It is about the contrast between the simple beauty of a child on the beach and the horror of war. If anything, I think the song challenges the rationality behind 'the will to fight' and the notion of 'progress' and its relationship to destruction. Perhaps that is why you refer to it as 'this crappy song' - because you have misinterpreted its meaning.
Of course that's not the point. This video contrasts decontextualized images of peace and war in order to evoke feelings of revulsion in the viewer. It's a piece of yellow propaganda for the leftist cause of their cherished heaven-on-earth. The left loves to isolate and simplify concepts in ways that suit them, which they call "unpacking" or "deconstructing" or somesuch other academic cant. It's in a way ironic that if they had their way, they would be the first ones against the wall.
all this video has done is cut out some geographical distance... to everyone who buries their heads in the sand... i hope you don't have children to answer to because things are gonna get alot worse... this is one of the most beautifully executed videos i've seen; like MJ's Earth Song but a bit easier to stomach...
Just saw their last show at Brixton, shame they are finishing but they went out in style. The singer on this with Maxi, named Harry, has an incredible voice.
He sand 4 sonfs on the show and his range is fantastic.

@ilovepancakeswithjam the beauty of being essentiate beings is the ability of self awareness. This self awareness allows us to govern our own decision and categorize them as "good' or "bad". Without this, war would simply be a way of life. Our greed and ignorance is what brings conflict. It is not what we are at heart but what we have become because of our ignorance of others. It is much simpler to argue that one man is wrong, and to eradicate his thoughts, instead of listening and compromising.
