  • really, really nice....

  • Pretty good man. Don't listen to all the negative people. I liked it, and im sure that Carter would be cool with it.

  • my grandmother could play dmb better you and she dies in 1986. horrible. you get a F from me in my gradebook. FAIL

  • @Buckfutter1000 lay off.

  • @Buckfutter1000 You're grandmother's death was more productive than your life. Shut the fuck up. So its not perfect. But the dudes damn good, has great control, and knows his away around a drumset...But maybe try practicing your timing and rhythm a bit, Travis.

  • why would you even bother trying, you hit those cymbals like a woman. Leave this song to carter please

  • @Jgrant379 harsh....

  • The thing that Carter has most unique to himself is the ghost notes he plays.. semi decent cover but not even close to the original.

  • just wondering man, but what mics do you have and how many??? Thanks, dude.. keep on drumming man... :)

    - Alex

  • Nice job!!!! excellent vid.

  • awesome man! i dont understand why there is so many dislikes

  • wow what a hack

  • good job on the high hat

  • Good Job man....

  • With... ?

  • nice job bud, i like the kit also

  • Yea great job man!

  • Carter beauford doesnt have poor diddle quality like that, but I like your feel of linear drumming, don't rush fills, but other than that you did fairly well :D

  • you need to tune your snare

  • great!

  • what recording equipment are you using? sounds great

  • good job! my only critique is to get an Acquarian head for your floor tom, just like the one on the tom tom.

  • Wow, thats impressive.

  • very simple version

  • best drummer in the world

  • I hate critics, just keep playing

  • Not really a great job, it has to be said. timing is way off on intro and throughout the song

  • I agree with drag0n it's a good attempt but just not any where near what it's supposed to be. but we r talkin bout carter!! so i give him props for trying? i am a seasoned drummer and i couldn't even play that song! and if i did try i sure as hell wouldn't post it up for you all to see lmao!!

  • Great job keeping simple and syncopated :) And with such a simple kit.

    Well Done.

  • if you read the sheet music or watch carter closely youll see he uses lots of grace not on the snare during the verses. this guy is is playing a lot on the hihat and playing quarter notes on the snare. i dont think this is a good job at all. carters playing is filled with litthe nuances that this guy totally, and completly misses.

  • @drag0n3y31 Whoa harshly served lol. I think that's why he said drumming "with" carter so you might appreciate him paying homage.

Either way if you lay on your back and then fart, you can really get your own nuances.

  • @lostfeelinggonegone man, one day ima post me playing this song. i've studied carters style since i was in 8th grade. play left handed and everything. one day though lol

  • Bravo indeed. Awesome job.

  • Pretty easy beat if you ask me

  • For all the haters out there...I dont see your video on here. I think this is a great video, and well played, especially since this gentleman doesnt have half the setup Carter does and probably hasnt been playing as long. Still very entertaining...Haters gonna hate...ignore em.

  • great work, well done.

  • honestly you were off a lot. you look so stiff! slow it down have fun with it. no one can top carter. you did good. but relax.

  • Awesome hi-hat work.

  • Bravo davvero, complimenti fratello

  • mess up once mess up twice on purpose make your error be coverd up trust me i know good job

  • well done

  • Nice drumming. Keep it up. :)

  • Nice drumming. ALthough personally think Dave Matthews music is fuckin 'orrible...

  • laying back and trying open handed is alot easier said then done, you should know this if your an "experienced drummer" as you said. being able to change and lead with your left is a task when all you know is leading with your right. trust me if you could just lay back and play open handed you would see alot of drummers like carter. With that being said i can count about only 5 guys off the top of my head who can do the amzing task of open hand.

  • you are not carter beauford :(

  • @MRJbong duh, Dude don't be like that

  • @MRJbong Are you?

  • @ruihopffer needs to learn to spell right, haha. Yes RIGHT not "wright"

  • its always hard covering drum legends

    good job and keep practicing!

  • Good work.... I like your tone. I would recommend trying to tighten up the grove on your snare. It seems like your searching for the groove. sometimes your rushing it a little and when you get more busy on the high hat it feels like you are reaching for that snare hit and your a bit behind. ( I'm a bass player and consistency in groove what I listen for) Otherwise man I dig the chops keep it up and I'm sure you'll be top dogging it. WORD!

  • god! you need to pratcice a more man...

  • cuenta para sumar le doy un 7.

  • good

  • es una basura....... no vas en tiempo. y se escucha la otra bateria....

    mejor no subas poruqerias ...

  • pesimooooooooooo

  • congrats on 157 k views !! carter is one of my all time fav drummers.... :)

  • less is more, my friend... you already have nice technique but you should use you ear a little more and play more relaxed... but it's a good song! thanks for posting!

  • very nice ! ! !

  • dude you played this very nicely. you look like your having fun. i cant believe all the f-in critics. they forget what youtube is all about, posting videos, the good, the bad and the ulgy. and this was a good one. keep jamin.

  • @1993rens1993

    Show Us ....

  • What is this? Dear God! I undestand you like to play, but seriously, you must practice a lot more to play this wright.

