  • this looks really scrummy, wholesome food thats easy on the pocket!! nice work!!

  • She said, 'If you have it too thick it will take longer to cook.'

But it sounded like, "If you have a toothache, it will take longer to cook."

I had to rewind to make sure :)

  • This is very basic cooking so anyone who cannot cook this is a chump!! Or a fat takeaway queen

  • tips for the entire segment ......"give it a quick stir"....its not needed but stir it anyway!!! STIR FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!! LOL!

  • if you are a starving student keep the skin on ! ya need all the calories you can get.

  • Thankyou Jameela...I really enjoy your cooking recipes

  • No thanks, I think we are a bit too obsessed about the credit crunch.

  • bugger off!

  • easy and tasty! thanks for the idea

  • I would not use staples in case it falls into the pot, don't want to crunch into that..try sellotaple.

I am trying this tonight, if it is anything like the vinegar cake, it will be delicious.

Keep it going jameela...doing a great job.

  • I nornamlly use binder clips

  • Love your cooking! you got a great mind!

Not good if one of those staples was to fall in the pasta :(

  • great receipe, thanks, just added to my favourites, will be trying this

  • this is lovely! you have an amazing voice! =] well Done! carry on!

  • You have a wonderful channel and I just subscribed. All your recipes look delicious.

For a vegetarian variation a friend of mine adds boiled potatoes and spinach instead of chicken to the lentil soup base, and he uses curry powder, instead of the cumin seeds. However, I can't see why you couldn't use both. He serves it over rice.

I look forward to cooking all your recipes.

  • can i come over for dinner please?

  • Thanks for the recipe Jemeela, im gonna cook this for my wife tonight for our anniversary. She's a pain in the arse.

    oops... just coming darling

  • get the vegetarians!

  • my mums name is jameela

  • Inexpensive goin veggie? Must be kiddin!

  • totally agree

  • veggie is more expensive . organic veggies are the only ones worth buying .

  • Thats good

  • i luv dis woman !

    shes soo sweet !

  • There is alot of fat on the skin, yes.

But the protein in the chicken is under the skin.

  • No.. fat in and UNDER the skin.. the protein is throughout the lean meat. Makes sense really :)

  • another cheap one is mince, pasta, tin of condensed mushroom and tomato soup. Cook mince add both sauces, cook pasta then add to mince and soups. Easy!!!! cheap and tasty and kids love it.

  • If I was really trying to save money, I'd eat the soup by itself. LOL

  • hahaha true say!

  • SPEND SPEND SPEND, people, while the prices hit rock-bottom, coz we ain't gonna get another opportunity like it!

  • I HATE the phrase 'credit crunch', it's just wrong. Economic downturn, recession, instable economy etc etc, whatever, JUST NOT 'CREDIT CRUNCH'!!!!!

  • Yeah, it just sounds like a bizzar cereal or something.

  • I agree with you there. For me the hate comes from the excessive use of the phrase in advertising. Drives me mad.

  • Yeah same, I also hate, 'Carbon Footprint' i'm glad people are finaly forgetting that stupid phrase.

'Credit Crunch' doesn't even seem to have a logical name. By the sound of it somebodies gonna eat my credit cards.

  • if it were me i would eat the soup and chicken seperatly out of a pan

    lol i hate cooking :(

  • I would have mixed the pasta and the chicken

  • Hmmmm I can smell it from here, yumm yumm yummy!

  • That's really good for people like students who haven't got much money and don't know how to cook either. It's cool. I don't like meat though!

  • Sounds delicious, but it does look like school diners. Maybe if you sprinkled something (cheese) on top it would look better.

  • im only guessin ere, but i thought indians were veges?

  • some are some aren't.

  • kl thanks

  • put a smile on your face in these troubled times [cool 2 b a kid] smile you there. spike 9

  • credit crucnh another made up media word like terrorism and global warming why dont we eat raw fish surly heating destroys the planet call it global warming raw munch

  • Terrorism and global warming aren't made up.

Terrorism got it's name from widespread terror caused by 'Terrorists' and the earth is warming up. Hence Global Warming.

  • rather buy a 89p Pot noodle!!

  • i wud of mixed the chicken n soup with the pasta in the pot that looks tasty

  • I agree it should of been combined!! Fuck chasing peas around a plate!

