  • "No one wanted a buggy game" cause they were fucking assholes. What? They were!

  • Over 2 years? So what? I know about games that took longer to produce and gamers didn't fucking bitch about the game,it's the gamers fault, they rushed them, and that's what you get.

  • When I found that Telltale Games were releasing a new official Jurassic Park game that also seemed to be bad (not in the Trespasser way but in the actual one), I lost all hope of ever getting to see a game that would live up to this great franchise... Looks like only a great community could do this job.

  • Sad what happenned to the game. Though it's nice to see that the game's more popula today than it was 14 years ago. That means something. Only 50,000 copies sold, and yet this video has ~48,000.

  • Love this Lets play, though it brings back harsh memories. The last time I watched it, there was a lot of trouble going on in the family :(. However I think I'll put that behind me and enjoy this entertaining and informative playthrough of one of the most intriguing and ambitious games I've ever come across. I just wish some company would pick it up and give it another try. The games main short comings were the technology of the time and a lack of polish.

  • For all of its flaws, I really have to applaud the use of a physics engine, in an FPS. Shame it is so unpolished, because I am sure the game had a lot of potential. Also Great lets play! You have a great voice for narration!

  • Trespasser was meant to be the Crysis game of the 90's,

Dam if only the developers back then where given more time to complete this game.

  • @Stridus7 I think ALL developers deserve time to complete their game, I mean, look at Duke Nukem Forever, sure, its considered a horrible game by many, but it had ALL the time in the world. Maybe they rushed it, maybe it was hardly worked on. I think, because Trespasser was so close to being finished, and surely many of the frustrating bugs could of been patched. Trespasser would be a LOT more legendary, than how it is now.

  • I actually liked this Let's Play, dunno why but they usually bore me unless the game piques my interest but not enough to play it (Or it is notoriously bad to play) or the announcer is entertaining enough. I think you hit a mix of both, your strangely soothing voice was unique for a lets play and the dryness made certain funny comments funnier. "Looks like my gun went to heaven" was my favourite. Thanks for sharing this interesting, but sadly failed, experiment. =)

  • In addition to Pine Valley, there's actually two other levels that were cut: Plains and Plantation House. Plantation House was merged with Jungle Road and Plans was merged with Ingen Town. Ingen town would have ended right at the Town gates if the Plains level wasn't merged with it. Plantation House was supposed to have the trashed Hunter's Camp from the Lost World in addition to the house that got put in Jungle Road.

  • @glitchhunter09 Cathy's beach was also originally meant for the Plantation House level and would have been a bit bigger.

  • my bad its working now the pc i was on didnt have adobe. I'm really enjoying your lets play.

  • hey man can you repost the lets play the site in the info bar dosnt have them anymore.....

  • Why didn't they choose you as the narrator for Bastion?

  • i just hate how they released pre-rendered "screenshots" and tried passing them off as gameplay, it was a common practice at the time (C&C3 even had them on the back of the box) but its still an asshole thing to do.

  • @2ane These days they call it "Bullshot"

  • why do i feel king of sad for this? :.(

  • i bought it. i loved it :)

  • Bardzo interaktywny tytuł. Pod tym względem innowacyjna. Dzisiaj próżno szukać takich gier.

  • Dziwię się że nie powstał jeszcze nowy Trespasser, na Diunie albo Cry engine. Ta gra zdeklasowała by wszystko wokoło. To była kiedyś moja najlepsza gra. Cechowały ją elementy przygodówki, strzelanki, thrillera, horroru i to w dodatku z perspektywy oczu. Może w przyszłości powstanie ta gra. Miejmy nadzieję że długo nie poczekamy. Pozdrawiam miłośników tej wspaniałej gry.

  • Your voice is just about the only one that the transcriber picks up almost perfectly. Bravo!

  • Developers wrote about problems during making of Tresspasser on Gamasutra goo.gl / O9kP8 . Check it out. :)

  • your voice is Ambrosia to my ears sir. Its really a shame about trespasser; almost like sonic X-treme: so ambitious in a time when gaming was still in its relative infancy. Midway into your LP of this game, quite late i know but better late than never

  • That was so freaky, i watched the Retsuprae video and somehow Trespasser popped up in my head. After five minute i find this video and and full let's play. SO AWESOME! :D

  • where is the Lets play JPT video btw?

