  • ONLY GOD CAN GIVE me the RIGHT words to say. how, someone, PLEASE, tell me HOW i can put into WORDS what MOTOWN music has done for the world. what it has GIVEN in ABUNDANCE in UNIQUENESS that is UNTOUCHABLE, UNMATCHED, UNDENIABLY the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALLLLLLL GLORY TO GOD ALMIGHTY IN JESUS NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOMETHING BOUT THIS SONG. OMG!!!!!!!! CAN'T GET ENOUGHHHHHHHHH.

  • Today is Jan 31, 2012, and this song is better than 99.9% of the shit that's on the radio and videos right now!!!

  • luv lil wayne and the whole gang But will their stuff STAND UP 40+ years from now?

  • @6lukeyflash Why is there always a comment about Lil Wayne or some other rapper on Four Tops videos?

  • ok so does anyone else agree that the 4 tops sounded better when they got older and when they sung this song like for instance during the motown reunion of 85 i think it was

  • you lucky thing, when I finally had enough to even think of getting tickets to see them, Levi Stubbs died on the day I was to book them, and you got to see them at their best too

  • THE MIGHTY FOUR TOPS....

  • great foot stomper,luv it

  • oh boy!!!!! That makes me feel good.

  • I could listen to Four Tops & Motown music 24/7! They're music will live forever on...thank goodness!

  • SOMETHING about this SONG. as MOTOWN is....unexplainable...other than GOD to be the GLORY in JESUS name. but the ENERGY of this MUSIC is as satisfying TODAY as it was THEN. something about OBAMA...love him. Something about MOTOWN...LOVE IT. ALLLLLLLLL ABOUT GOD ALMIGHTYYYYYYYYY.

  • Their hits were relentless in the 60's. It may be Motown made but this is rock & roll at its best. Credit the fantastic musicians backing the Four Tops because they really elevate it & support Levi Stubbs wonderfully. Their place in rock history is secure. Stubbs' vocals are right up there with the legends: Presley, Lennon, Dylan, Jagger, Morrison, Janis, Otis Redding, Ray Davies, Eric Burdon, Joe Cocker and anyone else you can think of that have survived for decades with a signature voice.

  • @lastrada52 I remember living in Philly in the mid-70's and WMMR, THE progressive rock station in the city....stuff like Wishbone Ash, The Fugs, Ry Cooder....they would play 'Something About You'....that's how great this song was and still is....

  • @lastrada52 Steve Marriott, who could sing just about anything with his unique vocal

  • @SINGSTRESS100 - Agreed. Steve Marriott. Excellent unique lead vocalist.

  • @lastrada52 Check out the Small Faces cover of If I Were a Carpenter. Its on YT :-)

  • Still want this song in 2011....... long live Motown!!!

  • The progressive station in Philly WMMR 93.3 would play this in the late 60's up until the mid-70's....that's how great this song is....!!!!

  • Fabulous Motown track. Really made for Levi's driving voice. Thanks for posting a "hidden" gem.

  • im 13 and i love this song, yet i hate every song made after 2000... awkward?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! man,the rythem, the beat .used to dance in a line to this outstanding tune. i dunno,it kind of drives through the gut and into the soul. guess that's why it's called 'soul music'? doing it to us like only motown can...i swear this is the truth. thanks for sharing.

  • Love that guitar.

  • Didn't some band cover this tune in the 80's? Great song, thanks!

  • @zapdelivers Dave Edmunds (Rockpile) did a cover of it. Pretty good one, too.

  • Love that Holland-Dozier-Holland sound!

  • October 1968.My older borther's date stood him up so he gave the tickets to me and my friend to see the Tops at Eastern Mich University. 8 rows from the stage. It was my first real concert. Man, these guys and their band the Funk Bros cooked that night. Even as a goofy 14 year old, I could see their greatness. We hung around the stage after the show and a couple of the Funk Bros joked with us and teased us. One kept asking us why we didn't have girlfriends. They were really cool.

  • @motorcityquig Magic memories.

  • @motorcityquig Great story !

  • Released by Motown on October 21, 1965, and it peaked at Number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 around December of that year-

  • This tune was released by Motown on October 21, 1965 and it peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of 1965-

  • So easy to forget just how good this music is and how lucky we are to have grown up with it.

    Regards

    Germany /BY

  • 10:17 WXXX much more music time! Rockin' out with Levi Stubbs and the Four Tops with our seventh heavy hit in a row. Ron Radio giving you Motown and more! Rock on!

  • hit the nail on the head,,, cant get better

  • Nothing today holds a candle to the powerful driving force of the sounds of the 60s. It is such a unique and variety of music that reflects a time when America was FABULOUS! Not that America isn't anymore..but it is going through some major stuff that is putting her to the test. We need to reinvigorate America with a sense of sound and feeling "again" with a sound that got us off our asses and gave us energy and drive in our everyday. It inspired our creativity and made us #1.

  • @KittyPooKaBoomBoom-And America was being tested in the 60's? Music was class but it was the only keeping america from having another civil war, hate the period love the music.

  • @KittyPooKaBoomBoom

That energy of the 60s was the sound of Baby Boomers raising hell. The movie, Animal House, comes about as close to the 60s goings on as anything yet produced. Unfortunately this generation has moved on in life and the music and perhaps some of you reading this are all that remain.

  • @KittyPooKaBoomBoom Like everything else in a forever changing world..we, as a country, are getting older..but that was the "Boomer Generation" of America..and "man" was it a generation! Thank God I was apart of it! That thundering beat in the song, in a sense, was America during that time!

  • @KittyPooKaBoomBoom AMENNNN. i plan to be that FORCE in JESUS name!!!

  • @KittyPooKaBoomBoom Well said, amen.

  • MAGNIFICENT from start to finish. always said that MOTOWN had the ABSOLUTE BEST SONG INTROS. lessons for all: START STRONG & the end should be just FINE. this song's start has that AMERICAN INDIAN feel to it.

  • ....a lot of white english bands would do this song live on stage.....(i know the "jam " was one)

  • well being that you brought in the "white" card heres a little tidbit for ya the drummer on this and ALL their hits is a white dude Ralph Gallante AKA Larry Londin (his stage / studio name) he drummed on more motown hits then Bernard Purdy or any other drummer of that era

  • it's funny.......and i mean this in a positive tone that white english bands would do this song .....but not white american band's.......by the way ....."levi stubbs" is the king!

  • "HANDS DOWN" "THIS IS GOLD"

  • Beautiful music. Thank you for posting it.

  • After The Temptations they are my second fav but you can sit still when you hear any of those bands
