good tips for beginners is: Always start out with economy, you cant live on financial aid from other countries.

When you have strong economy build houses, A resturant or Pub. A church but dont build everything very fast then yuor economy collapses, Build Armory and recruit generals. Guard stations because very early in game there is several rebellions. keep building farms to increase your economy. this tips makes the game easier to play

How do you get more people on the island? I've been the demo for days now and had about 800 people but then it went down to 760 and I can't get more. I've done a contraception ban, set clinics to obstetrics and had open doors or else no emigration. Tons of jobs are out there and plenty of homes. I would make much more money if more people came.  Any ideas on getting more people in the demo?

Financial aid.

It took me awhile to get used to the slow pace.

Don't build too much, because every building you build, you have to spend money on maintening it. Build like 2 buildings between each financial aid and exports income

wonder if this is better than anno 1404 (dawn of discovery). i didn't like the new anno. far too much management and too easy to cripple economies. and the military still sucks.  this game looks like it might be more fun.