  • i get chills whenever i watch this. just because it sounds so much like my dreams. i wanna make a game with this much potential someday. and it kinda makes me sad because this game would have been the best game ever at the time. but it failed horribly to some. I played the game and i really liked it. if they had made more dinos to fight and gave a bit more ammo at points then it would have been my favorite for a time.

  • it was doomed to suck movie based games always suck

  • I have to ask, are you going to make more of this similar stuff.

Many games have interesting stories behind them, you just mentioned Dai Katana.

I'd be interested in hearing more.

  • Complements the books so well, and still makes me jump at times.

  • im sorry but must disagree with the mags. i have recently gotten this game and i just love it. i got JP branded on my brain man. and this game is by far the best ive seen for its time. i have found at most only a couple glitches that causes me to either die or restart. ( pinned to the ground, fall through floor. . .) but i find it to be very enjoyable and challenging at the same time. i am sad to hear half-life stole its thunder ( i love HL) anyway i just think this game was underrated is all.

  • Does anybody know the music that plays after the first minute or so?

  • @Reaper212323 Sounds like something from Cowboy Bebop to me... Research indicates, we must know!

  • such a good game but so upsetting that this game just wasnt completed. Now honestly i am NOT a big Wii fan but if they remade it. i can actually see this being on the wii or possibly even Kinect. but they DO need to remake this game. its not too often that you actually get a good game with a good storyline thats not all aobut 9 year olds bitching into the microphone over how they just got killed by another player.

  • Developer manager. If it were not for these two managers, and the rush to make the release of The Lost World on VHS, this game more than likely would have been released much more finished. The game wasn't even originally hardware accelerated. 3D hardware acceleration was being put into other games, so they had to put it in to remain competitive, and it was buggy. The dinosaurs could not be run in hardware acceleration. To this day, the main programmer and manager will not talk about the game.

  • them to change something, drop entire areas, and make up new things and places for them to implement. If I remember correctly this guy finally left, and the new guy coming in was even worse. Neither of them were even a programmer, they were managers from Dreamworks to oversee the project. They gave the team and the developer manager so much hell, they tried to keep them from coming by as infrequently as possible. They were forced to release the game in a "early beta" state, according to the

  • There was a story about the development presented by one of the developers. The publisher (Dreamworks) had someone riding the developer's ass. They were trying to work on the game, but the manager put in charge of overseeing the game from the publisher didn't know anything about games. He constantly pushed and rushed the team, and set impossible goals for them ("fix all bugs by Friday" was one of them.) and they were rushed to meet the VHS release of The Lost World. He would come in, tell them

  • Thumbs up if you think they should remake this game.

  • If only they did a 3D Worlds-type thing and delay the development until it was actually finished.

Then it might be pretty much perfect, instead of just falling short as it did...

    They need to remake this.

Also, we need more dinosaur games.

  • @Mafia200100 YES so true.

  • I have to say, this is probably one of the best "Lets Play" videos I have seen on the net, I really love how you connect the game to not only the movies but the books too, it was great how you showed parts of the movies, let the viewer listen to the narration, and even show the viewer some extras. I also liked what you said at the end, yeah it's a bad game but it also inspired Valve, It's such a shame to see this game rushed because the back story is better than the movie sequels.

  • BTW, I've watched your Let's Play and it's very good.

It's informative, you've got some nice wit and strong source of references, good editing to keep things interesting with the occasional freeze-frame which I really liked.

It's good stuff. Are you doing any other, fex, Daikatana? I love to hear about development history myself. Studying to be a game designer. Can learn just as much from something that turned out wrong as something that turned out right. ;)

  • One innovation this game holds alone. Your arm and how it reacts to the world.

In any other game, your gun arm is just a layer, it does not communicate or bump into the world at all.

When you're holding a shotgun Bruce Campbell-style it gets pretty intense when the raptor *Gasp* bumps into your gun.

