anyone who is under the impression they own a 77 or later corvette "stingray" is in for a rude awakening. chevy dropped the stingray designation after 76. its a nice corvette though.
"removed the badge that wasnt there" what world are you living in!?!? The true "stingrays" or "sting rays" had badges. Chevy dropped the designation because they dropped the big block the year before and the 350s power had been so far diminished because of emissions that they didnt want that name associated with the lower horsepower cars anymore. Anyone employed by Chevy that called it stingray after 76 did so at there own discretion. Read your history
@71monzagt6 HIGH HORSE POWER? NOT EVERYTHING! I have found people are more ignorant about these late 70s vettes than any other, in many ways these cars kicked ass in torque figures coupled with the right rear gear option are a lot of fun! and for your info an 78 or 79 vette would stomp a 308 Ferrari of the same year in the quarter mile. I can e-mail anyone the info who wants it.I believe it was in Road@track or car and driver magazine.

Actually Chevy just removed the stingray badge that wasnt on the car when it was first called a stingray. Chevy still called it a stingray in shop.
