To all the people complaining about dressing dogs up and how cruel it is, etc, coats like these are lifesavers for old or arthritic dogs when it is cold. Plus, it's not cruel as it doesn't hurt the dog.

Clothes on dogs....not on! Unless there is a medical reason for a coat (eg to keep them warm when they have short fur due to skin complaints) it is demeaning to the animal. My Westie had a little coat as we had to keep her fur very short. She only wore it in the winter when out for Walkies. She liked wearing it (ie didn't rip it off), as she associated it with going for a walk. However, she also liked it being removed after the walk! Get real!

Hey! I'm deciding between buying a Cairn Terrier or a West Highland White Terrier! I really can't see much of a difference between them but I was wondering if you can give me some info regarding the dog's temperament, and size. I want a dog that wont grow much the smaller I can get and also a dog who is not hostile with the people who come to my house and one that takes orders easily. I don't want an annoying pet. Considering this could you tell me which one is better for me? Thanks!

I had a male Westie for 17 years 7 months and 2 days. I've also recently babysat a couple of male Westies for a few days. My Westie would step outside the door and wait, not bolt off like Poodles. Getting him to take other orders was very difficult. They are strong willed. Mine had his favorites. They are like a big dog in a compact body. My dog tended to bite. They hate being picked up. They are very intelligent.

westy any day, i have one, they are cheeky little souls but if you are consistent with theyre training they are very good dogs, also dont punish a westy when they do something wrong because they see it as a challenge and will try it again

well, actually any dog can take orders easily, if you teach them right. i would recommend a female dog, because they learn faster and also are more clever than males.

Westies are more goofy than Cairns.  Cairns can be super loyal and a bit more territorial in my personal opinion. I have both Westies and a Cairn. The Cairn has been a troublemaker in pblic but otherwise is very sweet around the family.

my westie hates things like that and he realy dosent need shirts to keep them warm westies lived in scotlands harsh highlands wear it is truley inhabitable in some parts (i live in scotland) and their coat and skin is more than enough to keep them warm!