  • wow. seriously. this is awesome. I love DMB. I can play most of his stuff on base and guitar but have been trying to pick up drums lately and... wow... you're awesome.

  • Dude, I agree...you need to lighten up a bit! It's really good, but after watching I need to smoke a doober just to unwind.

  • Yeah man! Very good! Dont be so mechanical though, have a little more fun with it. Youre doing great and mimicking carter isnt easy at all though.

    Thouroughly impressed!

  • no bad man,

but you gotta lay back some...feel the groove and swing it.

dont force the notes to come out, theyre gonna do their own thing.

  • How much pot did you smoke before writing that comment?

  • You have talent. But I don't feel you're having any fun, am I wrong? Feels like your playing a regular 4:4 with chad Kroeger... This is Carter Beauford... Think funk, think fun and listen. Truly listen at how he plays. Focus on ghost notes. Beauford is notorious for his great sense of detail. Keep up the practice!

  • ehh

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome job!!!!! I enjoyed this, nicely mixed too!!

  • fantastic job

  • You have the chops, relax and pay extra attention to those ghost notes. you might want to experiment with your wrists turned over with your thumbs facing up and not the tops of your hands. Great music though, you do a fanta

  • you are a decent drummer, no you are a very good drummer, but you are forcing your notes.... feel the music brother, feel the music.

  • you need an immense amount of practice..seriously

  • Very Groooovy

  • dood what you need to practice on is laying back and enjoying the ride...what i mean by that is that you need to think funky thoughts and not worry about screwing up and just go for whatever you think is necessary man...im a very experianced drummer and trustt me dog just lay back and and try open handed it sounds better

  • exactly what i was gonna say! u need to listen harder too, dude! u sound almost nothing like carter, and just because u dont listen all that well! u can surelly play and all... =)

  • @achase2012 Hes got a good point me and mah girlfriend have both been drummin since we was like 5 or 6 and just enjoy what you do i dunno who this guy is but like i said hes gotta good damn point.

  • raw

  • good job...this is one of my favorite songs...but sometimes it's better to keep it simple like beauford

  • is easy to see that you is a good drumer but its so different of the real music, and are big mistakes.

  • dued watch your tempo and bass work to simple

  • i doubt you wanna hear this but the mics suck...i cant really tell if they're there or not

  • well done dude!

  • Kickass!!! great job

  • It's not as easy to mimic when you're mimicking an open-handed, ambidextrous drummer.

    Overall, not bad.

  • very nice well done

  • this guy must be a drumline/marching band drummer because his footwork on the bass drum is too simple for this song...and he's a little fast....but besides that he's pretty good.....he's nailing the hi hat just like Carter

  • Very nice!! Keep it up!

  • It's hard to follow a drummer like Carter Beauford, great job...

  • esas son pendejadas jajaja pobre wey

  • All you guys who say "this sucks..." or whatev, let's see you post something that is even close to this good. It's not perfect, but he is trying to match the king. Lay off and don't be so freakin mean.

  • the-top-tens(dot)com/lists/best-rock-drummers.asp

    vote for Carter!!

  • Why is your snare so low? It's way below your knees.

    Awkward much?

  • it's not the best cover I've seen but I like it! Nice job!

  • sexy snare

  • Comment removed

  • interesting setup. I like it.

  • u fuck up

  • Who think the snare drum sounds terrible?

I think it is good so! Not too much overtones.

  • I think he play quite good! ;)

  • listen carefully to the highhat and kick accents starting at 1:35. they are more syncopated and consistent than what you play.

another part of carter's unique style is his HH work: much syncopation, some of which you are hitting spot on, some of which you are not. don't let the syncopation make you lose your pocket. since he plays L.H. lead he also has a little more freedom. you can do this R.H. but i would move your L.H. left so the crossover doesn't get in the way of the syncopated notes.

  • part of the unique aspect of this beat as that carter avoids hitting the kick on beat 3, instead playing on the & of 3. try doing the same and it will sound less like a rock beat and more like a funk beat.

  • This is'nt bad in any way, there is a lot hard stuff in this song and this guy does it almost perfect, there are some misses here and there but wtf. He's human is'nt he ? People who say this is bad are just looking to start an argument. ^^

  • cool

  • why is this bad?

  • try moving that snare mic away from the snare. and try keeping the tempo and groove and you'll get it soon.

  • who says jazz drummers are only supposed to have one rack and one floor? maybe you shold tell dave weckl his set is too big. idiot

  • dude, this is terrible, sorry.

  • really not bad.. i cant play it better..

  • That is Horrible!

  • great cover man!

  • i like this style, its cool!

  • my friends look our #41 tribute cover..

  • like the drumming

  • well im sorry i made so many people cry about that comment, maybe i didnt get what i really wanted to say out right: i personally hate drummers who have sets larger than 5 pieces when they cant back it up, e.g. most young guys with rich parents, but when your going to try to play some beauford, a punk set up dsnt cut it. i mean this guy made a valient effort, but we all know that some rudimentary work could really steady his uncontrolled hands and open up his hat rolls

    hope this cleared my name

  • you made two different comments making two opposing points. you said you didn't get your point out the first time. at least you got that part right. by the way; if your name on youtube is areallygooddrummer, you cannot cannot cannot expect anyone to take you seriously.

