  • And I like this interpretation for all the things you guys don't like about it :)

  • I do like Slava's better, but I can appreciate both; Rostropovich's is very wise and maternal, Ma's is like a child.

  • Unfortunately it is not on Youtube, but Starker's interpretations of this piece are by far the best in my opinion. So incredibly pure and emotional

  • everyone do realize that this is younger yo yo ma. he was in his 20's when he recorded this so of course hes gonna mess up just a bit. matured yo yo ma sounds much better but this is still an important recording..

  • はやくてもオーケー!!!

  • beginning at 0:50 he kinda slows down, otherwise his tempo, though it may seem uneven, if u listen closely he compensates the chords with faster 8th notes.

  • Good playing! Nice

  • if you hear his "inspired by bach" version it still sounds very similar. when he gets older he breaks the chords differently. amazing anyways. loved it

  • This one feels choppy, and the tempo is insanely jumpy. I do prefer Maisky's over this.

  • @TheGENEious i like rostropovich's version

  • agreed on the tempo. the 'inspired by bach' versions i feel are much more appropriately paced. it's neat seeing how even a prodigy like yo-yo gets better throughout his life

  • I don't need a metronomic performance of the gavottes, in fact dun want one. But having said that, I do with this were a tad slower played.

  • eh... i like maisky's better. his is more flowy and still has a bite. this sounds a little choppy to me

  • He needs to be more even with his tempo; it's pointless to go fast in between the chords if when he gets to another he has to slow down as if they're roadblocks.

  • I don't know...I always thought that Yo-yo Ma played his suites rediculously fast. I like the speed for some, but not for others. I guess that's his interpretation of them...It sounds good for some of them, the gigue in particular. Either way, he's still an amazing cellist!

  • wonderful!!
