The problem with both of you is you're both trying to relate the NCAA to the NFL. IT WON'T WORK! You know why? There's too many teams. An NFL system with 120 teams will NEVER work. HOWEVER! There is a solution, which relates to both NCAA and NFL. Create another division. Seperate the different classes of D1. It's quite obvious that Western and Central Michigan University do not belong in the same class as LSU, OU, UO, ect... so if they narrowed to field to like the Big 6 confs, maybe it'll work
@FRArognetwork , If you really thought it through, the truth is a playoff system would (a) not solve the problem of who is the best team, (b) teams would still complain and cry about not getting into the playoffs (c) each regular season game would no long be important because like all playoff systems, you can lose a game or two, and still make it in, and (d) it's insanity to think a team like Utah or Boise would be able to beat half a dozen powerhouse programs. So who would really benifit?
@FRArognetwork If you really think a playoff system would benifit the smaller teams, you are sadly mistaken. I seriously doubt a team like Boise could beat 4 big name teams in a row. Hell, they barely beat one big name team at a time. And why do you want a playoff system so bad? You as a fan arn't getting anything from it.
@OUfootballAuthority well for one its the only division of football without playoffs and 2nd all it is is when it gets to the end ppl vote on em they dont have any games that earn them a spot and then you got teams like ohio state who play NOBODY and if they go undefeated they get a shot? really? i'd tell you what i'd get from it as a fan no more pointless bowl games that mean nothing just handshake sorry ass trophy and a kick in the ass
@FRArognetwork What are you talking about? Those "pointless bowl game" pay the universities to be in them and add to the money that college makes. With no bowl games at the end of the season, no team gets any money, PERIOD. And look at all the sports with playoffs. They all lost their luster because not every game even matters. And the BCS now saves a spot for a non BCS team to get a bid in a bowl. That's the same offering other BCS teams get. SO how is it unfair?
@OUfootballAuthority they do pay money i'll give you that but they need to make the bowl games actually worth somethig by turning them into playoff games what im saying is that u win a rose bowl or sugar bowl thats awesome!..........but ur not national champs so nobody gives a shit and they all get paid the same for all bowls and u said they all lost their luster? how the hell do you figure that when they determine the best team in every other sport
@FRArognetwork Look dumbass, if you have playoffs, there is NO BOWL GAMES ANY MORE. NO MONEY FOR TEAMS, NO TROPHIES, NO ROSE BOWL, NO SUGAR BOWL, NO FIESTA BOWL, NO ORANGE BOWL. THERE IS NO WAY TO HAVE PLAYOFFS AND HAVE BOWL GAMES TO. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE! AND AS I SAID BEFORE, IF THERE IS A PLAYOFF, THE REGULAR SEASON GAMES WILL NOT MATTER ANY MORE. YOU COULD LOSE SEVERAL GAMES AND STILL GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS NO MATTER WHO YOU LOST TO. AND EVERYONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT BEING IN A BCS BOWL!!!!!
@OUfootballAuthority number one you can turn the bowl games into playoff games like the winners of the rose bowl faces the winner of the sugar bowl is how i mean which means they all still get money ......dumbass and ummm unless ur certain pick3ed teams in the top 25 ur regular season games dont mean dick anyways especially teams who stay undefeated and GET NOTHING and u say teams like boise state couldnt beat a big team well a playoff will put that to the test but with bcs we'll never know
@FRArognetwork WTF? you can not turn playoff games into bowl games. That would mean that as long as you kept winning, you would get a trophy for every win. That is pointless and idiotic. And in a playoff system, a team like Boise, or Utah would never EVER make it to a NC game. They'd lose in the second or third round because trick plays only get you so far before superior talent and physicality kicks your ass. Stop being a dipshit and wake up. PLAYOFFS BENIFIT NO ONE! END OF DISCUSION.
@OUfootballAuthority im talkin turning bowl games into playoff games and why cant they get a trophy for each win in the playoff anad if its pointless its just as pointless as it is now considering everybody who wins in a bowl gets paid the same and a team like boise state could beat a big name team dont be stupid anybody can beat anybody when it comes down to it louisiana monroe beat bama south florida beat auburn playoffs would benefit ALOT but wait oklahoma would be out round 1 so hahahaha
@FRArognetwork Wow, you are really misinformed, arn't you? Every team that goes to a bowl game doesn't get paid the same. I'm surprised you didn't know that, because it's common knowledge. And NO ONE is going to do a playoff where you get a trophy each time you win a playoff. No other sport does that, so trust me, college football aint doin it. That is the most retarded thing ever uttered.
@OUfootballAuthority oh yea thats right i forgot its all sec who get into bowls get paid the same my bad thats my mistake and true no other sport does that so just get a playoff system and again im gonna say of course ur in favor of bcs your a oklahoma fan and if there was a playoff then yall would be the first to go with ohio state............go ahead keep supporting a system that has the most flaws while other sports know how to do it and make MORE money off it
@FRArognetwork GOD DAMN YOU ARE AN IGNORANT STUBBORN FOOL! I show you proof the players and coaches don't want a playoff, give you reason after reason that the playoffs rob the sport and the teams of money and dignity, and still you persist a playoff will fix everything. I thank god the BCS doesn't listen to morons like you and listens to the Universities instead.
@OUfootballAuthority ur a oklahoma fan again i say thats why your all for bcs bullshit championship series and yea bcs dont listen to ppl cuz they want it GONE and how would playoffs rob players of dignity? and they would rob them of money? oh yea cuz nfl playoffs dont make a dime nor does nba or mlb or nhl oh wait.........nfl makes 10 times moe money in their playoffs.......and theres universities who dont do bcs but dont have to worry bout money so yea your money theory blown to hell
@FRArognetwork OK, I'm gonna go over this one more time, and then if you are still to dumb to get it, I'm putting you on ignore. The BCS is listening to the coaches, players, and the universities. Because they are the ones that the BCS has to appeal to and make deals with. A playoff system would get rid of ALL bowl games, PERIOD! And there for, no university, but the national champs, would get any money. This only hurts the smaller schools, who make much less revenue than the larger colleges.
@OUfootballAuthority well thats true but u didnt answer bout the dignity part and dont say it'll mean regular season games wont be worth anything cuz its how u do in regular season that determines a spot in the playoffs... all u talk is money but what can i expect of a fan for a team that if they had playoffs would be the first to go or 2nd enjoy your system thats a popularity contest and 99% of time national title game is one sided lol and go ahead and press ignore u'll just be a bitch
@FRArognetwork Do you not see the big picture? Look at the NFL. A team that was 7-9 got into the playoffs. Granted, college football teams would have to have a better record, but just like the NFL, people would say that there team had the same record and should have gottin into the playoffs. And DIGNITY is lost because in a playoff system, you could lose to a high ranked team, and who cares??? You'd still get into the playoffs, right? So What would that game matter? WHY EVEN WATCH IT????
