Can we all say Emmy. This episode shows just how great these two actresses are. The way that CC uses her eyes to show Olivia's feelings is fantastic-she can show all of Olivia's emotions with one look. And JL dropping that glass is her way of portraying how Natalia feels. You can see the pain in both these characters eyes. I swear if CC and JL don't win Emmy's this year, I give up, because this is acting at some of its best by both of these actresses.
Notice as 3:00 that Josh is standing behind Nat seeing that she's not paying attention to Billy, then he looks toward Olivia and his expression changes - as if he's noticing her pain.
Liv's speech sounds like something I'd wanna hear said to me at my wedding, sounds like she's saying her vows to Nat, so heartwarming. I think at this point, Nat knows how Liv really feels about her. Everything afterwards and up until thier confessions, is just denial...I think it starts right in this scene.
You are asking why there are mostly men, I think it has been said more than once that Olivia doesn't have too many friends but this is about Natalia upcoming wedding and all she seems to have done in the past is devote herself to Rafe eventhough he was locked up and mostly to Olivia.
Funny how these two only focus on each other and ignore the outside distractions pretty similar to the scenes where rafe is watching them get close together.
Natalia knew what she was going to say, I just don't think she wanted everyone to hear it at the same time. she just wanted it said to her... thats why she drops her glass here but in other times when they're alone she encourages and pushes Olivia to tell her what's shes feeling!
Oh my gosh Liv's toast-could have been part of her wedding vows to Natalia. "And I've also never told you how (much i love you and am in love with you")....Poor Liv-watching her breaks my heart-and Nat didn't hear any of the chatter behind her because she was so focused on the only person in the room (besides Emma-wherever she is) that matters to her. She looked like she was dying to go over to Liv-if only those numbskulls weren't there.

Okay, as brilliant as CC is and as painful as it is to watch her try and hold it together (brilliant I say).. JL is equally brilliant imo. Her anxiety not just about the upcoming toast, but about this whole engagement thing was awesome. She (it seems to me) so knows she's making a mistake but can't figure out what to do. If there are better actors on TV than CC and JL I have yet to see them.
I thought that she looks kind of like Liz Vassey. If you don't know who she is she's on C.S.I. Google her if you get a chance. I think she shows a strong resemblence to JL.
Throughout the storyline, it is remarkable how often the most memorable acting is done by the actress who is not speaking. I'm sure that actors can rehearse inflections and body language but the perfect facial expression? I think you only happens when you are really connected to the material and working across from a great actor/actress. I've rarely seen it done any better than these two.
So true! It's nice to see such a refreshing story and characters on a soap. I have to say I was devastated and cried that week when Lucky (JJ) died. Otalia has brought me back to soaps.
Wow...these two so need to get together already...that speech was just...wow...no ordinary speech. I can't believe how well this story has been told. I haven't been so emotionally invested with a soap couple since the original Lucky and Liz from GH (1997-1999). Oh how I miss those two.

Such a heart wrenching and heartwarming story line and this whole show is on a huge creative upswing and CBS cancels it. I'll admit it, I am livid. Proctor & Gamble needs to save Guiding Light or all the magic will be gone including Otalia. Crystal Chappell can make you feel like you are right there in the room; a rare talent. Natalia is gonna break soon, she's just going to lose it after playing this charade--who could keep this up for much longer? Just WOW!!
Natalia was not afraid that Olivia would embarrass her because she was drinking. She was afraid that Olivia was going to confess her true feelings. Josh may be putting the pieces together from the talk at the bar. I think he will be the one who persuades Olivia to be honest with Nat before the wedding

God, this is so painful. I had to pause it four times to brace myself to even watch it! LOL Too, too cringe-worthy close to the bone...I was a little miffed at Nat for acting like Liv was some lush at the beginning, but it ended well. (or well enuf - for now!) And Interesting looks Josh gives Liv after the glass breaks... Catching on Mr. Lewis?

This scene is flat out brilliant, as painful as it is to watch. It really shows how invisible the intense attraction and bond between the two women is to this ridiculous Greek chorus of men in the background cracking themselves up with sexist cliches. It's as if they are occupying two different planes of reality completely. Josh is the exception, though - he seems to me to recognize what is there between O & N, and it explains his somber face later on...
Uggghh, screw "nice to have a man around the house." She can do stuff herself! And so can any woman, even if she does have a man around. You know, I think this kind of ridiculously pervasive attitude that's still around is why so many women don't, or think they can't do something.
And my heart breaks for Otalia. I think maybe Natalia is starting to regret her decision. I hope?

I just LOVEE that Liv and Nat simply could NOT take their eyes off of each other for the entire party. Nat just looked absolutely entralled. At 0:36 I bet Nat's heart was pounding like a boombox.
At 2:18 you can see Nat swallowing a huge lump in her throat and then she drops her glass soon after. She must have felt Olivia would have declared her love for her, and as a result she got scared.
5! I fall asleep with my laptop beside me, and I read the AM synopsis that *name escapes me* posts on the CBS thread, only then can I function at work.
5+. The time is now 04.15, and I soon expect to se the morning shine trough my window. But I'm still here. Watching Otalia is so much more fun than sleeping. We can do that when we retire.
Forget 5 I'm a 10! I haven't watched tv, read a newspaper, watched the news or gotten through a single day w/out checking my phone, laptop, etc for Otalia updates since I discovered them. I'm blessed to have an understanding partner (who isn't into Otalia, she's crazy people but I love her) that hasn't completely put me out of the house yet. We were on our way out Sat night why was I checking comments on my phone the entire ride? I'm surprised I didn't have to walk back home..haha
Thank goodness others are acting like this too! I was beginning to question my sanity! I just got my best friend hooked on Otalia too because I needed a live person to talk to about O & N & Emma!