Red Orchestra had similar controls for aming, except way better than Trespasser. A realistic feel. Red Orchestra 2 will have your bumping against the world. Little detail, much realism.

  • dude I love Trespasser! It used to be my child game.

  • @ResearchIndicates i have had trespasser for about a year and half and i thank you sir you made me buy it when i watched the walkthrough videos you had on the other website

  • thank you so much for the video. i watched the whole lp video and just enjoyed it. you did a great job and your voice is pretty cool ;)

  • Superb let's play, if not the very best I've seen. Such a pity the game was such a flop, but I still loved it and have played it through at least a dozen times. Certainly a huge milestone in game engine development even if it did end up being too ambitious.

  • still play this game, one of my favorites

  • yeah ive played through it like 3 times, I love it, sure its a little buggy but that just made it more original

  • TresCom is still up, what's @TheRoboticFerret talking about? it's been a year, but it's still not closed. Fuck yeah, Trespasser is the best game ever made. Fuck the critics, the games storyline is good, the idea for the game is good, just waiting for a remake.

  • I want to get this game for Christmas. Yes, it's buggy. Yes, it's not the best. I DON'T CARE!

  • @Pumpernickel006900 Buddy I said critics called it the worst game ever. I wouldn't have made the Let's Play if I didn't love Trespasser.

  • @ResearchIndicates oh i need to refresh my english, i didnt say anything

  • @ResearchIndicates I just bought it today on ebay. is their a way to download the new created content by fans on it.

  • @ResearchIndicates Word. Trespasser's fun and worth buying if you find it under 10 bucks or just want it REALLY BADLY. I ended up with my copy almost by accident. tbh. My mother found it a couple of years ago for like 50 cents at a yard sale. Probably one of the best bargains you'll ever hear some one get for trespasser unless they get it for free.

  • @Pumpernickel006900 I think you missed the point a little :)

  • @jjrudki lol, so ? Whats so bad about being a retard ? Life is better with the child in heart. Can u bench 360 lbs ? See ? If u said that to my face u would be mash potato now :D Like most retards my insecurity leads to a so called aggression drive.. all those sickos out there function just like me just in case u insult everyone goodbye

  • @Pumpernickel006900 Making a fool of yourself. The guy didn't even call it the worst game ever, he said critics called it the worst game ever. That's why I called you a retard. Don't comment if you can't even comprehend that you were wrong. Showing off about being able to "Bench 360 lbs" on the internet makes you more of a retard in my eyes, as it's probably a lie.

  • @jjrudki well i already admitted that i am a retard. What s the deal ? But yes i can still bench that much and didnt even take steroids. but as we all can see being able to bench a lot doesnt save ppl from being retarded :D I can live with that. all im saying is that u cant call a real sicko a sicko because he is a sicko. Simple as that. In Berlin u can get stabbed for one word easily. I insulted the uploader too but im subject to my agression drive :D

  • @Pumpernickel006900 Tone it down then, you could avoid future insults by actually making constructive replies and not telling the uploader to fuck off.

  • @jjrudki ok ill try

  • Somebody needs to make a mod for Fallout NV - Dinosaurs :D

  • This game was about to be the number one game, but it was too long. Only if it had gone better, this game would've been one of the best games ever. Luckily patches are going out, and levels are being made. Hopefully it'll be remade. I've beat this game, and it was awesome, but I just wish it was better.

  • i know the game had a lot of bugs, and sometimes crashed, but at the time i played this game, i have NEVER felt more emerged in a game than this, its too bad it ended up like this, could easily have been a franchise.

  • Thumbs up if you think they should remake this game.

  • @MichaelVoz But physics of hand should be similar to Penumbra series.

  • @MichaelVoz I'm working on it, buddy. I'm working on it.

  • The BIGGEST problem with having Dreamworks make a remake of the game, is sadly the team is tored apart now. They aren't a team anymore.

But I also really want it, as they announced it!