@OUfootballAuthority number one yes a 7-9 team got into the playoffs but they had the best record in the nfc west thats why and guess what they didnt win did they and no dignity isnt lost u lose to a high ranked team means you werent good enough to win it all and why would that game matter? cuz its a step closer to the championship and its like saying the sec title or any conference title doesnt matter cuz u still get into a bowl game right? so why would that game matter WHY EVEN WATCH IT?
@FRArognetwork Agian, you are missing the point. Pay attention for once, and stop thinking of your selfish idiocracy. Let's say my Sooners lost to a ranked Texas team and Iowa State. And Boise lost a ranked USC and ranked Oregon. But Oklahoma went to the playoffs and not Boise. Which is most likely what would happen, because even if the BCS is gone, the rankings would still stay. Is that fair? Here's a question, who deserves to get in? A playoff will not fix the argument, only worsen it.
@FRArognetwork And as far as dignity, it pertains to teams playing a high ranked opponent. It would no longer matter if your opponent was highly ranked or not. It would only matter your record of wins versus loses. Thus a highly touted rivalry is no longer really a rivalry because wether you win or lose doesn't matter as long as your record is good. GET IT? And you are right. If you have a playoff system, many conferences are debating whether they even need a conference title game for it.
@OUfootballAuthority one last question cuz its apparent as an oklahoma fan ur gonna keep supporting a failed system that votes teams in every year like american idol but if the rivalry games wouldnt matter then why is a rivalry like the celtics and lakers so red hot or yankees vs red sox.....they have playoffs but their rivalries dont matter sorry sir you lose
@FRArognetwork OK bud, whatever. Funny that the same failed system put TCU in the Rose Bowl and Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, yet it's keeping those teams from getting into BCS bowls because it doesn't like them right? And why is it you don't name your favorite team? It wouldn't be because you know they suck would it? By the way, the BCS is nothing more than the 5 bowl games at the end of the year. You wanna be mad, be mad at the ranking system that puts teams in those bowl games.
@OUfootballAuthority Funny those teams both beat super hyped super conference teams that were sure to wipe the floor. Yes I'm a Wisconsin fan admitting that and they lost to TCU. Besides I seem to recall a certain wild card NFL team winning the super bowl last year that would never have gotten a chance in the BCS.
The BCS is ruining college football. Put a playoff system in. What you have a national disgrace. Auburn? Auburn is not the best team in the country. The title game should have been TCU versus Boise State.
The funny thing is.. All the retards wanting a 16 team play-off system stilll want a BCS style system to select those 5 remaining teams. At least a component of the BCS system anyway They also have no clue how bad a play-off would actually be for college football. Those who are calling for a play-off are just clueless monkeys who shold be watching soccer instead of the greatest sport on earth.
@PancakesNGravy The ONLY monkey and clueless moron here is YOU who is in denial that the system is COMPLETELY broken. How could you have a bunch of undefeated teams but only two can go to the title game? That's just plain dumb. The BCS has been afraud from the beginning bc of the good old boy network.
The big schools don't want to be embarrassed by the smaller ones. How sad is it that a school big or not can go undefeated their whole season but end up with nothing to show for it in the end.
@Bigdaddyjobba dude lets say you like a team there last game they lose and they were number one unless number 2 has two losses ur not tin the national championship
@2MinutesNwonderland That's not true, back in 2003, OU lost it's one and only game in the Big 12 championship agianst Kansas. And yet, a week later, they were still #1. Not saying it makes sense, but it happens.
@Bigdaddyjobba If you really thought it through, the truth is a playoff system would (a) not solve the problem of who is the best team, (b) teams would still complain and cry about not getting into the playoffs (c) each regular season game would no long be important because like all playoff systems, you can lose a game or two, and still make it in, and (d) it's insanity to think a team like Utah or Boise would be able to beat half a dozen powerhouse programs. So who would really benifit?
@PancakesNGravy lol yeah i saw that, that was a great game what an awesome win for nevada huh? i just said that to get u ppl who are so easily angered cause seems no one like boise st
@Hawkeyesownyou1 Because using computers along with coaches and reporters votes (many which have never played football they just cover because their part of the sports media) is complete BS. The true Champion should be decided in a playoff on the field. The only reason universities and corps. are for the BCS is the $, Playoff is needed w/ The Rose Bowl (the oldest bowl of them all) as the title game!!!!!
@jgshofar why let go of bowl games? it's been a big college tradition. in a playoff u can probably have a five loss team win it all and that just doesn't tell me who the best team really is.
@Hawkeyesownyou1 The BCS system doesn't always tell us who the best team is more often than not a deserving team is left out. There are so many bowl games now that outside of the major bowls the rest mean nothing there just games that only exist because some corp. put up some money for a "Bowl Game". Having a playoff like the pros is how we will see a real nat'l champ. Regardless of how many losses you have prior if you make the playoffs and no one beats you at the end of the day your the best
@jgshofar how many teams would you put in a playoff if you had to decide? what's the point of conference expansions, and conference championships if we put a playoff in? you take out the best regular season in sports and this is the only sport where i see that every game matters. a playoff only causes more problems. if there was a playoff in the sec championship last year and the year before, the loser would have said "no problem we'll play them when it counts."
@johnnyknox2005 my thoughts exactly! i think there should be a 16 team playoff consisting of all 11 conference champions and the 5 highest ranked remaining teams.
@slydawg221 How should we determine those other 5 teams? hmm.. if only there were some sort of ranking system to do that.. maybe based on stats someone puts into a computer.. or should we have a pre-selected panel of people decide who those 5 will be? Funny how much that sounds like the BCS huh? idiot!
@PancakesNGravy do i have to explain everything to you? haven't you ever heard of the usa today coaches poll? how stupid are you? unlike you i don't tink computers should be allowed to vote on anything.
Exactly, that's why College football is meaningless and only a farm system for the NFL. Only a fool would base a championship on a computer's report or a vote. Let 'em play the game, goddammit!!
I would not mind a playoff as long as the BCS Committee controls the process, not the NCAA( ie: National Communists Against Athletes). Also just do away with the unnecessary bowls as well. if we're going to do a playoff. IMHO, the minimum influence the NCAA has on the process, the better.
yes we do need a playoff,,for the teams like TCU and Boise State,,,,its like a 1 loss or 2 loss team can still have a chance but a undeafeted team cant or the texas-ou-tech situation from last year,,,BUT WE NEED TO REMEMBER THIS IS COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOT THE NFL,,THEYRE GOING TO COLLEGE TO LEARN AND MAKE A LIFE FOR THEMSLEVES,,NOT ALL PLAYERS GO PRO,,,,SO 1ST SCHOOL THEN FOOTBALL
i say top four team should play for the championship every year while still keeping the bowl system. So every year USC, Texas, Florida, Ohio state will have to win the big game.