  • she has a funny accent

  • what a load of shite! i could go to the shop right now buy myself a 10p packet of crisps and a 30p packet of biscuits

  • And then you'd be sick from all the sugar and salt. Dumbass.

  • nope i can eat a whole packet of custard creams in 1 sitting me

  • yeah but custard creams are diffrent. they are nutritionaly balanced! some call them super food or super man's food

  • No, Jameela, do not use staples to staple it! Buy some clothes pegs to seal food bags like this. Loose staples in your food could be an unpleasant hazard which would not be easily visible. Also the virtical strip at the top of the pasta packet is designed to reclose the packet. Keep food sealed. I found moths in a pack of cereal.

  • Very true. Living in a hot and humid climate, I have found that, upon opening, keeping everything in the fridge or freezer works wonders at keeping out pests and keeping everything fresh for a long time. Things like pasta, cereal, chips, flour, pancake mixes, extracts and most spices keep pest-free and fresh for a long time.

  • Ok, the credit crunch ISN'T THAT BAD! Jeez, it's worse in America than it is over here. Not many people are even feeling it's effects. So what's the point in eating like crap if life aint crap?

  • Well of course the bourgeois don't feel the credit crunch

  • They seem to feel it more and complain about it more than anyone else. It's affecting invested money and money in banks more than anything. The less Bourgeoise you are the less stake you have in banks.

P.S. This meal looks revolting but at least some nice woman has taken the time to make a sweet little pasta making video.

  • she tried very hard but not to my likig but probably eat a little if i were hungry!!

    well done!

  • hummmmmmmmmmm good cooking but now I am hungry so I shall make some of what she just made

  • a tin of soup with paster how strange? Do you know how much salt is in 1 tin of soup over the daily allowance.

  • Who cares, you have been watching GMTV too much

  • I already cook like this but I don't eat meat, so I just have loads of vegatables.

  • For an even cheaper meal, with a meatier flavour, try replacing the chicken with Squirrel freshly caught in the woods. Tasty and free....cant get better than that lol

  • This is brilliant, thanks for the upload. I would probably not cook this though, I'm a terrible cook and I'd say a £2 could get me a nice ready meal :D

  • Wow that's a lot of chicken!

  • Why everytime I hear from people with british accent the chicken is all the time around?

  • coz we LOVE chicken!

  • A good effort for showing those how to cook on a budget - also not everyone wants or needs to add excess salt in their diet as mentioned previously - actually when I cook pasta, I add a little olive oil to the boiling water, but no salt. The chicken sauce/soup, will have all the salt it needs!

  • How do you make Monster Munch?

  • Wow Jemeela that looks awesome you rock !!

  • GHAAA NO MORE CHICKEN!

  • the water should have been salted. at the end of cooking, the sauce should be mixed in the pan with pasta to absorb the flavours. helpfull video to those who cant cook, but to me its just giving easy answers. people need to learn how to cook properly. fair play tho love your only trying to help. more than most people are doing

  • Magic can't wait to try this! Thanks

  • there are much more boring and more pointless vids on youtube than this

  • You are exactly right...and I am flummoxed by those, too...

  • "every good cook" clearly this video is aimed at ppl who are not very good at cooking and who dont know how to cook very well and to fit budgets you jackass. gordan ramsay isnt expected to watch this video and take tips so piss of. jemeela wot ur doing is kind and helpful. thankyou

  • Sorry if it sounded as if I happened to be attacking her personally. I actually like her instructions. But, people on budgets do not have to eat tastless food...a large container of salt is very cheap...even adding a few tablespoons of (inexpensive) chopped parsley to the pasta would add much needed color and flavor. But I think your best bet would be to pour the chicken over the pasta. And frozen peas are usually less expensive than canned...and much better...

  • YouTube suggested this video for me :(

    Im 'depressed' by default now

  • youtube only sugest thinks u may like..so oblivasly u were watchin cooking video's at somwe point

  • i haven't watched a single cooking video and i still got this recommended for me...

  • this isnt a suggestted or recommended video from youtube, this video got featured, everyone see's it on the homepage. :-)

  • Looks good to me.

  • Love your video :) excellent

  • . ithink this is amazing. i like your vioce

  • They make chicken doner from old drumsticks and thighs, and its still very tasty.

