Windows 7 on Acer Aspire One Netbook

how does it run?

I have a dell mini with an intel atom processor, and 1gb of ram.

i know it meets minimum requirements, but does it run well on netbooks?

it's windows 7 Ultimate, if that matters

I would seriously recommend u too get the RAM upgraded to 2Gigs if u r gonna have multiple windows open!

But even with 1Gigs the Windows 7 Starter Version(For Netbooks) will run absolutely fine...

Any other version is not recommended though!...

i install on mine the ubuntu 10.10 they work great and its running better than windows 7 or xp plus it will never goind to get any viruses or to stock.....

everyone knows that when u install fresh windows they work great but after few months they get slower...ubuntu always works good...try and u will see what i mean

My partner and i downloaded Windows7 on my own notebook and it runs flawlessly. I down loaded it via Windows7FreeDLXcom (replace X with . ) and it ran fine.

Of course you where impressed, my netbook (HP Mini 110) has windows 7 ultimate. No Joke! It runs just fine. Maybe I will install a video creating software and record my desktop and come back with it.

Yes, you should install RC. Win7 is as fast as, if not faster than XP. In fact, you should consider pre-ordering Win7 now because Microsoft is offering steep discount (over 50% off) for a limited time (expires July 11).

yeah i watched some videos where people booted there XP and windows 7 together

so far it seemed just as fast

maybe a little slower on the boot up though

problem is i wanna dual boot it though cuz i heard lots of people were having driver problems on there netbooks

or should i do a clean install??

i just installed 7 on my acer 100 netbook 512 ram 8gb ssd.

Did it from a ghost file in 5 minutes, no install necessary. It then installed all the drivers itself inclusing wifi and sound etc.

Works perfect.

you need win 7 lite ghost

and a few things to make a bootable usb including win98 boot files

@wolfshalabh windows xp is better then windows 7 starter, trust me.. on windows 7 starter you cant customize it at all, not even change the screen background it sux

Windows 7 does look allright running on netbooks, it's interface seems more user friendly than that of vista, but if under all the eye candy it's just like vista, it just won't be worth it.

The 'eye candy' is the only thing similar to vista.

Win 7 is much more than eye candy. Try running Vista on a netbook and you will now it's painfully slow. But Win7 or netbooks? No problem!