you say play at the horseshoe in front of 105k fans...i say play at Neyland Stadium in front of 107k fans who are just as crazy. you say Notre Dame could have great things happen this season...i say watch Arkansas and new QB Ryan Mallet improve from last season. i would LOVE to have Florida play USC...it's the game we all want...but i don't think it's gonna happen. my money's on the winner of Texas/OU vs. Florida this year. USC goes 10-2 or possibly 9-3.
and you're boasting about how great the Pac-10 is when they had a team that didn't win a single game, yet you contradict yourself when LSU plays them? they do it for the money, dipshit! and from the looks of it, Washington could use every penny. oh wait, is this the same school that kicked ass back in 2000? that's my point! ALL TEAMS go through phases. you say Oregon was a high scoring offense... what about Florida? you say Cal has a heisman candidate...hello! Tebow could repeat.
i think you're forgetting a few things. one, ALL teams go through down times and don't look to be as sexy as they once were but eventually bounce back. the UF/FSU rivalry has been a little one-sided the last 5 years, but that game several times determined who went where in the post season. and you mention USC playing at Auburn... what was Auburn's record that year??? didn't they run the table the next year and get snubbed out of playing for the national title??
the bcs is such a load of shit, they have had so many fuck ups it's not even funny
1998: Ohio State a much better team than fsu but gets left out
2000: Both Miami and Washington were better teams then fsu, and either of those 2 should have been allowed to play (my vote would have been for uw, because of how tough the pac 10 was that year)
2001: nebraska (3rd best team in conference, plays for nc, nough said)
I say yes they do need one. bcuz teams like boise state and utah and teams in non conference have a chance to make a title game. Also it would stop the complaning lol
With a playoff system in college football, USC would be in the title game nearly every year, winning it 8-9 out of 10 times. They're in the discussion for the national championship every season but get low-balled for losing on the road to Oregon State, a team with a 9-4 just like the 9-4 Ole Miss team that beat Florida @ the Swamp.
It's ridiculous. How can you say one is better or worse?
Playoff takes away the speculation of what teams are are aren't truly great.
Say what you want about the Pac-10, but the out-of-conference play is what should be considered. SEC plays each other and continues to claim how tough it is, so they don't play ANYONE meaningful out of conference. Then teams like Washington out of the Pac-10, who go 0-12 last season, open this season against LSU.
alabama vs. clemson georgia vs. asu tennessee vs. ucla kentucky vs. louisville florida vs. florida state & miami (FL) arkansas vs. texas auburn vs. west virginia vanderbilt vs. wake forest ole miss vs. wake forest south carolina vs. nc state ....these were just a few of the OOC games that the SEC plays or played last year. what's your argument now?
Clemson sucked. ASU was even worse. UCLA beat Tennessee. Louisville sucked. Florida State sucked. Arkansas scheduling Texas was ballsy, give 'em that. West Virginia beat Auburn. Wake Forest? haha. nc state? whatever.
Great. You pointed out a few good match-ups. Yes, the SEC did a good job with those schduled games. But.....
Where are the SEC teams that are ACTUALLY WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS?
aka. Florida, LSU...?
Oh right, they're winning because they played TERRIBLE non-conference games...
Sorry, but relying on your conference games being "tough" isn't enough. Play at least 1 tough non-conference game and prove you can travel, play away from your comfort zone, and still WIN.
Like USC does. At Nebraska, at Ohio State, at Virginia Tech, at Auburn, at Notre Dame, etc.
Florida and LSU would not play those games. Don't give me the tough SEC bullshit.
USC plays road games this year at Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Cal.
Oregon was one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation. Cal has the best runningback in the nation (and Heisman candidate) Jahvid Best. Ohio State at the horseshoe with Terrelle Pryor and 105,000 crazy fans. Notre Dame is looking to finally make a statement with enough talent to do it.
4 ridiculously tough road games.
If USC makes it through that 11-1, with 1 road loss, they deserve to play an SEC team in the National Championship.
ok...so by your rationale, Florida doesn't play any ranked teams that are good enough? lemme see here... Georgia (15), LSU (11), FSU (23), Ole Miss (8...if we play them in the SEC game)... you're knocking normally scheduled games that Florida plays? other than Ohio State, the games you mentioned USC plays are comparable. ND (24), Oregon (17), Cal (13). and you're saying the ranked teams that Florida plays don't have high expectations???
Dominated? Yeah, a Field Goal with seconds left on the clock is dominating. LSU had trouble at Washington too, until the end of the 4th. But hey, they got 'em right outta the gates. USC played them after travelling to Columbus, Ohio and beating Ohio State.
Are you seriously defending the SEC being "great" right now? Outside of UF and Alabama (and maybe LSU) the other 9 teams have been TERRIBLE. Tennesse? Georgia? Auburn? Ole Miss? Those teams fucking suck! lmao
You keep right on laughing your stupid ass off. You name THREE teams from the SEC that are great. Now, can you name even TWO from your pathetic conference? No? Didn't think so. We have 3 GREATS, with 5 others who are capable of beating ANYONE on a given Saturday. You are a jackass, Mr lmao.
that might be supported IF the conference is strong that year, what happens if the conference is weak but in previous years it had been strong, making it over rated that year (that's what with OSU happened in 2006) we were a strong conference in previous years but that year it had been weak and we were blown out, now eberyone thinks the big 10 is a joke, what would you do if that happened to the "small schools" and then they would never be allowed in without someone saying they are over rated?
Dumb Niggger (Obama). Fuck No to a college football playoff! It will start off as a 4 team playoff then other schools will bitch and then it'll be 8 teams and then 16 and on and on and on. Just like it basketball theres 64 TEAMS! On espn right5 now on the front page Pat Forde wrote a column saying there needs to be a 308 All In tournament featuring every team in America! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?!?! The same will happen in football eventually... dumb ass idea from a dumb nigger.
if there was a playoff system USC and Florida and even a non-bcs conference team would be in it every year...the big12 and the big10 would have buy tickets.
Yes there should be a playoff. The BCS has proven that it is incapable of crowning a legitimate champion. unless an "ideal" season plays out, controversy after controversy always stems from the system year in and year out. what better change than to allow a playoff system that will allow conference champions and other great teams around the country to have a chance at the crown. that is legitimacy. until such a system is enacted, college football will continue to be stuck to this topic.
Let's all take this into consideration: What good is a BCS National Championship game if 2 teams can still split a national championship? It's ridiculous in my opinion.
@JLack84 There is no such thing as a "split championship". There is always only 1 team that gets the Sears trophy. And the is always the winner of the National Title game.
The AP needs to do the right thing and vote Utah #1. The BCS championship feels cheap. Utah deserves to be #1. Oklahoma or Florida may deserve a share of the title but Utah should atleast have the other half. If the AP does not give the championship to Utah then the AP voters are just as biased, bigoted and corrupted as the BCS.
