  • Hi! can you please tell me how the heat mat is working for you? is a better choice than a infrared bulb? and also...do you use a uv light? is it good for the frogs? i'm not sure what light is ideal for red eyed frogs (or frogs in general..) . Thank you so much for your reply!

  • what do you use in the plant pots for the planted plants?

  • I rather like that it looks a bit messy, makes it look like a real jungle.

  • do the plants drain??? because i want to make a vivarium and i really dont want to make a gravel floor only peat moss

  • Great tank you did a amazing job on showin. How to make . Were can you buy live moss

  • @297137003 you can buy frog moss at petsmart. Its dormant when you get it but it will start to grow once you plant it.

  • What did you use to create the waterfall? And how did you make it?

  • I haven't had a chance to check out your whole series of these videos so you might have answered this already, but since everything is permanent how do you clean it? If you already covered that just point me to the video that does. Thanks.

  • where do u get the peat moss

  • @alexhardy12

    garden stores :)

  • I would love to know what type of pumps you recommend. How many gallons per hr is the pump shown in this video. Have you done any tanks with a built in "mister" or "fog machine?''

  • @bgtuc84

not sue on the pumps but any are usually good lol.. i have but i have donee a home made one which didnt really work, but i have used a ultrasonic fogger :)

  • Your videos inspired me to make my own vivarium! Great videos and great tanks!!!

    Check out my Vivarium!!

  • Nice job!

Those little frogs will be more than happy to live in that enclosure(i think they already are)

    Thumbs up!

  • @h0med0gg

    ahah thanks heaps

  • i love your videos.im your fan!!!!

  • @MrTiagoSkater

    thank you :)

  • Does the organic material stuck in the black silicone decay and then come the background after a while?

  • @ffej112233

well not for awhile.. but i think eventually everything will decay in time

  • All my ideas can now finnaly be created, I never understood HOW people made the backgrounds, now i can do it myself!!

  • @rainbowrants

thank you im glade it helped

  • Aha i think i might get him a girlfriend then :)

  • @93EmilyWatson

ahah yeah probs a good idea lol

  • Can you do an update video on your vivariums??

  • 35? ouchhh cleaning days sound fun ;] I might get another White's Tree frog (Lola) for the one i have already (arnold) but i'm not sure yet cause they aren't too sociable. I want him to have a girlfriend ahaa :']

  • @93EmilyWatson

ahah yeah claning not fun lol.. but its all part of haveing that many frogs.. yeah your whites tree from you have im guessing is the Australian Green Tree Frog (Litoria caerulea).. i would go for getting another one.. they will be fine together.. i have 3 of them together and there fine.. it would be good to atleast have 2 of them in there :)... lol im sure he would likea girlfriend..

  • Ahh okay, thank you. I followed your 5 video tutorial on the back wall and it takes me a good few hours to clean out D:

  • @93EmilyWatson

ahah yeah. i have over 35 frogs now so cleaning days not much fun lol..

  • How much did this cost you it looks great

  • @mx85ex4440

    umm about $500 - $600 i think

  • I knowww someone's already asked but really, how doooo you clean it?

  • @93EmilyWatson

Hi, yeah with great difficulty and takes a long time lol.. with all the tanks i have its an all day job

    Cheers

  • awsome video!!! i am making a vivarium in my 125 gallon tank, wasnt sure how to do it but your video was very informational...............thanks

  • do you have red eyed green tree frogs?

  • hey, looks great.

Where did you get the wall background? Did you make it yourself?

  • how many it cost you?

  • what are you using for a filter/pump?

  • What did you use as potting soil for the plants? I'm making a live plant terrarium (no animals) and I wasn't sure of the substrate I should use. I have some of that ground up coconut husk "soil", but I don't know if that has enough nutrients to it. Maybe I should make a mix with regular garden potting soil? I need a separate soil mix for my carnivorous plants though.

  • Well what can I say... YOU ROCK AT THIS!!!!! :D

  • I love the videos and the vivarium! I have an exo terra 18x18x18 coming in the mail right now and i was thinking about replicating your idea but it might end up being too complicated for me, i was wondering if i did decide to just use the foam background it comes with how i could get live plants attached or something other than simply planting them in the bottom soil? Any advice appreciated!

  • excelent job...

im going to make one for my snakes 1st i think... but doing the same as what uve done (minus all the plants, and obv not the plant pots, but making like caves and stuff for them to go in and out :P...

what do you recon the easiest way for making the caves would be?? coz obv i would need to cover that all up inside!! cheeers

  • I was wondering if you could just give a list of all the plants you uses and what sizes.

  • First off I wanted to say this looks incredible and it is by far the best vivarium tutorial I have found!!

You have just made it a lot easier to design my crested gecko vivarium. I do have two questions though.

The plants are in pots, so how well do they drain out?

What do you do about feces? Does it just decompose?

  • hiya, will this type of setup be sutible for a crested gecko coz ive had my eye on a crestie for a long time and this type of setup looks really attractive. ty

  • 23gnomeboy- I'm sure it would be just leave out the water part. Cresties don't need running water.

  • nwtampaguy34

the styrofoam is used only so u dont hafta see the spray foam from the outside of the tank. personaly, i just coat the sides of the tank thoroughly with the black sylacone....