  • this also has ver good pysics for its time

  • this actuall made me sad i think this games good dammit >:( people need to under stand that it was just to impossible at the time to make. halflife dosent even have pysics (and it was the 1st game i played and made me play games) this game is b far not the worst game and if it hade what they wanted it be amazing i think even if they made it now it be amazing even with all these new game s

  • Holy shit, i remember the previews they put up for this game in PCGamer and Computer Gaming World, and then the reviews pretty much vilifying it after it's release afterward.

A bit late, but i remember seeing the LP this year. Although i can see why it's a bad game (especially in such a time where you needed state of the art hardware to even run this at decent frames), It's such a fascinating and grand example of what could have been, but failed to live up to even a fraction of what it should.

  • Would it be okay if I linked this video directly from my website? I want to do a news article on Trespasser for my site and want to include this video as it's perfect.

    Loved your Lets Plays!

  • @Maniac536 Sure go crazy. It's also up on my vimeo account.

  • Why don't they remake this there hasn't been to many jp games in years.

  • What they released was still pretty good! Especially for its time. Recently, the original concept walkthrough was released it's a beautiful read, but the game designers' ideas were near impossible with 1997 technology. Today, however, a remake would be very successful. No question about it.

  • This game was very ahead of it's time, if only the creators had a little more time and money it could have been a smash hit. I played trough it several times and allthough it might have been buggy I had a great time doing so. Infact finding bugs and using them to my advantage became sort of a sport with this game ^^

  • the ending of the 90s was good.summer, rain clouds outside and you're playing Trespasser at your friend on his new high-end 500mhz PC...

God I want those times back!

  • I'm puzzled at those who call this "the worst game ever". I mean, yes, completion wise, but seriously, if this game is so bad you have dramatically OVERLOOKED the fantastic physics engine no other game had for the next 6 years. I think its physics and graphics engine saved it from being the most rushed game ever. It was saved heroically.

  • Thank you for making this video. I followed the development of trespasser for years. When it was finally released, I was so disappointed to find that almost none of the features I was so excited about were in the game, and on top of that, almost all of the screenshots and videos we had been shown were fake. Truly one of the most disappointing games I have ever played, especially so considering it's enormous potential.

I truly wish the dev team were able to realize their vision.

  • This game remains one of my fav games of ALL time. Someone remake this! Get the same team onboard and just do it right this time. Would be AWESOME. All these games today make me sick but what this had and could have had...my god. GIVE IT TO ME NOW!

  • If Valve took some ideas from Tresspasser then they should pay it back and HELP MAKE A F**KING REMAKE!!!!

  • make it for ps3

  • "youve pattened sell it on a plastic lunch box sell it hear sell it well" hahaha

  • Someone who sounds like a cowboy talking about videogames...

    hehehe...

  • Just what happened with half life 3 someone hacked into it and shows basiclly the whole game

  • i will remake this for the source engine. ohh no wait jurassic life team have already done somthing like it

  • yeah know... the game is really bad but i like it.

maybe because it has dinos in it.

  • sad story of what could of been an amazing game

  • half-life don't have physics...

  • @theplock99 You'll find it does. Ever killed somone in Half life? The body falls realisticly.

  • @123crazycat123 He means it doesnt move when you shoot or hit it. Nor can it roll on the floor. This results in bodies often lying with their heads through crates, walls, or other things. Not very realistic eh?

  • @theplock99

Half-Life 2 HAS Havok physics engine. It is more emulated than simulated, but still a great step in gaming. I love HL2 too. Bet yeah. Tres is the best.

  • @SylverRaptor I MEANT HALF LIFE 1

  • @theplock99

Then yes. HL doesn't have any physics system. Quake engine is a biiiiig mistake.

  • i agree with with sissy boy we need to spread work that they need to remake this game with todays tech and i bet it might get a 10 rating with the idea but im jes one man if we all get up and say sumthin bout it sum1 is bout to look our way and say ya know this group might be on to sumthin lets finish the dream the original creator couldnt do in ther time those who support me in this comment my page idk how to make the rememake possible but hey worth a try i

  • Seeing how this could have been actually makes me sad. Someone needs to redo this game with today's technology. Imagine this game in CryEngine 3. 0_0

  • It's just screaming for a remake...