"Most years there's no controversy?" yea...um....not! every year there's controversy, and there will be for every year to follow until they get a descent playoff system going.
ummm every game there is risk for injury its a collision sport it happens an if that happens o well it happens to thousands of people what you do is you have 5 bowl games then whoever the top 10 teams win then they advance to 2 semi final bowl games then to the national championship
id rather be national champion then be a pussy an not play an extra 2 games cause jus cause a team looses doesnt mean they dont regroup look at FLORIDA but i think USC VS FLORIDA national championship would be best
FCS and Divisions II and III have a playoff system with ZERO controversy, as does every other NCAA sport and every sport at the High School AND Professional level (football included)! There is only ONE reason FBS Football continues the BCS with only SIX FBS conferences having ANY access to it, and that reason is the MONEY!
not to mention people, it's not the BCS fault that these schools are not geting a shot, it's the respective school and their respective conferences fault, because if there conference applyed for membership into the BCS, and/or their conference were up to the level of other conferences, there would be no argument that boise, utah and ball state deserve to get in. however, when you have eastern michigan, san jose state and san diego state in your conference, it's nobodys fault but your own.
i,ve been thinking how everybody could be happy, so here's my best idea, first off, NO PLAYOFF. secondly, add two conferences to the six BCS conferences, therefor, all the bcs bids have one per conference. relegate the rest to division 1-AA, there are too many teams in division 1-A, besides, you really think utah state or idaho has a shot at a national title??? third, eliminate some bowl games, there are 29 bowl games, which i would eliminate 15 of them. keep the bowls that matter. there.
16-team playoff. 4 groups of 4, ABCD. Have 8 conference champions and 8 at-large bids, maximum 2 at-large per conference. This year, we'd have 2 from the Big 12 and 2 from the SEC. Those 2 pairs should play each other in the first round. Have the Big 10 champ play the Pac 10 champ in the first round. Keep all conference champs far away from the at-large teams from their own conference and match them up with other teams early on. This leads to great games in every round once you work out details.
beside's, on the BCS busters, if boise state or someone of their ilk want to be legit, join the pac-10. because i guarentee you boise state would be 7-5 in the pac-10, nobody with a straight face could tell me they could beat USC. but on the other hand, the only reason people want a playoff is so all these rich, big time schools like florida and lsu (with low academic standards by the way) could be featured all the time, when i don't give a damn about them. screw the overated SEC.
Your comment makes no sence. Under the current system the SEC has won two straight and going for #3 so how would a system that allows the mid majors a shot at title help the SEC? Think before you type.
i lost my temper, mainly because josh elliott of espn (who went to school with no football program) is the leader of the college playoff idea. the mid majors have no business challanging for a title, that's why they are mid majors. in wrestling terms, would you let a mid carder be your heavyweight champion of the world??? no, besides, the bcs is best because if you lose one game, your done. therfor, you should win all your games, including not losing to ole miss when you should beat them.
I lost my temper because you're a jackass. How are you to say that the mid majors don't deserve the right? There are mid-majors in BCS conferences (Vanderbilt, Baylor, even Texas A&M this season) that don't belong in the conversation either so yes, your argument sucks hard core.
wow someones an idiot...r u even serious... the prolem with your theory is that what happens when theres multiple one loss teams...what do you do there huh...then it comes down to computers and not actually playing it out...and if mid majors have no chance than how did boise st beat oklahoma
ok first of all the pac-10 sucks...second of all they would not have gone 7-5 they beat oklahoma that year douche...which is better than everyone in the pac-10 except for usc
i applaud the BCS, the pac-10 and the big ten for not giving in to a playoff, which would kill college football. it would be another publicly subsidized mess like the nfl, the nba or any other pro sport. this is a case where the people don't know what they want and don't know what's good for them. i sometimes wish miles brand, as much as i hate him, would come out and say to everybody, "we're never going to a playoff and there's nothing you can do about it".
Thats why the BCS sucks, how do you not know that Utah or Boise State would not give Alabama or Florida a run for they're money? Think about it, Florida in NC game, please thats getting as boring as Ohio State two years in a row. hell, Texas would give Alabama and Florida a better shot than Boise State would.
i will prove once again how smart i am?? boise state, utah and ball state are in non-bcs conferences. now think about this, if the NCAA tomorrow started a playoff, they would trick you, because it would be six BCS conference winners and two BCS at large bids. in other words, why have non-BCS schools play in the BCS title game??? that's like a CFL team playing in the super bowl. a CFL team is not a NFL member, different leagues, therefor, the system in place at least gives non-BCS teams a chance.
"Thats why the BCS sucks, how do you not know that Utah or Boise State would not give Alabama or Florida a run for they're money? Think about it, Florida in NC game, please thats getting as boring as Ohio State two years in a row. hell, Texas would give Alabama and Florida a better shot than Boise State would."
Because I know. Alabama is gonna roll tide on them!!! Utah should not even be undefeated TCU should have beat them.
There really isn't controversey. LSU and OSU proved to be the best 2 teams in the country. Tell me a couple reasons why another team should be in there.
ABSOLUTELY NO PLAYOFF! Keep BCS as is, play the bowls, and play a #1 vs. #2 game at season's end for the title.
You MUST NOT lose the excitement of the regular season. Losing even one football game should make you nervous, otherwise, you will destroy college football.
What happens when you've got 6 or 7 teams outside of the top 1 and 2 who can all make valid arguments for their case? What happens when you have 2 win teams ranking aheadof undefeated and one loss schools?
What happens when we just have no idea who really is the best?
you wouldnt say that if you were an Auburn or Boise State fan would you? both teams went 13-0. both teams left out. Anyone that goes undefeated in the SEC deserves a spot in the national championship!
I believe in an eight team playoff. Six spots for major conference champions(Pac 10, Big 10, Big 12, Big East, ACC, and SEC) and two spots for at large picks. I guess this year Hawaii and Georgia would slip in.
I agree there should be a playoff because I don't think LSU is good enough to be in the title game, But I will root for them since Bo Pelini is our new coach...
This is not rocket science; if people will put up money for the lowly bowls that 3 people care about, why can't someone put up cash for a playoff system? With 11 conference champs and 5 at-large bids, it would be done right. Who cares about the Rose Bowl? Texas in it a few years ago and other situations like that--that thing is blown up anyway. You want to preserve tradition--great, I am a traditionalist, but I get it; this system is broken, and it's time to fix it.
FFS, who cares about the big ten and the pac ten playing in the Rose Bowl? If a team from another conference plays in the Rose Bowl, is that really the end of the world? USC-Texas, now there was a shitty Rose Bowl, huh? Aweful game, no revenue.

