We know a lot about the forerunner, as the games and books are stuffed with goodies left behind, however in metroid the only piece of Utopian age Chozo technology found is certain upgrades found in Samus' armor, as most of the suit contains declining age Chozo technology.
for all we know, yeah the Chozo were as good as the forerunner in their prime, or even possibly as good as the Precursors, for all we know there were not.

Halo Didn't copy anything other than than the generic "Space soldier vs aliens that threaten humans" bit that wasn't original to metroid. and while a lot of story elements are held within both stories are similar albeit different in roles for most cases. the Original Halo, which came before metroid prime, was NOTHING like Metroid, Return of Samus, or Super Metroid.
@galestin Well, the armor the forerunner's where in Halo Legend Origin, does look bird like and vaguely reminds me of the chozo. But I'm pretty sure Bungie may have been going for something along the lines of the forerunners inspire ancient culture, like the Egyptian, like Nintendo did in Zero Mission
what with the "Flood" being this means of whipping all life in the galaxy, and the Ark being were all the Halo's where created and the genetic material of all creatures stored to use for cloning after they fired the Halo array
the Chozo, however, I imagine they went with Egyptian as perhaps the Egyptians mistook the Chozo for gods, as I think more than one of their gods are bird-headed.

Listen, I don't doubt the Chozo could very well have been as good or even better than the Forerunner. the potential is there, but it is not expressed in enough ways to actually prove it. only hint towards it.
it may prove harder still seeing as the next few Halo games are even more revolved around the Forerunner and possibly the Precusors, while Metroid games have started leaving them out the Chozo more often.

@GTA4fanatic118 Metroid fusion and Prime came out almost a year after Halo Combat Evolved. A three games were probably in development around the same time. The manga that gave us the information that the Chozo were fighting the X came out in 2004 when Zero Mission was released. Bungie didn't copy the X or the Chozo. Hell it's more likely Nintendo copied Bungie given how similar the Chozo/X story is to the Forerunner/Flood.

you've not actually said anything to prove the Chozo's technological ability.
The issue is there's absolutely nothing to compare Chozo technology to Forerunner technology. we've got the power suit, and that's about it. the power suit isn't enough to compare, especially since we've not seen a Forerunner combat skin to compare it too. Even the Didact's armor, supposedly the lv 18 armor, was only vaguely talked about in Cryptum.
@galestin now I think we both know that metroids are extremely deadly such as the flood in mass production they cant be killed without the use of ice (this is true for the most part in the games but you had to be able to kill them so in metroid prime you can kill em without ice)now that is a huge difference with metroids and flood flood can be killed with most weapons machine guns snipers rockets etc. while the only true weakness of a metroid is ice and flood do evolve but not to the same extent
Oh, I won't doubt metroids are more powerful, doesn't make them more dangerous but definately more powerful, issue with the flood is that it grows intelligence. Metroid's degree of intelligence is very primative, but Flood become as smart as their prey, much like the X parasite does, but the Flood creates the Gravemind to be a centralized embodiment. it's the flood's intelligence and their ability to plan, and to gather more that make them more of a threat than Metroids.
metroids would win. short of perhaps luring metroids into area's and kill them with nuke level explosives, no flood form can harm a metroid. Metroids, with their energy draining abilities and being energy based life forms are outright immune too the flood's infection ability.
while cold based weapons are not uncommon in Metroid, they are unheard of in Halo.
@galestin No I'm pretty sure you can use super missiles in Zero Mission to do damage without the ice beam. But I could be wrong and it could be power bombs. Either way you can kill Metroids without the ice beam
they tried to augment themselves in the same means the Chozo did Samus (which was stopped), and didn't seem to be using much new things even after they succeeded in invading Zebes. and only later did they make field copies of Chozo beam weapons and failed at the armor and morphball. they copied at best the declining age technology, and seemingly not all that much.
@galestin after the chozos reached the highest technology possible they set out to become higher beings beyond the physical world due to the fact that after milleniums the chozo race declined in numbers in zero mission we see the chozos culture as similar to egyption as you stated which leads me to suspect that egyptians had some connection with the chozo in the past as we see in chozo ruins in metroid prime one of the first lores states than building with stone is a sacred tradition to chozo
@galestin as you may or may not know the chozo used to be an extremely proud warrior race after age made them physically less able to keep this tradition they changed their mindset to technological superiority and set out to help share technology with the rest of the galaxy now as you may know the flood in halo are similar to the x parasite in metroid but the outcome was much different the forerunners built halo rings which ended up killing them but the chozo created a natural predator metroids.
when the Forerunner's encounter the Flood, they were already rampant in the galaxy. the Chozo on the other hand found the X on an isolated planet that on it's own the X could not leave. And the Chozo were granted the ability and time to develope a quiet means to take care of the X.
@galestin if you read the forerunner book that recently came out you would know that the forerunners were at war with the humans and were generally a dominant destroying race that book gave new insight on forerunners they were generally before now thought to be peaceful and knowladge based people but in fact it was until the creation of the halo rings that they truly made a decision based on the well being of the universe and not their own agenda.
I can see it now samus and chief a team :) ,they both get off the falcon ready to fight,chief speeds off at his 30 - 60 miles per hour speed,samus being left behind slightly amused,then,...samus takes off at her speed of sound speed,ripps through cheifs armour says oops and finishes the fight in less than an hour,while if chief did the mission it would take him days,weeks idk,but certianly samus would finish the mission 100x faster :)
samus would hop mountains as a kid for fun and that was on zebes were the gravity is much much greater than earth's. She would break rock as a kid too. She also doesn't need an AI to deal with tech because she can deal with tech herself. Although her brain is not as fast as cortana's processing unit, her suit has more functions than spartan armour plus the flood are controlled gravemind the X are not

