Good demo. With properly adjusted settings (per individual unit) I think they'd come across identically. I've used the Boss for 15 years, and love it - selected it because it was (to my ears) closest to Fender amp tremolo. I haven't changed my mind yet, thought the Behringer would certainly serve with careful adjustment.
Maybe the behringer sounds a bit better but the boss pedal box is stronger (behringers is plastic made) Behringer is making easier to everyone to buy a stompbox that is great and the quality is acceptable but c´mon people aN ibanes rg and an ibanez rg prestige both are guitars but its not the same.
Probably the same circuit in both. Since you are only going to use it mildly most of the time the big issue is headroom over background noise. Or kicking it out of the signal path. (Nice article on making a true bypass pedal in this month's Stew Mac catalogue). If you play seriously and earn your living playing then it has to be the Boss for me - having such an inexpensive pedal like the Behringer, in the signal path would worry me. I guess being a Boss user for 30yrs, you'd expect that.
Nice comparison. The Behringer seems to have more effect. However the Boss would be sufficient as I don't see myself running the effect past 2 o clock. I'll probably buy one of each. I use a lot of Boss effects for live playing and I run pretty much Behringer on my home rig for practice.
Even though the berringer has a more fuller smoother sound, my ears prefer the boss tr-2. I guess I am looking at it as just adding an effect to an existing tone rather than adding additional coloring to that tone as I believe the berringer would. Either pedal would work for me. :-)

Boss sounds more intelligently and should blend into musical texture more naturally. However, it is really depends what kind of music is on the go.