It's quite obvious that Western and Central Michigan University do not belong in the same class as LSU, OU, UO, ect... so if they narrowed to field to like the Big 6 confs, maybe it'll work
lilbigwill8 2 months ago
lol lets see nba has playoffs best of 7 games in each round i think
nfl playoff system
ncaa basketball has the tourny
nhl has the stanley cup playoffs
ncaa college baseball has playoffs and world series
mlb same thing
afl football same thing
high school football has playoffs
ncaa football in all divisions have playoffs .......except for division 1a? wtf
FRArognetwork 11 months ago
@FRArognetwork , If you really thought it through, the truth is a playoff system would (a) not solve the problem of who is the best team, (b) teams would still complain and cry about not getting into the playoffs (c) each regular season game would no long be important because like all playoff systems, you can lose a game or two, and still make it in, and (d) it's insanity to think a team like Utah or Boise would be able to beat half a dozen powerhouse programs. So who would really benifit?
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority ur name ur a oklahoma fan im guessin right.....no wonder u dont think a playoff system would work lol
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork If you really think a playoff system would benifit the smaller teams, you are sadly mistaken. I seriously doubt a team like Boise could beat 4 big name teams in a row. Hell, they barely beat one big name team at a time. And why do you want a playoff system so bad? You as a fan arn't getting anything from it.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority well for one its the only division of football without playoffs and 2nd all it is is when it gets to the end ppl vote on em they dont have any games that earn them a spot and then you got teams like ohio state who play NOBODY and if they go undefeated they get a shot? really? i'd tell you what i'd get from it as a fan no more pointless bowl games that mean nothing just handshake sorry ass trophy and a kick in the ass
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork What are you talking about? Those "pointless bowl game" pay the universities to be in them and add to the money that college makes. With no bowl games at the end of the season, no team gets any money, PERIOD. And look at all the sports with playoffs. They all lost their luster because not every game even matters. And the BCS now saves a spot for a non BCS team to get a bid in a bowl. That's the same offering other BCS teams get. SO how is it unfair?
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority they do pay money i'll give you that but they need to make the bowl games actually worth somethig by turning them into playoff games what im saying is that u win a rose bowl or sugar bowl thats awesome!..........but ur not national champs so nobody gives a shit and they all get paid the same for all bowls and u said they all lost their luster? how the hell do you figure that when they determine the best team in every other sport
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority number one you can turn the bowl games into playoff games like the winners of the rose bowl faces the winner of the sugar bowl is how i mean which means they all still get money ......dumbass and ummm unless ur certain pick3ed teams in the top 25 ur regular season games dont mean dick anyways especially teams who stay undefeated and GET NOTHING and u say teams like boise state couldnt beat a big team well a playoff will put that to the test but with bcs we'll never know
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork WTF? you can not turn playoff games into bowl games. That would mean that as long as you kept winning, you would get a trophy for every win. That is pointless and idiotic. And in a playoff system, a team like Boise, or Utah would never EVER make it to a NC game. They'd lose in the second or third round because trick plays only get you so far before superior talent and physicality kicks your ass. Stop being a dipshit and wake up. PLAYOFFS BENIFIT NO ONE! END OF DISCUSION.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority im talkin turning bowl games into playoff games and why cant they get a trophy for each win in the playoff anad if its pointless its just as pointless as it is now considering everybody who wins in a bowl gets paid the same and a team like boise state could beat a big name team dont be stupid anybody can beat anybody when it comes down to it louisiana monroe beat bama south florida beat auburn playoffs would benefit ALOT but wait oklahoma would be out round 1 so hahahaha
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork Wow, you are really misinformed, arn't you? Every team that goes to a bowl game doesn't get paid the same. I'm surprised you didn't know that, because it's common knowledge. And NO ONE is going to do a playoff where you get a trophy each time you win a playoff. No other sport does that, so trust me, college football aint doin it. That is the most retarded thing ever uttered.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority oh yea thats right i forgot its all sec who get into bowls get paid the same my bad thats my mistake and true no other sport does that so just get a playoff system and again im gonna say of course ur in favor of bcs your a oklahoma fan and if there was a playoff then yall would be the first to go with ohio state............go ahead keep supporting a system that has the most flaws while other sports know how to do it and make MORE money off it
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork GOD DAMN YOU ARE AN IGNORANT STUBBORN FOOL! I show you proof the players and coaches don't want a playoff, give you reason after reason that the playoffs rob the sport and the teams of money and dignity, and still you persist a playoff will fix everything. I thank god the BCS doesn't listen to morons like you and listens to the Universities instead.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority ur a oklahoma fan again i say thats why your all for bcs bullshit championship series and yea bcs dont listen to ppl cuz they want it GONE and how would playoffs rob players of dignity? and they would rob them of money? oh yea cuz nfl playoffs dont make a dime nor does nba or mlb or nhl oh wait.........nfl makes 10 times moe money in their playoffs.......and theres universities who dont do bcs but dont have to worry bout money so yea your money theory blown to hell
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork OK, I'm gonna go over this one more time, and then if you are still to dumb to get it, I'm putting you on ignore. The BCS is listening to the coaches, players, and the universities. Because they are the ones that the BCS has to appeal to and make deals with. A playoff system would get rid of ALL bowl games, PERIOD! And there for, no university, but the national champs, would get any money. This only hurts the smaller schools, who make much less revenue than the larger colleges.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority well thats true but u didnt answer bout the dignity part and dont say it'll mean regular season games wont be worth anything cuz its how u do in regular season that determines a spot in the playoffs... all u talk is money but what can i expect of a fan for a team that if they had playoffs would be the first to go or 2nd enjoy your system thats a popularity contest and 99% of time national title game is one sided lol and go ahead and press ignore u'll just be a bitch
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork Do you not see the big picture? Look at the NFL. A team that was 7-9 got into the playoffs. Granted, college football teams would have to have a better record, but just like the NFL, people would say that there team had the same record and should have gottin into the playoffs. And DIGNITY is lost because in a playoff system, you could lose to a high ranked team, and who cares??? You'd still get into the playoffs, right? So What would that game matter? WHY EVEN WATCH IT????
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority number one yes a 7-9 team got into the playoffs but they had the best record in the nfc west thats why and guess what they didnt win did they and no dignity isnt lost u lose to a high ranked team means you werent good enough to win it all and why would that game matter? cuz its a step closer to the championship and its like saying the sec title or any conference title doesnt matter cuz u still get into a bowl game right? so why would that game matter WHY EVEN WATCH IT?
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork Agian, you are missing the point. Pay attention for once, and stop thinking of your selfish idiocracy. Let's say my Sooners lost to a ranked Texas team and Iowa State. And Boise lost a ranked USC and ranked Oregon. But Oklahoma went to the playoffs and not Boise. Which is most likely what would happen, because even if the BCS is gone, the rankings would still stay. Is that fair? Here's a question, who deserves to get in? A playoff will not fix the argument, only worsen it.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork And as far as dignity, it pertains to teams playing a high ranked opponent. It would no longer matter if your opponent was highly ranked or not. It would only matter your record of wins versus loses. Thus a highly touted rivalry is no longer really a rivalry because wether you win or lose doesn't matter as long as your record is good. GET IT? And you are right. If you have a playoff system, many conferences are debating whether they even need a conference title game for it.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority one last question cuz its apparent as an oklahoma fan ur gonna keep supporting a failed system that votes teams in every year like american idol but if the rivalry games wouldnt matter then why is a rivalry like the celtics and lakers so red hot or yankees vs red sox.....they have playoffs but their rivalries dont matter sorry sir you lose
FRArognetwork 8 months ago
@FRArognetwork OK bud, whatever. Funny that the same failed system put TCU in the Rose Bowl and Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, yet it's keeping those teams from getting into BCS bowls because it doesn't like them right? And why is it you don't name your favorite team? It wouldn't be because you know they suck would it? By the way, the BCS is nothing more than the 5 bowl games at the end of the year. You wanna be mad, be mad at the ranking system that puts teams in those bowl games.
OUfootballAuthority 8 months ago
@OUfootballAuthority Funny those teams both beat super hyped super conference teams that were sure to wipe the floor. Yes I'm a Wisconsin fan admitting that and they lost to TCU. Besides I seem to recall a certain wild card NFL team winning the super bowl last year that would never have gotten a chance in the BCS.
32RedNation 2 months ago
16 teams is right. In 2010, TCU would have won with a victory over Boise State 31 to 27. Oregon is the 6th best team in the land and Auburn is 3rd.
Boelcke1916 1 year ago
The BCS is ruining college football. Put a playoff system in. What you have a national disgrace. Auburn? Auburn is not the best team in the country. The title game should have been TCU versus Boise State.