As opposed to trying to compare two different universes with a lot of separate mechanics and stories behind them lets look at the practicality and realism of it all.

@choochoodude54 A mini nuclear reactor however is very possible, its actually something people are working on today, also Chief's armor has the right dimensions for what it would do the metroid armor looks almost skin tight except for the shoulders and chest.

As does samus and MC and her being BF& GF high chance but for a short time. Samus is always on the move she hunters aline monsters for a living MC i s to called in when an entire planet is under attack by aline monsters. They would have a very long distance relationship and probably only talk once a year for Samus is asways losing her equipment and MC is kind of always trapped by an ambush of hyper space ninja zombies.

Technically speaking, Samus was once a Super soldier who got super armor from her foster parents (who are also genetically related too her now through SCIENCE!) who participated in war if you know her history.

the flood are NOT as capable or powerful as the X Parasite Samus faced in Metroid Fusion.
the X are capable of pretty well everything the flood are, except they multiply faster, do not need hosts to increase their ranks (flood only do that in desperation), and are NOT killiable by weapons short of total atomic destruction (or metroids, but not something Chief can replicate).
may i also add that they can copy the dna and memories from their previous host as well, since they did know the method of killing metroids, as the Sa-X used that method of killing samus who now shares that weakness. meaning that their capability of intelligence is only limited to how many creatures they can absorb

Inferior armor system: Samus' armor is much better tailored combat and deals with high level forms of attack than the Mjolnir mk VI can handle with an over-shield and possible a Kig-yar shield gauntlet all tacked onto his armor.
and even with cortana, Samus has better detection and scan gear. Cortana may be thorough, but Samus' can get even smaller details that Cortana WISHES were in the chief's armor
Samus can scan for Weaknesses too, even so far down the line to microscopic level or even genetic weaknesses in DNA, as well as the type of data cortana can provide, which includes near instant calculations, tactical advice, and computer work. Cortana might be faster at it, But Samus has more.
but as is, Samus' onboard computer is better than Master chief, in sheer quantity of functions and applications
the only thing that would be better is if Cortana housed herself in Samus' power suit

