin then a johnny cash song right after or the beatles then ronnie dove ,that was the best times for music in my opinion it if was good it played none of this bs today special stations for this age group then that age group we heard all the music so my knowledge of artists and songs is greater,i love sinatra ,and bto

  • I loved this song from the moment I heard it ---1966.

  • its country music

  • actually, this song was never on the country charts for sandy posey..it reached #12 in 1966 on the pop charts. it wasn't until 1971 that she had her first charted country hit, which was 'bring him safely home to me'.

  • I remember this song when I was in high school. My life exactly, as Sandy Posey, sings it. If it had been legal, and I could sing, My title would have been: "The Single Boy."

Thanks for the memories. Doug Archer, San Diego

  • country or not its a nice song and anyway its on my country cd

  • country or not its a nice song

  • I heard this song when it was new and I don't know how some people consider this a country song. I never heard it on anything other than rock n roll stations and several local jukeboxes.

  • @professordumbledorf It was a country cross over hit. I never heard it on country station either - because I didn't listen to country stations. She was a CW singer, recorded this son and it was picked up by rock and pop stations.

  • These bring back memories of listening to my mom and dad's old LP's. I love this old music. It is classic still!

  • My first love played this in her South London bedsit all the time, Kay McC get in touch if you happen to snoop around here. SN

  • this brings me back te 79.... shes classs..

  • ....very much like Skeeter Davis........and Tammy Wynette....!

  • a single guy all alone in the hall at school. a single guy understands bout being a fool. all the girls like somebody older, fear is more real than my body odor. a single guy needs a girl his own age to love on. and now that i have made the first verse of what is sure to be a runaway hit in Mad magazine i invite all my fellows to write verses also. Lets have some fun. laughing.

  • I know all about women and THEIR LIES

  • @w9x7cv3vg6 Somebody ought to write and record Single Man just for balance, you know. It takes TWO sexes plus cynical modern day anti marriage brainwashing to make a world THIS messed up.

  • @BobbyDelRiv I am a female and there are many great songs about single or lonely men out there. I hope you find that RIGHT PERSON for you. I had to kiss a million toads to finally find my prince for the last 16 years. And I was not young. And I had 3 daughters to boot. So hang in my friend. She/He is out there. I promise.. :=))))