The funny thing is.. All the retards wanting a 16 team play-off system stilll want a BCS style system to select those 5 remaining teams. At least a component of the BCS system anyway They also have no clue how bad a play-off would actually be for college football. Those who are calling for a play-off are just clueless monkeys who shold be watching soccer instead of the greatest sport on earth.
it isnt just about the fans assholes.
PancakesNGravy 1 year ago
@PancakesNGravy The ONLY monkey and clueless moron here is YOU who is in denial that the system is COMPLETELY broken. How could you have a bunch of undefeated teams but only two can go to the title game? That's just plain dumb. The BCS has been afraud from the beginning bc of the good old boy network.
The big schools don't want to be embarrassed by the smaller ones. How sad is it that a school big or not can go undefeated their whole season but end up with nothing to show for it in the end.
Bigdaddyjobba 1 year ago

Hawkeyesownyou1 1 year ago
@Hawkeyesownyou1 Because using computers along with coaches and reporters votes (many which have never played football they just cover because their part of the sports media) is complete BS. The true Champion should be decided in a playoff on the field. The only reason universities and corps. are for the BCS is the $, Playoff is needed w/ The Rose Bowl (the oldest bowl of them all) as the title game!!!!!
jgshofar 1 year ago
@jgshofar why let go of bowl games? it's been a big college tradition. in a playoff u can probably have a five loss team win it all and that just doesn't tell me who the best team really is.
Hawkeyesownyou1 1 year ago
@Hawkeyesownyou1 The BCS system doesn't always tell us who the best team is more often than not a deserving team is left out. There are so many bowl games now that outside of the major bowls the rest mean nothing there just games that only exist because some corp. put up some money for a "Bowl Game". Having a playoff like the pros is how we will see a real nat'l champ. Regardless of how many losses you have prior if you make the playoffs and no one beats you at the end of the day your the best
jgshofar 1 year ago
@jgshofar how many teams would you put in a playoff if you had to decide? what's the point of conference expansions, and conference championships if we put a playoff in? you take out the best regular season in sports and this is the only sport where i see that every game matters. a playoff only causes more problems. if there was a playoff in the sec championship last year and the year before, the loser would have said "no problem we'll play them when it counts."