Hell chief's shield generator gave out to plasma fire once in Halo: First strike, leaving him without a shield till it was repaired.
it's far from invulnerable to plasma far. much less so to Samus' plasma weapons. unlike the Covenant's less than half a megawatt yield energy weapons, Samus deals with a dishes out terawatt yield energy weapons.
Idk, can his armor handle swimming in lava with minimal to no damage? stronger, not really, she lived in a planet with higher gravity than that of the earth and she was enhanced by a race superior in technology than covenant and forerunners. the best his ai can say is "well youre fucked". the plasma he "deals with" can kill him rather quickly, and it is still inferior to the plasma found in the metroid universe.
@pkraccoon13 A covenant plasma rifle projectile can burn through your epidermis and some of your dermis in 1 shot. Keep in mind that it takes about 50 shots before the plasma rifle overheats. His armor is stronger because he can dive from orbit into a planet without a vehicle and walk off scratch free. A planet's atmosphere is about the same temp as lava plus the impact would probably shatter Samus's armor, which is why she has a thruster to prevent fall damage. Do your research before judging.
Unless the covenant weapons have multi terrawatts of power into them (1 terrawatt= 1,000,000,000,000 watts) then i don not beleive they are stronger than the stuff in the MEtroid universe. Keep in mind Metroid ammo tends to be unlimited. why dont you do research yourself? he was aided during reentry into the athmosphere while falling, 2kilometers from the gound did he then fall on his own. that and his armor locked up after impact. and pretty much he was k.o'd really.

Also, I must let you know that a spartan III (a spartan inferior to Spartan II's which Master Chief is a spartan II) fell from a covenant corvette onto the surface from Reach and walk off with minor wounds. So that must mean that a Spartan II (Master Chief in this case) could easily recover from the same damage. Not to mention, he has size advantage.

yes that happened to noble 6, however when master chief fell just from 2 km he was still knocked out for soemtime before his allies came to pick him up. bigger size makes him a bigger target for her multi terrawatt powered weaponry.
Ridley doesn't shred ships, but he smashes his way through several feet solid metal walls and ship hulls by his sheer force. if he uses his plasma breath to soften the metal, several meters (well, I'd assume there was more than just metal between the walls of the last example, but still).
it's quite possible given enough time & pending on, Ridley can bore enough holes into ships till the it is useless.
His armor was saved from atmosphere burn up because he grabbed a piece of the ship he jumped from.
which acted as both a heat shield and served to slow his fall, perhaps even a little impact.
and even then, the transition from his armor's appearance between 2 and 3 is apparent, he's picked up damage somewhere, and it wasn't there by the end of 2
Samus can hit walls at super sonic speed and not receive any damage, pending on game, even while she's in lava.

Yes they are both augmneted, but Samus augmentations make her part chozo and part human. that said she was raised in a planet that has a gravity 865 times that of the earth. someone did the math, you can check it out yourself by googling Samus's Strength and Zebe's Gravity.
the figures for zebes are physically impossible. ignoring the horrible things it would do to stuff like fluid dynamics (most atmospheric gasses turn liquid at those pressures), and the ground...
it would mean samus being able to jump several feat on zebes would translate to HUNDREDS OF FEET in earth conditions. such expectations do not match the reality of the games. it's really just bad reserach on teh creator's part.
Impossible or not, thats the what the developers gave us, they had a few times to fix it with updated versions of the games, they did not, therefore its technically canon.
Chief doesn't have a chance against Samus, and it's got nothing to do with him being less skilled or anything like that. simply armed or armored enough to handle her.

Samus has all her gear from Super Metroid in Other M (which is supposed to be the same stuff from metroids 1 and 2). and the game makes it out to be an innate. you don't find it she just has it. I suppose it was put into the game to emphasize the armor's strength depends on her mental strength (the armor disapears if she isn't focused, and reacts to her emotions) she only picks up too new items in other M, both of which are weapon upgrades.
Other M and Super metroid occur after Metroid prime.

@galestin super metriod was supposed to be the end of metriods but the remaining space pirates afterward took them to the space station in the begining of metriod prime and went to tallon IV on zebes and mass produced them resulting in the various ammounts of metriods. the metriod prime was a elite version of metriods that absorbed vast ammounts of concentrated red phazon.