  • also do u really need the styrofoam in the back. cant you just use the spray foam?

  • are u sure this is non toxic. i understand you let it air out for a few day and you dont need high heat for most frogs. But are you sure that all the fumes will be out and when it gets wet it must expel more fumes i would think? i would like to get some dart frogs and would love to do this but am so unsure if its a good idea.

  • hello again!

do u have any good suggestions for any plants for my vivarium???

  • oh and i forgot to ask i dont have frogs or anything so do you feed them live pray is there anychance the live pray could eat the foam then your reptiles eating that and so forth.

  • I have a couple of questions i would like to ask lol

    1. Cleaning how do you clean it could you do a video on that please if possible.

1.1 How can i make this for my scoprions but make it easy to clean.

    2. How did you design the water fall cause i want one with a little stream.

Am doing all this in a wooden vivarium so am wondering how i can do it because i want something to enjoy looking at and your was enjoyable to look at :P

I'm now getting plants for mine

    Thanxs for the tips!

  • how do you clean it

  • @spoofsondemand

its a hassle let me tell you lol

  • What should the tempature be? and how high should the humidity be, in the frog vivarium?

  • @SmallSpoons

depends on what type of frogs you have in your viv. what kind where you thinking of getting?

  • @JesseAKASlick i was thinkg about getting a whites tree frog or just a green tree frog, and ty for the reply

  • @SmallSpoons

ahh yea there a frog from Australia more commonly know as Green tree frogs here lol.. yea there an easy frog to keep i just got some like 3 days ago.. well i dont heat there tank cos it warm inside.. they need quite a big tanks as they get big and clim every where and all they need is the UV A & B light and they should be fine

  • thanks

    another question

what is that big plant to the right of the vivarium called?

  • @MetallicaSk8r95

that would be a umbrella plant

  • Comment removed

  • o i dont mean the brown thick vines

i ment ur live green vines

  • ahh sorry.. that would be the ficus pumila / creeping fig im pretty sure

  • watia mean by a false bottom vivarium

  • hi, very nice done, 5*! :)

and a question to you, which little frogs I can have in a 30x30x45centimeters exo terra? If there are no ones, then i´ll go create a little rainfoest without animals :)

thx for answer and sorry for my simple english, i am german ;)

    greets to you!

  • hey mate sorry bout late reply my internet has been out for a few days.. umm depending on where you live will determine what type of frogs you can have.. do you live in germany? if so im guessing you can have quite a lot of different frogs.. but it does seem a little small but if you can get frogs they stay under like 4cm you be able to have maybe 2 of em in there

    Cheers

  • okay i will buy a "Dendrobates terrarium" now with 60x40x40cm :), it is okay for 2-3 dendrobates tinctorius "azureus"?

  • dart frogs dont live in that much water u retard..

  • 1. IF you had watched the Video and my other videos you will notice that i live in Australia .2 this vivarium is for RED EYED TREE FROGS so you don't get confused again there the AUSTRALIAN ones... 3. We can not have dart frogs in Australia... so before you go and call people retards you might wanna 1. Listen .2 Read and .3 maybe go back to school and learn the above

    Cheers

  • i have been working on a vivarium and i have a couple questions.

how are the plants along the background being watered?

is using glass the only way to seperate land and water?

and what are those vines called?

  • the plants are watered when i mist the hole vivarium. no you can make a false bottom vivarium... um the vines are just fake vines bought from a pet store

    cheers

  • hey very nice terrarium, only one cuestion, what did you use for the plants substrate?? do you have any problems with infecctions because of the organic material??

  • thank you.. the plants substrate was the same for all substrate in the tank is was peat moss / coir ... infections from organic?? what you don't want is fertilizers so you need to wash your plant soil off before putting them in the tank

  • How does the water go with the foam stuff you made the background out of? does it fade or swell or anything plz reply..

  • it does ok but it does strip the peat moss off over time so best to do would be have rocks or wood where the water fall would be

  • This has helped me tremendously as I go about to make a Frog set up for my 9 yr old Thanx for taking the time to teach a complete stranger :)

  • Hey Jess Ive been watching all your videos over the past few day and i have to say WELL DONE...So much info in them I cant wait to start my own this next week...

I had a few questions however.

What pump and filter are u using?

Type of lights (life glo / fluora glow?)

Any other electronic equipment other then heat pad and hydrometer/thermo?

Type of soil for plant on the floor and in the small pots on the wall.

Are those vines just normal branches or r they specific? Thank you so much!!!

  • Great work Jesse, looks fantastic.

Just wanted to no how much the tank alone cost. and can u buy backgrounds with pots in them?

  • Thanks heaps, the glass vivarium was $200 AUD on its own, i have not seen any back grounds with pots in them i have seen polystyrene back grounds that have been painted, they look ok but not natural enough lol. do you live in Victoria?

  • great paludarium man u should deffinetly get some dart frogs

  • Hi thanks, i would get dart frogs but where i live I'm not legally allowed to keep them unfortunately.

  • hey do you use a filter for your water or just a pump?

  • At the moment its only a pump but I'm going to change that to a filter pump.

  • How did the heatmat stick on the glass (you used tape first, and then it fitted without tape)? And what is it for aquarium you have at 3:29? :)

  • Well done! I love heavily planted vivslike urs!