  • this aint cheap, one thing you done was waist abit of the chicken and you also bought canned soup. Best option is my favorite, honey glazed chicken with vegetable stir fry. half lemon juice, table spoon of soy sauce, two table spoons of honey, 1 chicken leg or whatever you want really. mix honey, soy sauce and lemon juice together, pour on the chicken and using a brush every ten minutes brush sauce back onto the chicken until chicken is cooked. the more clear the honey the better for cooking :-)

  • MetalLove319

I also am hungry and want my favourite dish :)

  • lol stripes

  • This is suppose to be cheap? This is not cheap for people that have hardly any income or live on benifits of £150 a week. Belive me.

And just for a sandwich? I will spend that much? If I was in the state I was 3 years ago, I would by my self 3 packets of 10p crips and a cheap can of coke for lunch.

Nope. - Not cheap, sorry to say.

  • Thats because you are some poor immigrant, without any gcses, Spongeing off everybody else. Go to hell.

  • take it easy!

  • Remedy

    Get a job !

  • I would by my self 3 packets of 10p crips and a cheap can of coke for lunch...yes i know what you mean...respect to you.

  • But because of the credit crunch, the 10p crisps are 15p. Have you noticed how the 10p/15p crisps are a bit light- as in, not as dense?

  • Therfore more credit for less crunch :)

  • Credit crunch grub is both cheap and delicious, I do hope you bring more recipes to the table :P

  • I made it, its brill ! Please try about how 2 make...HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CAKE !!!!

  • do pork chops! everyone likes pork chops!

  • It's not a bad video, but I don't know why it's featured =S

  • Help for sufferers of low income?

  • Well maybe it's just me who didn't find it useful cause I'm quite a good low budget cook... ah the student life <_<

  • bloody students :p

  • All you need in life is Supernoodles and vodka =)

  • same here... but i guess its pretty useful

  • take the oil out & cook the meat with no fat that would be good on a green day of slimming world

    lovin&buzin

    xxx

  • "credit crunch munch" sounds like some kind of kiddies breakfast cereal

  • lawl do you use said cereal to entice kids into your fritzel lair aha

  • i cooked it yesterday and i liked it my husband thought it was a bid boring but he likes spicy meals anyway and my 2 years old liked it as well and he is usually very fussy. yummie keep this low costs recepies coming it is needed in these times

  • it is a nice cheap meal

  • WELCOME TO ENGLAND!

  • Why are people posting racist and classist comments on a cooking video? I sense there's violence gestating in the west.

  • Thanks... From students everywhere lol.

Beans on toast gets boring after 2 weeks.

  • looks very delicious i think it would be nice on some rice :D.

  • Was that pasta on special offer? I''ve got too many packets at home.

  • Loved when she tried to put the pasta in the pot but hadn't opened the packet! I salute you Jemeela!!!

  • ok...

    Just a note...

You MUST wait the water to be boiled before putting pasta inside the pot...

and then you MUST cook it in ten or eleven minutes, not a second more...

    Your pasta is clearly overcooked!

  • Sounds delicious...defintly going to give it a try :)

can you use shredded roast or grilled chicken in this recipe too?

    Thanks Jameela, you're awesome :)

  • I love the accent! Is that a South African accent?

  • my moneys on a southern english accent

  • I didn't see the pastor?!

  • Why does everyone think that is going to taste bad? Its CHICKEN, SOUP, and PASTA, are you an idiot if you think three good things combined tastes bad? If you think yes, then go fail at life, that looks absolutely delicious, widen your mind to other options, it would taste delicious, but for a thickening agent, you could just use some flour and mix it into the soup before the soup is mixed with the chicken, and it would thicken as it is heated.

    Good Work, Looks Delicious!

  • I love the production value of this video especially the flyby shots at the end LOL

  • Personally I have not noticed any change in ANY prices (except fuel) from this "credit crunch" I hate that word..credit crunch. It's as if they are making money off the name itself just by mentioning it.

  • Can I try some?

  • why is she cooking on top of a washing machine or something?

  • rice pudding. thats all you need

  • enough for 4 people....more like 400 people

  • good job X)

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmm looks yummy :P

  • Whoa did you have a load of peas left? Thats a green mountin on the plate!