@Hawkeyesownyou1 I agree. That takes out the passion and heart of College Football.

@johnnyknox2005 my thoughts exactly! i think there should be a 16 team playoff consisting of all 11 conference champions and the 5 highest ranked remaining teams.
slydawg221 1 year ago
@slydawg221 How should we determine those other 5 teams? hmm.. if only there were some sort of ranking system to do that.. maybe based on stats someone puts into a computer.. or should we have a pre-selected panel of people decide who those 5 will be? Funny how much that sounds like the BCS huh? idiot!
PancakesNGravy 1 year ago
@PancakesNGravy do i have to explain everything to you? haven't you ever heard of the usa today coaches poll? how stupid are you? unlike you i don't tink computers should be allowed to vote on anything.
slydawg221 1 year ago
Exactly, that's why College football is meaningless and only a farm system for the NFL. Only a fool would base a championship on a computer's report or a vote. Let 'em play the game, goddammit!!
farrazano 2 years ago
I would not mind a playoff as long as the BCS Committee controls the process, not the NCAA( ie: National Communists Against Athletes). Also just do away with the unnecessary bowls as well. if we're going to do a playoff. IMHO, the minimum influence the NCAA has on the process, the better.

i say top four team should play for the championship every year while still keeping the bowl system. So every year USC, Texas, Florida, Ohio state will have to win the big game.
marlonakacarter 2 years ago
you say play at the horseshoe in front of 105k fans...i say play at Neyland Stadium in front of 107k fans who are just as crazy. you say Notre Dame could have great things happen this season...i say watch Arkansas and new QB Ryan Mallet improve from last season. i would LOVE to have Florida play USC...it's the game we all want...but i don't think it's gonna happen. my money's on the winner of Texas/OU vs. Florida this year. USC goes 10-2 or possibly 9-3.
ChompTrax 2 years ago
and you're boasting about how great the Pac-10 is when they had a team that didn't win a single game, yet you contradict yourself when LSU plays them? they do it for the money, dipshit! and from the looks of it, Washington could use every penny. oh wait, is this the same school that kicked ass back in 2000? that's my point! ALL TEAMS go through phases. you say Oregon was a high scoring offense... what about Florida? you say Cal has a heisman candidate...hello! Tebow could repeat.
ChompTrax 2 years ago
i think you're forgetting a few things. one, ALL teams go through down times and don't look to be as sexy as they once were but eventually bounce back. the UF/FSU rivalry has been a little one-sided the last 5 years, but that game several times determined who went where in the post season. and you mention USC playing at Auburn... what was Auburn's record that year??? didn't they run the table the next year and get snubbed out of playing for the national title??
ChompTrax 2 years ago
the bcs is such a load of shit, they have had so many fuck ups it's not even funny
1998: Ohio State a much better team than fsu but gets left out
2000: Both Miami and Washington were better teams then fsu, and either of those 2 should have been allowed to play (my vote would have been for uw, because of how tough the pac 10 was that year)
2001: nebraska (3rd best team in conference, plays for nc, nough said)
2003: #1 team gets left out
2004: auburn, team with the toughest schedule sol
gamelvr1 2 years ago
I say yes they do need one. bcuz teams like boise state and utah and teams in non conference have a chance to make a title game. Also it would stop the complaning lol
UTbuckeye93 2 years ago
With a playoff system in college football, USC would be in the title game nearly every year, winning it 8-9 out of 10 times. They're in the discussion for the national championship every season but get low-balled for losing on the road to Oregon State, a team with a 9-4 just like the 9-4 Ole Miss team that beat Florida @ the Swamp.
It's ridiculous. How can you say one is better or worse?
Playoff takes away the speculation of what teams are are aren't truly great.
atm8705 2 years ago
Say what you want about the Pac-10, but the out-of-conference play is what should be considered. SEC plays each other and continues to claim how tough it is, so they don't play ANYONE meaningful out of conference. Then teams like Washington out of the Pac-10, who go 0-12 last season, open this season against LSU.
Great.
SEC sure can dominate them can't they...
atm8705 2 years ago
ChompTrax 2 years ago
Clemson sucked. ASU was even worse. UCLA beat Tennessee. Louisville sucked. Florida State sucked. Arkansas scheduling Texas was ballsy, give 'em that. West Virginia beat Auburn. Wake Forest? haha. nc state? whatever.
Great. You pointed out a few good match-ups. Yes, the SEC did a good job with those schduled games. But.....
Where are the SEC teams that are ACTUALLY WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS?
aka. Florida, LSU...?
Oh right, they're winning because they played TERRIBLE non-conference games...
atm8705 2 years ago
Sorry, but relying on your conference games being "tough" isn't enough. Play at least 1 tough non-conference game and prove you can travel, play away from your comfort zone, and still WIN.
Like USC does. At Nebraska, at Ohio State, at Virginia Tech, at Auburn, at Notre Dame, etc.
Florida and LSU would not play those games. Don't give me the tough SEC bullshit.
USC plays road games this year at Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Cal.
...all ranked teams with high expectations.
atm8705 2 years ago
Oregon was one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation. Cal has the best runningback in the nation (and Heisman candidate) Jahvid Best. Ohio State at the horseshoe with Terrelle Pryor and 105,000 crazy fans. Notre Dame is looking to finally make a statement with enough talent to do it.
4 ridiculously tough road games.
If USC makes it through that 11-1, with 1 road loss, they deserve to play an SEC team in the National Championship.
Hopefully USC-Florida in the rose bowl.
atm8705 2 years ago
ok...so by your rationale, Florida doesn't play any ranked teams that are good enough? lemme see here...
ChompTrax 2 years ago
Yeah, the SEC sure can. Like Washington dominated your precious USC Trojan Condom Company.
Jeff2870 2 years ago
Tennesse? Georgia? Auburn? Ole Miss? Those teams fucking suck! lmao
atm8705 2 years ago
You keep right on laughing your stupid ass off. You name THREE teams from the SEC that are great. Now, can you name even TWO from your pathetic conference? No? Didn't think so. We have 3 GREATS, with 5 others who are capable of beating ANYONE on a given Saturday. You are a jackass, Mr lmao.
Jeff2870 2 years ago
USC would humiliate most SEC teams (again) and would likely beat Florida and LSU handily. Alabama-USC would be the best game.
atm8705 2 years ago
that might be supported IF the conference is strong that year, what happens if the conference is weak but in previous years it had been strong, making it over rated that year (that's what with OSU happened in 2006) we were a strong conference in previous years but that year it had been weak and we were blown out, now eberyone thinks the big 10 is a joke, what would you do if that happened to the "small schools" and then they would never be allowed in without someone saying they are over rated?

Yes there should be a playoff. The BCS has proven that it is incapable of crowning a legitimate champion. unless an "ideal" season plays out, controversy after controversy always stems from the system year in and year out. what better change than to allow a playoff system that will allow conference champions and other great teams around the country to have a chance at the crown. that is legitimacy. until such a system is enacted, college football will continue to be stuck to this topic.

UtesFiesta09 3 years ago 2
The AP needs to do the right thing and vote Utah #1. The BCS championship feels cheap. Utah deserves to be #1. Oklahoma or Florida may deserve a share of the title but Utah should atleast have the other half. If the AP does not give the championship to Utah then the AP voters are just as biased, bigoted and corrupted as the BCS.

the problem with the playoff system is this...
1.) there would be 4 more games.
2.) there will still be controversy for the last spot.
3.) It conflicts with exams for the players.
4.)football is a pretty tough sport and the risk of injury is higher.
Look I not a fan of the BCS system, but the playoff system just is a bad idea.
CanadianZissou29 3 years ago
ummm every game there is risk for injury its a collision sport it happens an if that happens o well it happens to thousands of people what you do is you have 5 bowl games then whoever the top 10 teams win then they advance to 2 semi final bowl games then to the national championship
id rather be national champion then be a pussy an not play an extra 2 games cause jus cause a team looses doesnt mean they dont regroup look at FLORIDA but i think USC VS FLORIDA national championship would be best