The ships in the Metroid universe generate Jigawatts. We all know that 1.21 of these is enough to power a flux capacitor that can rip through the space time fabric.
The UNSC have some weapons more powerful that the Covanents. SMAC's were stated to be 9.98 TT a shot an no unshielded Covey ship can survive one. 9.98 TT is a huge amount of energy, about 1/10 of the energy of the Chicxulub impact and that annilated 70% of all life on Earth. The UNSC also used the Nuclear reactor of a Phoenix class destroyer to cause a miniture star to go Supernova which in turn destroyed a planet. Yeah the UNSC eaisly has a bigger stick but the Covey's have more sticks.
@videouser654 That method though only works on those who have armor of Phazite alloy. But the Nova beam actually functions similar to the Wave Beam which is one of Samus's strongest beams expecially combined with the Plasma Beam.
@videouser654 Well Hyper Mode makes Samus temporaily invunerable until the energy take used runs out which is in about 30 seconds, Samus's offensive capabilities go through the roof and her weapons are already Terawatt generators. Samus in Hyper Mode would lay waste to anyhting Halo has to offer.
Hyper mode is not quite invulnerble depending on how you use it.
sure you do not take any damage while in it. but wait too long or start using weapons and Samus is effectively shooting away her energy tank energy.
it's "invulnerable" if you use it soley to block an attack, and take no offensive actions for it's duration and manually shut it down before it goes into corrupt hyper mode..
I say the most realistic in such samus's suit would have to be cooled it the lava temperatures or she would burn other wise you have nothing useful to do with it in lava and the time period

Samus blew up 2 planets, 1 alternate dimension, wiped out 3 species (Metroid, Ing, X Parasites), and destroyed 2 space stations.
Samus also trained since age 3 on a planet with GREATER Gravity than earth. She can run at Mach 5 speeds (with the speed booster) and jump 30ft in the air.
Master Chief has no chance against Samus. She would probably solo him and the entire UNSC.

Hmmmmm as a Metroid fan i would vote for Samus. However i have analysed both characters and i honestly think the fight can go either way. In the end however, neither will "pwn" each other, even the winner will leave severly wounded. Point is, it wont be easy for either of them.
I thought master chief was a genetically created super soldier trained from age six and commited genocide, destroyed two huge ass rings and, all at the same time he was always under fire from some covinent super army. and yet some people are saying some bounty hunter that has a litle ship and goes around with all her special gagets ARRESTING people is better. all master chief had was an assault rifle and his hot A.I.
@boboben2131 he will just use the gun as a melee weapon. even today soldiers are trained in advanced hand to hand combat. plus what happens when samus gets shot? sure her armor is rediculously strong but against a gun made to withstand any enviornment even space, uses armor piercing, de-materializing bullets built for the sole purpose of shooting shit bigger than humans?
So his gun is going to do what a punch thrown by a mech that can throw a 136 ton ship can't?
Frankly I don't buy it.
his bullets won't matter much, the shield around her armor will take minimal damage against them, just like how they suck against shields within their own game.
and otherwise, using the gun as a melee weapon? if Samus is using her screw attack, it doesn't matter if it was the energy sword, she won't get hurt by it (the gun would be destroyed, the sword deflected)
Her gravity suit would render a weapon like the gravity hammer no better than a raw gun, a screw attack would destroy it, and it's not like her armor couldn't take it even if the gravity suit didn't take effect, as her armor survived forces that tear holes into the sides of star ship plating the size of two warthogs.
Power bombs alone are enough to make even medium range combat iffy to attempt without getting murdered, having dozens of times the range and power of his grenades.
yeah samus is powerful and all but i mean has she fought a million purple aliens? maby or has she blown up a bunch of ship? or went to massive galexy killing ring? or saved earth? but watever id say there about equal

Impossible to prove.
We know a lot about the forerunner, as the games and books are stuffed with goodies left behind, however in metroid the only piece of Utopian age Chozo technology found is certain upgrades found in Samus' armor, as most of the suit contains declining age Chozo technology.
for all we know, yeah the Chozo were as good as the forerunner in their prime, or even possibly as good as the Precursors, for all we know there were not.

Halo Didn't copy anything other than than the generic "Space soldier vs aliens that threaten humans" bit that wasn't original to metroid. and while a lot of story elements are held within both stories are similar albeit different in roles for most cases. the Original Halo, which came before metroid prime, was NOTHING like Metroid, Return of Samus, or Super Metroid.

Listen, I don't doubt the Chozo could very well have been as good or even better than the Forerunner. the potential is there, but it is not expressed in enough ways to actually prove it. only hint towards it.
it may prove harder still seeing as the next few Halo games are even more revolved around the Forerunner and possibly the Precusors, while Metroid games have started leaving them out the Chozo more often.

@GTA4fanatic118 Metroid fusion and Prime came out almost a year after Halo Combat Evolved. A three games were probably in development around the same time. The manga that gave us the information that the Chozo were fighting the X came out in 2004 when Zero Mission was released. Bungie didn't copy the X or the Chozo. Hell it's more likely Nintendo copied Bungie given how similar the Chozo/X story is to the Forerunner/Flood.