  • no seasoning at all? bland! guys if your a student or a non cook and want to make an easy chicken dish, try boiling some sliced chicken breasts in chicken stock with a few gloves of garlic and mustard seeds, for 5-8mins then add the chicken to another pot with creme fraiche and half a glass of white wine, add some of the stock you boiled chicken in and reduce, then add tablespoon of dijon mustard and table spoon castor sugar, easy! serve with boiled new potatos with parsley& butter and asparagus

  • it's just that...we wanna see the video..

  • i will make a video but i only have a webcam at the moment, if i get a proper camera I can do it.

  • yummmy, that sounds... FINE!! :P :P

  • HEINZ will sue u for copyrighting their product on ur vid!!! xDD just joking this vid was feutured on YT XD

  • I have some amazing cooking vids that I made on my channel!

  • and

  • stir the pasta in the chicken or the pasta will be cold and tasteless. otherwise sounds good, condensed soup works too (especially mushrroom).

  • well the chicken looks like....urm....well....0_o

  • diced chicken or even legs/drumsticks are a rip off... not saving me any pennies.

  • FUCKING ASSHOLES!! it looks disgusting but it probably tastes pretty good. looks dont mean shit

  • Thanks for that?

Anyway at school today I made lentil soup. It's great. Doesn't look good though.

  • if you are that skint you should just eat the tin of soup....

  • sounds delicious.

  • that looks....=S

  • stai leggendo la catena di osiris..un demone si è impossessato di una bambina se non scrivi questo messagio in altri 5 video in tre minuti la bambina/demone stara nella tua stanza stanotte

  • not bad

  • it doesnt look disgusting O.o i mean, it obviously wouldnt suit a large evening ball with wine and assorted cheese, but like, its a money saving meal which looks reasonably yummy.

  • I don't see why some of you are complaining about how disgusting it looks.. it's better that no food!

  • Looks nice and simple. I do a similar thing but I use a tin of chopped tomatoes instead of soup and I mix the pasta in at the end, then top it with cheese. Ignore the idiots with derisory comments, if they don't like the recipe they can change it, if they don't like the meal, they shouldn't cook it at all.

I look forward to seeing more from you.

  • im tired off all this credit crunch bullshit

  • me too yourmum, me too.

  • i agrreee, totallyy dude

  • Youre not going to care what it looks like when youre scounging for pennies like some some poor student or when youre on the breadline in hard times, are you?

  • whats it got 2 do with credit crunch?

  • It's cheap.

  • If you want your sauce thicker, just add some flour to it, whilst it is still cooking.

    Nice video.

  • A simple and genuine dish.I shall try that.Thanks so much,Jemeela.

  • you really need to buy a new frying pan, mate;

  • Omg ..

    So does your mom!

Some one does a nice and helpful video, and all you do is be Spite-full :O !?

    How mean!

  • ..Thank you for sharing..looks great! To add onions would be nice...

  • Thank you for sharing its looks great!..add onions would be nice!

  • hey, looks tasty

  • All i can say, Yuuuummy...!

  • thank you for posting. i HAVE actually tried this out and enjoyed it very much.Blessings...x

  • haha. thank you.

  • Great video, thanks for the recipe!

  • Trying adding a chicken cube/bouillion for added flavor with a bit of oil in the pasta water. It will give those peas a kick too if you recycle the water. What is the purpose of the well is it a habit or just necessary?

  • its just makes it easier with absorption

  • i'd rather go out and 4 fish and chips!

  • Fish and Chips my ass...go feed your brain with something nice. Low life! FISH AND CHIPS??? is that what you can do best?

  • Fish is brain food, think b4 you rant.

  • Good job and it sounds really good. I've always learned to get rid of excess fats is to strain the fat into a strainer especially meats that are high in fat and strain them with hot water to get rid of all fats. But Ive always heard that fat tastes good. Well, it's up to the taster. You taste for yourself. Good job!

  • I would have drained the fat and cooking oil before adding the soup. Thats what i do when im cooking a homemade curry anyway, it's basically the same except your adding soup. If you don't, it goes really thin and you get that lair of oil on the top. Leaving it in.... that can't be good for you lol.

  • Wonderful videao, easy to follow directions.

  • fair play love that looks hanging and you need to sharpen your knife lol. and bobzilla makes a great point, its not as though your making it from scratch to get nutritional value from it. but hey it was a good idea lol