  • thanks for reading it bud.. im pretty sure i made it clear that my first comment was out of line with what i meant to say.. and i realize that my name may be misleading.. but then again, i dont think your a puppy in the military.. so were even haha =]

  • k dude thats how his set is supposed to look. jazz drummers have one tom and a floor tom along with their snare.

  • Mate, just shut the fuck up if you don't know what you are talking about. A 4-piece kit is a great setup and there are no problems with it. Not everyone needs to have a 5+ piece set so just lay off.

  • the size of someones kit does not determine how well they play

  • Your a dumb piece of shit.

  • Not even close to the actual song!!! WAY OFF

  • pretty good you need to loosin it up a bit though

  • it would be best to take this video down as soon as possible.

  • hahahhhhhhahahahahahahaahah funniest comment ever, im gonna steal that line lol sorry

  • ah i duno coupla more toms for dave matthews music wudnt go dwn bad i mean seriously carter uses like 5 toms ur just not gona get the same sound from just 2 though i do use 2 i wudnt attempt his music with out at least 3 but nyway yeh mic up that bass nd loosen up ur left hand wrist for those accents nd louder cymbal smashes! but all in all on the right path ltr dude

  • great job, dont listen to these people...if u could get a mic down to the bass drum that would be cool

  • njae

  • metronome

  • i agree...but still better than I could do

  • wats the name of the song reli gd

  • its called #41

  • pretty good. you're cymbals sound amazing, by the way.

  • cool headline;)

    but untight drums;(

    POSER!

  • valient effort?

  • Aprendase bien los rudimentos primero mijo... 5 horas diarias... mal, mal, mal...

  • dude, you know how to mic a kit! sounds fab, but yeah, metronome needed methinks

  • very good man. Respect

  • Sorry for the bluntness, but if you posted this video I guess you want comments on your play. Bro, you should work on playing along to something more simple, you're very far from being "in the pocket" and definitely need to start practicing with a metronome.

  • Comment removed

  • need a metronome

  • not bad at all

  • FAIL

  • is there a little lag in this video or is it me? as a drummer myself, it drives me a little crazy to see one thing and hear another...lol. anyway, i mean, it's not carter, but it's some tasty stuff man. keep it up. you're doing great.

  • I think I sounded a lot like that when I first started playing DMB songs in my headphones while learning to play drums...we all gotta start somewhere. In my humble opinion, I'd keep workin on a solid groove...once you get that down then start adding the 'Carter Beauford' style on the hi-hat and the rest of the kit. But nothing wrong with trying something more difficult like this to get better...it's good to stretch yourself.

  • suxxxxx

  • Hmm, okay, every time I watch this the difference between the picture and the sound changes so I guess it's something about my connection or my hardware or browser or whatever. Still, really nice job man. I'm no drummer but I am a musician and I dig :)

  • Hey, is it my hardware or is this a bit out of sync? No offense, nothing against your drumming I'm just wondering cuz with me the picture is like half a second behind the sound. Anybody else got that problem?

  • Very good job

  • i think its a good attempt, i think the thing that's missing is the ghost notes during the chorus.. well, thats how carter plays it, im not saying you should too. after all, you make your own music..

  • great cover dude, nice job with the hi-hat too

  • ugh...you haters need to shut the fuck up...beauford HIMSELF doesn't even play shit the same exact way live...so how can you expect anybody who isn't beauford to play it exactly like him...so he put his own spin on things...God-forbid he tries to be an individual...damn

    5 stars my man

  • I love your attitude. I mean that in a good way great comment!

  • nice

  • good drumming, just needs a bit more practice. I used to play the chorus the same way for a while until I got it with the ride cymbal.

and just curious, what hats are those?

  • nice

  • go check out my drum cover for this song...peace...

  • Dude, you got some big balls trying this and throwing it up on youtube, so I admire that. But as one poster said, good attempt but not really close! ;-)

  • i kind of feel like he's puttin a little bit too much effort into replicating the high hat work of beauford. overall pretty nice though. i couldn't do better.

  • plus, carter is ambidextrious. which makes it very difficult emulate. so this dude did a damn good job of it.

  • not even close

  • thank you.

im glad im not the only one that realizes this.

  • does it matter? hes still an amazing drummer.

  • Good job!

I felt like if the music wasn't holding your tempo,... it would've changed. You need to clean up all of those fills.

  • great job man!

    like ur version of it!

im mainly a metal drummer but i just started getting lessons i wanna diverese my sound up tho

    great job tho man

  • Hahahahahahaha... please tell me you are kidding.

  • Drum videos have to be synched right with the audio or it throws the whole thing off... Not bad drumming though, it needs work but its not bad

  • Problems with the hi-Hat work at the beginning or is it just the way you play it, sort of your own version? But anyway you did a great job =)

  • This bloke never claimed to be Carter.

If you can do better, post your video.

If not, pull your fucken head in.

  • are you gonna tell me you can do better?

obviously not considering you had the nerve to put such a disgusting drum solo on your profile...