Alright, I'm already aware of all of this, but here's the thing.
you've not actually said anything to prove the Chozo's technological ability.
The issue is there's absolutely nothing to compare Chozo technology to Forerunner technology. we've got the power suit, and that's about it. the power suit isn't enough to compare, especially since we've not seen a Forerunner combat skin to compare it too. Even the Didact's armor, supposedly the lv 18 armor, was only vaguely talked about in Cryptum.

Oh, I won't doubt metroids are more powerful, doesn't make them more dangerous but definately more powerful, issue with the flood is that it grows intelligence. Metroid's degree of intelligence is very primative, but Flood become as smart as their prey, much like the X parasite does, but the Flood creates the Gravemind to be a centralized embodiment. it's the flood's intelligence and their ability to plan, and to gather more that make them more of a threat than Metroids.

they tried to augment themselves in the same means the Chozo did Samus (which was stopped), and didn't seem to be using much new things even after they succeeded in invading Zebes. and only later did they make field copies of Chozo beam weapons and failed at the armor and morphball. they copied at best the declining age technology, and seemingly not all that much.

when the Forerunner's encounter the Flood, they were already rampant in the galaxy. the Chozo on the other hand found the X on an isolated planet that on it's own the X could not leave. And the Chozo were granted the ability and time to develope a quiet means to take care of the X.

As opposed to trying to compare two different universes with a lot of separate mechanics and stories behind them lets look at the practicality and realism of it all.
-Genetically engineered super humans in heavy mechanized armor powered by a mini nuclear reactor is far more realistic than well whatever Samus' suite runs on and how i works. the flood are NOT as capable or powerful as the X Parasite Samus faced in Metroid Fusion.
the X are capable of pretty well everything the flood are, except they multiply faster, do not need hosts to increase their ranks (flood only do that in desperation), and are NOT killiable by weapons short of total atomic destruction (or metroids, but not something Chief can replicate).

the X parasites were rather young, and hadn't had the same amount of time (like, thousands of years) feasting on intelligent forms as the Flood.

Inferior armor system: Samus' armor is much better tailored combat and deals with high level forms of attack than the Mjolnir mk VI can handle with an over-shield and possible a Kig-yar shield gauntlet all tacked onto his armor.
and even with cortana, Samus has better detection and scan gear. Cortana may be thorough, but Samus' can get even smaller details that Cortana WISHES were in the chief's armor

Samus can scan for Weaknesses too, even so far down the line to microscopic level or even genetic weaknesses in DNA, as well as the type of data cortana can provide, which includes near instant calculations, tactical advice, and computer work. Cortana might be faster at it, But Samus has more.
but as is, Samus' onboard computer is better than Master chief, in sheer quantity of functions and applications
the only thing that would be better is if Cortana housed herself in Samus' power suit

They've lost spartans to plasma fire.
Hell chief's shield generator gave out to plasma fire once in Halo: First strike, leaving him without a shield till it was repaired.
it's far from invulnerable to plasma far. much less so to Samus' plasma weapons. unlike the Covenant's less than half a megawatt yield energy weapons, Samus deals with a dishes out terawatt yield energy weapons.

@pkraccoon13 A covenant plasma rifle projectile can burn through your epidermis and some of your dermis in 1 shot. Keep in mind that it takes about 50 shots before the plasma rifle overheats. His armor is stronger because he can dive from orbit into a planet without a vehicle and walk off scratch free. A planet's atmosphere is about the same temp as lava plus the impact would probably shatter Samus's armor, which is why she has a thruster to prevent fall damage. Do your research before judging.

Unless the covenant weapons have multi terrawatts of power into them (1 terrawatt= 1,000,000,000,000 watts) then i don not beleive they are stronger than the stuff in the MEtroid universe. Keep in mind Metroid ammo tends to be unlimited. why dont you do research yourself? he was aided during reentry into the athmosphere while falling, 2kilometers from the gound did he then fall on his own. that and his armor locked up after impact. and pretty much he was k.o'd really.

Also, I must let you know that a spartan III (a spartan inferior to Spartan II's which Master Chief is a spartan II) fell from a covenant corvette onto the surface from Reach and walk off with minor wounds. So that must mean that a Spartan II (Master Chief in this case) could easily recover from the same damage. Not to mention, he has size advantage.