I think that after all of the crap he did to people and himself and people forgave him most notably Daddy HB, he could forgive Olivia. Also, remember as an recovering Alcoholic, he and Ed always had to be careful to check their drinks. I must say it was strange to see him and Matt in the same room since they were both married to and have children by Vanessa.
It's kind of sad that there were no women. It would have been nice to see Lillian, Daisy, Ashlee, Blake, Mel & Christina there. It would have been more fun.
I thought that too, but then I though...how cool was it that O, who has always been so male focused, always seeking out the attention, gaze, validation? of men, is toasting, surrounded by a whole group of men and the center of their attention, and she only has eyes for a woman - her Natalia. No one else exists then. She has it so bad...if she and N don't hook up, not only will she lose out there, but she may be wrecked for any future relationship....N did change her completely - soul deep.

I was thinking the same thing. Also how so many people in the room have been with Olivia, - Frank ( a little), Buzz, Josh, and then her old father-in-law. But she only had eyes for Natalia, and Nat is the only one who has forever changed her like she said.
I think that the speech wouldn't have worked if women had been there. They would have told the guys to not interrupt and they would have caught Otalia's emotional love connection. The guys just didn't see it because to them there is no possibility of two women falling for each other.
There was 2 different conversations going on. Otalia were in a room by themselves when they were staring at each other, with Liv crying and Nat not hearing anything around her. Women would have picked up on that

This scene is flat out brilliant, as painful as it is to watch. It really shows how invisible the intense attraction and bond between the two women is to this ridiculous Greek chorus of men in the background cracking themselves up with sexist cliches. It's as if they are occupying two different planes of reality completely. Josh is the exception, though - he seems to me to recognize what is there between O & N, and it explains his somber face later on...

Uggghh, screw "nice to have a man around the house." She can do stuff herself! And so can any woman, even if she does have a man around. You know, I think this kind of ridiculously pervasive attitude that's still around is why so many women don't, or think they can't do something.
And my heart breaks for Otalia. I think maybe Natalia is starting to regret her decision. I hope?

I have given myself a midnight Otalia curfew after the last couple of weeks of craziness, so ciao, y'all.
HOWEVER -- this was a WATERSHED DAY for Otalia, yes? Olivia (it took me a while to see this) actually DID put it all out there to Nat today, paradoxically UNDER THE COVER of the gaze of others!
She used code, and yet she was explicit, it's undeniable now.
How do y'all reckon Ellen W. et al have had the time to come up with this Liv/Nat scripting that's so intricately constructed?

I just LOVEE that Liv and Nat simply could NOT take their eyes off of each other for the entire party. Nat just looked absolutely entralled. At 0:36 I bet Nat's heart was pounding like a boombox.
At 2:18 you can see Nat swallowing a huge lump in her throat and then she drops her glass soon after. She must have felt Olivia would have declared her love for her, and as a result she got scared.

Forget 5 I'm a 10! I haven't watched tv, read a newspaper, watched the news or gotten through a single day w/out checking my phone, laptop, etc for Otalia updates since I discovered them. I'm blessed to have an understanding partner (who isn't into Otalia, she's crazy people but I love her) that hasn't completely put me out of the house yet. We were on our way out Sat night why was I checking comments on my phone the entire ride? I'm surprised I didn't have to walk back home..haha

I know, what you mean, I'd go w/a 4.5...This story is just too close to real life for me at the moment..and the lines are getting seriously blurred..and shucks..it DOES dig up some old stuff as well..strange, isn't it, just how many women I've known,going the Furter way of life, in this "enlightened age and time", in an urban setting? I don't think she would've used the words "I love you" but maybe something very close so that only Nat would know what she meant. I'm still trying to figure out if Nat dropped the glass on purpose or if she did it by accident not realizing what she did? Either way I think she will regret it by the end of this episode!! I watched it early...GREAT episode! It's a shame I have to watch this w/a drink in hand!! The angst is killing me ;-( but I love it!!

I think that after all of the crap he did to people and himself and people forgave him most notably Daddy HB, he could forgive Olivia. Also, remember as an recovering Alcoholic, he and Ed always had to be careful to check their drinks. I must say it was strange to see him and Matt in the same room since they were both married to and have children by Vanessa.

I thought that too, but then I though...how cool was it that O, who has always been so male focused, always seeking out the attention, gaze, validation? of men, is toasting, surrounded by a whole group of men and the center of their attention, and she only has eyes for a woman - her Natalia. No one else exists then. She has it so bad...if she and N don't hook up, not only will she lose out there, but she may be wrecked for any future relationship....N did change her completely - soul deep.

I think that the speech wouldn't have worked if women had been there. They would have told the guys to not interrupt and they would have caught Otalia's emotional love connection. The guys just didn't see it because to them there is no possibility of two women falling for each other.
There was 2 different conversations going on. Otalia were in a room by themselves when they were staring at each other, with Liv crying and Nat not hearing anything around her. Women would have picked up on that

You know Ladies, I do have the strong suspicion, that one of the reasons the Otaliaboard is so abuzz(forgive the pun) with the fighting to keep GL alive spirit, is this sexual tension, that we're trying to ahm, work off...if this coninues anoher two weeks, I'll seriously have to get a treadmill...Seriously, right now, I'm subliminating it by eating late at night!(there's a strict no drinking by myself rule enforced here..;-)

Yes but what is happening with them is between them not everybody to know! In a way I understand Olivia's pain but to make such a show in front of all? But this was a huge steep because now Natalia understands and as well Olivia that this is not something to ignore anymore! It has to be real...But only between them at first....private,intimate...who knows...for more maybe! j/k lol
