Do you HAVE to use a size 10? Because I inherited a bunch of needles from my great grandmother when she passed, and I can't tell them apart at all. XP

@TearsBehindSmiles you don't! it depends on the yarn, usually it will tell you what size is ideal. But you can probably eye-ball it (thicker yarn thicker needles, vice versa). I think they just picked size 10 because bigger yarn and bigger needles is best for beginners.

For a beginner, I found this video very fast and confusing. I just wish it was a tiny bit slower. It would have also helped if the steps were explained a little bit more.

tip: use thick wool and really thick needles, this makes your scarf really cozy and a little loose, it's no fun if you have a super tight-knit scarf, and with thick needles, you'll have a scarf ready in no time!! small needles take forever

My children's dentist knits. He is an awesome knitter. He can knit really complicated things and is always willing to help out with a knitting problem. In fact, where I live there are several young and old knitters, and the local college actually offers knitting classes during the summer. I have only made scarves, but I hope to do more as I find knitting easier than crochet.