  • cleared this game like 5 times, loved it!

  • Just look at the images from the demo at the beginning of the video. With today's technology this game would be scary. Someone needs the balls to remake it.

  • I loved this game as it was... It was allot of fun and the plot was great. I think it should be redone with the tech we have now.. This game would be outstanding

  • i just played the demo and found it very fun, i have now bought the full copy of the game

  • i bought the game used a couple years ago just to see how it was. it was still very interesting, even in the form it was released in. its amazing how much potential it had. i still think the images and ideas that made it into the game were good. the idea of walking around an abandoned dinosaur infested island. just imagine playing that coop online with xbox or ps3 with new technology.

  • This game still has the best physics engine, but its too much, If a remake was made... This could be the best game ever.

  • I got the beta,it runs a tong better than the release, they should of released the beta instead lmao

  • @1PlayerD ton* not tong lmao

  • You are amazing.

  • Im still playing this game now... on windows 7 64 bit lol :D one of the best games!

  • I played it for the first time back in 1998 or 1999.Believe me the physics engine is INSANE!!! There's no game, nothing to compare it too.The feeling that you are playing the game is uncomparable to anything.Wish some people would make a remake! Dreamworks(L)

  • If only someone had the balls to redo this game. Same plot and idea, just with new technology and with a much more larger budget I'm sure IF, not saying anyone will, but if someone remakes this game, I'm sure it'll be much more successful. Or someone will fuck it over and ruin it forever.

  • @Failcard As mentioned in the video, there's still a decent number of people doing things with the original release. It isn't too hard to think that, especially with game development technology progressing as far as it has now, a similar group of fans might piece together a decent remake. I know I'd play it.

  • I highly doubt they'd make one. Idc how many people are on trescon, I mean I LOVED this game it was really clever, but the thing is even if someone would make a remake to this game. Someone would of done it by now or have at least announced they will or are making one.

  • Maybe the its not that they don't want remake it but rather that this would be way to complicated especially with todays graphical demands in games, the problems they had with this engine were already to much for them to work out. That would be an even bigger problem now because there would be allot more in the game that had to be made interactive, no big game company can afford such a gamble with the current game market and the indies won't be able to get such a big project to work.

  • This is great; I figured out my ATX Patch problem with Trespasser. See, it wasn't generating an ATXConfig.ini file, so I looked around in the subfolders and found an .exe patcher. I ran it and patched the trespass_ATX.exe file. Next time I ran the game, viola! It made the file! Now I can enjoy unlimited draw distance, 3D Sound reverb, dinosaurs in buildings, and faster running speed! Woo-hoo! :)

  • Thank you, HelveticRaven, this is very true.

  • Reminds me of Crysis, there was so much riding on it. Crytek delivered. And despite the reviews then, I think Trespasser delivered also.

  • Lets not take a look, shall we?

  • if you pause the video at 2:18 then you can see that the t-rex bites the stegosaurus

  • One of my favourite games of all time

  • I absolutely loved this game. All it really asks of you is a little bit of dedication and involvement since controls were a bit tricky. But once you get the hang of it, it's bloody amazing. The problem wasn't the game, it was the brain-dead "boom! headshot!" gamers society that simply wasn't ready for a game of this type just yet. It was simply ahead of its time.

Damn... I think I'll install it again :D

  • damn that would have been the best game ever

  • *sighs* I ffound trespasser one day as i was scanning through dinosaur video games on youtube, it blew me away. when I got it in the mail, I had a hard time getting it to run, but when i did.... it was amazing. I quickly pulled aside a middle school friend, and we played to the half way point off the game for an entire day, no one else really appreciated it as much as me and my friend, but my brother really loved it too. An amazing game. I'd kinda like to see it for the wii and 360, mainly 360=)

  • I hear ya man. I played this game on a machine that had no business running it, but I loved every slideslow minute. yeah it was buggy and very cumbersome, but the ideas were brilliant, the tension real, and the physics groundbreaking.

  • This game deserves to be remade. It should be on 360, PS3, PC, you name it. Now with great physics engines like Eupohria, it is crazy just thinking about the possibilties.

