I am very fond of Angela Gheorghiu, but when she sings this song she is tense.

In addition, a woman's timbre does not fit to this song. So, overall, not so good.

Just because a singer has a good/ brilliant voice, does it not mean that she/he can sing everything? One must consider all parameters before standing up and singing out in “geography”.

I take issue with the way this was filmed. I want to see the singer's face, not the percussionist playing the inaudible triangle, or the sweeping shots over the audience that reveal nothing but the supposed spectacle of the occasion. The brief shot of the children was charming if contrived. There was no focus to the film. If you weren't interested in what was going on, you might be impressed by the lights and the number of people, but try to follow the singing and the video is simply annoying.

Unmusical? I'm certain that I have no idea what that means. It's perfectly fine that your tastes are more inclined towards subtle, staid, "musical" performances. Others, myself included, prefer a little excitement, fun, show, balls, call it what you will. To me, that is music, out of the blood, not up in the air. And stylistically speaking, the last note is quite acceptable in this canzone, which is by no means a serious work.

This is really a gorgeous non ti scordar di me. Her pronunciation of Italian is not always natural (e.g. me -> mee) and even the melody of the song is partly incorrect. However, her voice has an appealing power and attracts us without fail. I am afraid that the last H was not necessary to let her voice remarkable. She does pronounce "me" incorrectly. In Italian it is supposed to be pronounced "may" not "me."

Is it pronounced that way in Romania? I have no idea. Perhaps a native Romanian speaker can enlighten us?

The final high note was kind of a show-off move. I agree that it was unnecessary artistically. The song doesn't really need it in order to come across.

But being at the very end, neither did it detract, and she got a chance to strut her amazing stuff.

I don't believe it is a problem of pronunciation, but of a non perfect closing of the vowel.She speaks Italian very well and don't have propblem of pronunciation, you can hear this in her interviews.

OK, if we are going to nitpick, it's true that in Italian "me" as a pronoun has a bit more open 'e' vowel, and so does "te" (in La vita mia legata e' a te), but who cares? Her Italian diction is otherwise excellent and extremely precise, and besides, she is an extraordinary artist! And yes I heard her in interviews speak Italian and she speaks it fluently.

The grat Italian soprano Renata Tebaldi made a wonderful recording of this song for Decca in 1969.

It was part of an album called "Tebaldi Festival". There are also live recordings of her singing it. It was a favourite of hers.