Ridley doesn't shred ships, but he smashes his way through several feet solid metal walls and ship hulls by his sheer force. if he uses his plasma breath to soften the metal, several meters (well, I'd assume there was more than just metal between the walls of the last example, but still).
it's quite possible given enough time & pending on, Ridley can bore enough holes into ships till the it is useless.

His armor was saved from atmosphere burn up because he grabbed a piece of the ship he jumped from.
which acted as both a heat shield and served to slow his fall, perhaps even a little impact.
and even then, the transition from his armor's appearance between 2 and 3 is apparent, he's picked up damage somewhere, and it wasn't there by the end of 2
Samus can hit walls at super sonic speed and not receive any damage, pending on game, even while she's in lava.

it would mean samus being able to jump several feat on zebes would translate to HUNDREDS OF FEET in earth conditions. such expectations do not match the reality of the games. it's really just bad reserach on teh creator's part.

Samus has all her gear from Super Metroid in Other M (which is supposed to be the same stuff from metroids 1 and 2). and the game makes it out to be an innate. you don't find it she just has it. I suppose it was put into the game to emphasize the armor's strength depends on her mental strength (the armor disapears if she isn't focused, and reacts to her emotions) she only picks up too new items in other M, both of which are weapon upgrades.
Other M and Super metroid occur after Metroid prime.

@galestin super metriod was supposed to be the end of metriods but the remaining space pirates afterward took them to the space station in the begining of metriod prime and went to tallon IV on zebes and mass produced them resulting in the various ammounts of metriods. the metriod prime was a elite version of metriods that absorbed vast ammounts of concentrated red phazon.

Her weapons are to strong for halo power armor she's a walking arsenal and only needs ammo for missles her suit has life support and can analyze weak spots. her armor doesnt recharge but it can carry over 10 energy tanks. The UNSC have some weapons more powerful that the Covanents. SMAC's were stated to be 9.98 TT a shot an no unshielded Covey ship can survive one. 9.98 TT is a huge amount of energy, about 1/10 of the energy of the Chicxulub impact and that annilated 70% of all life on Earth. The UNSC also used the Nuclear reactor of a Phoenix class destroyer to cause a miniture star to go Supernova which in turn destroyed a planet. Yeah the UNSC eaisly has a bigger stick but the Covey's have more sticks.

@videouser654 Well Hyper Mode makes Samus temporaily invunerable until the energy take used runs out which is in about 30 seconds, Samus's offensive capabilities go through the roof and her weapons are already Terawatt generators. Samus in Hyper Mode would lay waste to anyhting Halo has to offer.

Hyper mode is not quite invulnerble depending on how you use it.
sure you do not take any damage while in it. but wait too long or start using weapons and Samus is effectively shooting away her energy tank energy.
it's "invulnerable" if you use it soley to block an attack, and take no offensive actions for it's duration and manually shut it down before it goes into corrupt hyper mode..

Samus blew up 2 planets, 1 alternate dimension, wiped out 3 species (Metroid, Ing, X Parasites), and destroyed 2 space stations.
Samus also trained since age 3 on a planet with GREATER Gravity than earth. She can run at Mach 5 speeds (with the speed booster) and jump 30ft in the air.
Master Chief has no chance against Samus. She would probably solo him and the entire UNSC.

Hmmmmm as a Metroid fan i would vote for Samus. However i have analysed both characters and i honestly think the fight can go either way. In the end however, neither will "pwn" each other, even the winner will leave severly wounded. Point is, it wont be easy for either of them.

Frankly I don't buy it.
his bullets won't matter much, the shield around her armor will take minimal damage against them, just like how they suck against shields within their own game.
and otherwise, using the gun as a melee weapon? if Samus is using her screw attack, it doesn't matter if it was the energy sword, she won't get hurt by it (the gun would be destroyed, the sword deflected)

Her gravity suit would render a weapon like the gravity hammer no better than a raw gun, a screw attack would destroy it, and it's not like her armor couldn't take it even if the gravity suit didn't take effect, as her armor survived forces that tear holes into the sides of star ship plating the size of two warthogs.
Power bombs alone are enough to make even medium range combat iffy to attempt without getting murdered, having dozens of times the range and power of his grenades.
