most likely fake nails. alot of fingerpickers prefer to have longer nails on their picking hands. I do it too... but... this guy's nails do look pretty fucked.

Nah can be real too.... Many flamencoplayers develop a very long and thick nail to play during training... I've heard in some documentary that Paco Peña used glue on his thumbnail to make it last, as it is used frequently and is under great servitude. As for my opinion, fingerpicking like that could be done with a bit shorter nails too, but everyone has a taste of his/her own :)