NO.. there is a NEED FOR A PLAYOFF. The BCS needs to be REVOKED! Its disgusting that they make money..
westyone1 3 years ago 2
FCS and Divisions II and III have a playoff system with ZERO controversy, as does every other NCAA sport and every sport at the High School AND Professional level (football included)! There is only ONE reason FBS Football continues the BCS with only SIX FBS conferences having ANY access to it, and that reason is the MONEY!
SuperDroogie187 3 years ago
not to mention people, it's not the BCS fault that these schools are not geting a shot, it's the respective school and their respective conferences fault, because if there conference applyed for membership into the BCS, and/or their conference were up to the level of other conferences, there would be no argument that boise, utah and ball state deserve to get in. however, when you have eastern michigan, san jose state and san diego state in your conference, it's nobodys fault but your own.
mexizona858 3 years ago
i,ve been thinking how everybody could be happy, so here's my best idea, first off, NO PLAYOFF. secondly, add two conferences to the six BCS conferences, therefor, all the bcs bids have one per conference. relegate the rest to division 1-AA, there are too many teams in division 1-A, besides, you really think utah state or idaho has a shot at a national title??? third, eliminate some bowl games, there are 29 bowl games, which i would eliminate 15 of them. keep the bowls that matter. there.
mexizona858 3 years ago
16-team playoff. 4 groups of 4, ABCD. Have 8 conference champions and 8 at-large bids, maximum 2 at-large per conference. This year, we'd have 2 from the Big 12 and 2 from the SEC. Those 2 pairs should play each other in the first round. Have the Big 10 champ play the Pac 10 champ in the first round. Keep all conference champs far away from the at-large teams from their own conference and match them up with other teams early on. This leads to great games in every round once you work out details.
mmmcounts 3 years ago
that sounds very well thought out. Im doing a paper on the flaws of the BCS and i wish i would have seen this earlier. Good stuff.
Ryanonfiya90 3 years ago
beside's, on the BCS busters, if boise state or someone of their ilk want to be legit, join the pac-10. because i guarentee you boise state would be 7-5 in the pac-10, nobody with a straight face could tell me they could beat USC. but on the other hand, the only reason people want a playoff is so all these rich, big time schools like florida and lsu (with low academic standards by the way) could be featured all the time, when i don't give a damn about them. screw the overated SEC.
mexizona858 3 years ago
Your comment makes no sence. Under the current system the SEC has won two straight and going for #3 so how would a system that allows the mid majors a shot at title help the SEC? Think before you type.
gatorgreat56 3 years ago
i lost my temper, mainly because josh elliott of espn (who went to school with no football program) is the leader of the college playoff idea. the mid majors have no business challanging for a title, that's why they are mid majors. in wrestling terms, would you let a mid carder be your heavyweight champion of the world??? no, besides, the bcs is best because if you lose one game, your done. therfor, you should win all your games, including not losing to ole miss when you should beat them.
mexizona858 3 years ago
Oh yeah the BCS works so great no way a team with 2 losses could play for the national title under such a great system.

I lost my temper because you're a jackass. How are you to say that the mid majors don't deserve the right? There are mid-majors in BCS conferences (Vanderbilt, Baylor, even Texas A&M this season) that don't belong in the conversation either so yes, your argument sucks hard core.
BradGiovanniItalia 3 years ago
wow someones an idiot...r u even serious... the prolem with your theory is that what happens when theres multiple one loss teams...what do you do there huh...then it comes down to computers and not actually playing it out...and if mid majors have no chance than how did boise st beat oklahoma
wiscstlatlmia 3 years ago
ok first of all the pac-10 sucks...second of all they would not have gone 7-5 they beat oklahoma that year douche...which is better than everyone in the pac-10 except for usc
wiscstlatlmia 3 years ago
You seriously think the Pac-10 would let threats like Boise and Utah in? That thought is even sillier than the BCS itself.
DragonDude1234567 2 years ago
i applaud the BCS, the pac-10 and the big ten for not giving in to a playoff, which would kill college football. it would be another publicly subsidized mess like the nfl, the nba or any other pro sport. this is a case where the people don't know what they want and don't know what's good for them. i sometimes wish miles brand, as much as i hate him, would come out and say to everybody, "we're never going to a playoff and there's nothing you can do about it".
mexizona858 3 years ago
Thats why the BCS sucks, how do you not know that Utah or Boise State would not give Alabama or Florida a run for they're money? Think about it, Florida in NC game, please thats getting as boring as Ohio State two years in a row. hell, Texas would give Alabama and Florida a better shot than Boise State would.
RideWitChrist 3 years ago 2
i will prove once again how smart i am?? boise state, utah and ball state are in non-bcs conferences. now think about this, if the NCAA tomorrow started a playoff, they would trick you, because it would be six BCS conference winners and two BCS at large bids. in other words, why have non-BCS schools play in the BCS title game??? that's like a CFL team playing in the super bowl. a CFL team is not a NFL member, different leagues, therefor, the system in place at least gives non-BCS teams a chance.

Because I know. Alabama is gonna roll tide on them!!! Utah should not even be undefeated TCU should have beat them.

of course we need a playoff system. companies are too greedy to let go of their bowl games

There really isn't controversey. LSU and OSU proved to be the best 2 teams in the country. Tell me a couple reasons why another team should be in there.
buckeyeboy321 4 years ago
On top of all that, the TV companies make huge money on these bowl games. The schools do as well...
evil3mperor 4 years ago
ABSOLUTELY NO PLAYOFF! Keep BCS as is, play the bowls, and play a #1 vs. #2 game at season's end for the title.
You MUST NOT lose the excitement of the regular season. Losing even one football game should make you nervous, otherwise, you will destroy college football.
cheeriopisser2 4 years ago
What happens when you've got 6 or 7 teams outside of the top 1 and 2 who can all make valid arguments for their case? What happens when you have 2 win teams ranking aheadof undefeated and one loss schools?
What happens when we just have no idea who really is the best?
Futuregohan14 4 years ago
you wouldnt say that if you were an Auburn or Boise State fan would you? both teams went 13-0. both teams left out.

Yes...is there anyone out there who doesn't think there should be a playoff especially after the wacky shit that's gone down this season?

should have same system div.1aa uses

I agree there should be a playoff because I don't think LSU is good enough to be in the title game, But I will root for them since Bo Pelini is our new coach...

Yeah, the champion of the SEC isn't usually very good.

If you don't favor a football playoff, ask yourself how you'd feel if there were no March Madness.
OF COURSE there should be a playoff- a +1 idea is lame!

You want to preserve tradition--great, I am a traditionalist, but I get it; this system is broken, and it's time to fix it.
bigbostonfan 4 years ago 2
FFS, who cares about the big ten and the pac ten playing in the Rose Bowl? If a team from another conference plays in the Rose Bowl, is that really the end of the world? USC-Texas, now there was a shitty Rose Bowl, huh? Aweful game, no revenue.