I have an idea for a level.

Maybe in the new tresspasser (If there is ever going to be one) you have to quickly run away from raptors and t-rexes and turn on the power and all the fences turn on again, and to set the mood, it is at night and it is full on raining.

  • @DrakenGuardz Especially by Valve. Microsoft is revamping Halo: CE so why can't Valve do it?

  • @DrakenGuardz dont forget the Wii. Think about it, the aiming system is the biggest thing about the game. It only makes sense. Plus, the controls will fit just fine.

  • @RisingVictor Perfect!

  • @DrakenGuardz If i ever do become a game designer, THIS would be my first one. i mean ive had lots of ideas that were going to go first BUT THIS, THIS deserves a remake. and with the physics engines and graphics of the future (even today) it would become absolutely Awsome. your idea for the power thing is sick man. i find myself in this game or watching the movies and saying, "what if the power still worked? fences, lights, computers, turrets, doors, endless. . . ."

  • @goldenrod666 I'm currently working towards being an animator, so if you do become a game designer, send me a message and we'll see what we can do.

  • Trespasser and its development team remind me an awful lot of Charles Babbage and the Analytical Engine.

They were perfectionists. They blossomed with creativity and kept coming out with new, great ideas. They couldn't get those ideas perfected because of the business side of things.

Just like the Analytical Engine seemingly ended up as a waste, Trespasser ended up the same. Just like the analytical Engine was a cornerstone for computers, Trespasser is a cornerstone in physics-based gaming.

  • if anyone wants a trespasser walkthrough vist my petition on my profile

  • Think anyone would want to play an alpha build?

  • We thought it was the best game ever when we first played it. Can't remember any bugs that would hinder the gameplay experience. It was scary as hell and so cool. I was only 7-8 years old at that time though.

  • best game ever! not for everyone I must admit. lot's of dreams and hopes have gotten life inside my dino-freak head :-j in school (art-school) i got lots of A+'s by drawing pieces of art inspired from this game. my Architecture certificate was a Prehistoric Museum inspired from the ''visitors center' that appears in JP movie.I would certainly pay to play something like this. for me Trespasser wasn't just a game.. it was a portal to another world.. connected to my brain, juiced by imagination.

  • If only the devs had done the "Rare method" of not doing any interviews until the game they were working on was finished.

    Ah well, I love it.

  • Tresspasser deserves to be remade. First person survival horror and zoo building are the 2 video game genres which fit Jurassic Park like a glove, so I say bring on Operation Genesis 2 and a Tresspasser remake! By the way, I have a new plot for a Tresspasser remake bouncing around in my head from boredom, if any wants to know what it is just let me know (I would love to get it out of my head I just need a reason).

  • i wanna know what it is, send it to me in a message! :P

  • i wood like to here it

  • Your research and walkthroughs were just awesome. .If only they had more time. .oh well. . thanks. .still. .just love this game! ! !

  • One of my favorite games. Finished it 3 times. It was revolutionary at the time. Zombi like (or retard like) hand movement achieved one unexpected thing - ATMOSPHERE. Apart from AvP and DOOM 3 no game before or after had that spontaneous FEAR factor. I'm not talking scripted "wall body snatcher" from HL1, or freaky little girl from FEAR. Trespasser puts you on the OFFENSIVE from the start and makes you count the bullets in fear to the very end. Remake anyone?????

  • I love this game <3 too bad I cant run it on Vista :(

  • This is my favorite game in the world. I'm not even liening i would choose this over Gta IV or Saints row or Half Life 2!

  • Yay! TresCom is still up on the web! \o/

  • This game deserves so much better, if only the developers didn't overextended themselves with all that extra content.

If Trespasser will ever receive a remake they should focus on the gameplay, the idea of getting stuck on Site-B with the open world theme is brilliant on it's own.

Oh and keep Hammond's diary clips, that added so much to the atmosphere.

  • all i remember was

"the hair on her upper lip"

  • i feel bad for the game......i completed it for the first time like 5 years ago (back in 98 my CPU sucked...like all other) and i must say the game was great....i had a moment when a large object fell on small dinosaurs tail and he couldnt move!!!! he was just opening his ugly mouth ;DD

  • Comment removed

  • Quake 2 engine but iD software called all those engines the "Quake" engine and led to some confusion in the late 90's

  • Are you also the Narrator from the Dukes of Hazzard?

  • best FPS shooter concept EVER!

the arm is the best idea ever.

    played and compleated 16 times

  • the whole Trespasser concept was amazing and they did a pretty good job it was just poorly executed, but I love this game

  • I can't believe it. The TresCom site is closing soon... it seems that every time I start playing Trespasser again, something related to Trespasser happens that is sad. After 7 years, about 3 years of me following the site, it's just going to close like that? :'(

  • It's too bad, Trespasser just hasn't aged well. With any luck, someone will rebuild the game in a more powerful engine. There's a group trying to do just that in the Crysis engine and maybe another Jurassic Park game will come out someday

  • I hope so... and i dont think this game was so bad...

But i think now its better time for project like this...

  • @ResearchIndicates Good news guys, it's still there :D

  • @TheRoboticFerret Nope, the site is still going strong.

  • @jetblack4ever Yeah I noticed that several months ago.

  • I see no reason why they couldn't have released it later, if they wanted people to keep interest in Jurassic Park, they could've given them more time.

I just think it shouldn't have been released when the VHS(or when it came out in Theaters, I dunno when the game was released) came out, it was a digital sequel, but I think they could've waited another year or 2 to release it, since that would've been the last JP movie for about 3 years

  • True, but the head studio really pressed for it to go. After 2 years and going over-budget a few times, I guess they had enough.

But I agree, this could have been a much better game with just some more time.

  • I am so glad I played this as a kid. I remember it being buggy as hell, but I still enjoyed it. I love the backstory and lore of plenty of games and movies(Halo, Warhammer 40k, yadda yadda) and Jurassic Park is no exception. Besides, who can hate John Hammond?

  • Yeah the voice over was a relly clever thing I loved exploring the island listening to Hammond.

Screw the critics I loved this game

  • I agree fully, WARP10CK. This game was a very enjoyable experience, aside from the occasional "WTF?" type of crate puzzle failure. The game looks amazing with my graphics card, and I think this game deserves more praise than it does scorn.

  • This is a depressing story :(

I'm sure the Devs could still remake the game, and with today's technology, they could rebirth the game as it was supposed to be.

  • Awesome LP, Research. I watched the whole thing. Trespasser is just awesome, and I don't think it failed COMPLETELY, really. :)

  • I really liked it when I played it, and apart from the f****** crates it was quite good fun :) I love the scenery, you can stand on mountaintops and see for miles...

  • Acoustic echoes is what I meant.

  • ResearchIndicates, or anybody else, could somebody PLEASE tell me how ResearchIndicates got echoed footsteps in buildings and the industrial canyon in the third level? I need to know! :D

  • Am I the only one that thinks Trespasser's physics engine is WAY more revolutionary than Half-Life 2's?

Think about it. The only REALLY innovative thing in HL2 is throwing. In Trespasser, you can throw AND pick up objects with an arm.

By the way, I don't like it when people say that Trespasser's arm system is terrible. Once I got used to it, which took about 4 seconds, it just felt like an extension of my own right arm.

  • That's like saying Tennis For Two was more revolutionary than Far Cry because it was the first video game.

  • The development team's mistake was telling the public too many secrets about the game. Damn, dude, you have a depressed voice when you talk about Trespasser. I own several FPS games, but Trespasser is actually my favorite over King Kong, Halo, and Quake II, and others. Long live Trespasser, the game that could've been a god, but remained a king. :'(

  • remaking this game as they envisioned it now would not be impossible.

example: Crysis built on the Crytek engine which has some of the most intense graphics as well as a very interactive world even shooting trees into smaller pieces.

its a shame that things went down hill with this game this video makes it seem much more sad then i realized.

and in actually owning this game i have to say its actually quite fun and challenging when you get past the annoying puzzles its very survival oriented.

  • I feel sorry for the staff that made the game
