I started with a different tutorial untill he started changing options i didnt have.
i went to LAC properties > advanced and selected allow sharing. the hand came up on my icon. when i right clicked on wireless connection i had none of the options that you or the other guy had.
now when i go back to LAC > advanced i dont even have the option to allow sharing and sharing is still enabled... dunno what else to do except go to sleep
I'm sure I won't be the only one grateful for a guide on setting up an Access Point on Windows Vista. There isn't much information around for it, and most people seem to be resorting to buying routers. Surely this isn’t the only option for Vista?
i like video can you help with security i want it to be unsecure (no wep or nething) but still want to block access to net unless they use a signup form (web based) for taking payments or a token key pass of sorts? any ideas how i can do this
Nice guide. My laptop card sadly doesn't have the AP option. It came to my attention that Windows 7 has a built in SoftAP solution. The following video is of a free program that makes it easy to set up: watch?v=jPgrAOuiWuk
It's also possible to set it up without the program, but that's not something for the general public to fiddle with. Maybe this be of help to someone, though it'll only work with Windows 7. VPN does not work. After setting it up, follow instructions in part 2 of this video.
I am trying to connect my PSP to the internet. I have vista and I have set up a Ad-hoc connection with a WEP password, but the PSP can't connect. Any ideas?
is this safe? >.> as in if i put in a WEP will anyone still be able to access it? im in college & take this laptop with mi everywhere...the last thing i need is someone getting access & screwing everything over =/
random question but wat happens if the built in wireless my laptop has suddenly disappears, i had an atheros wireless on it but now its just gone and i aint a clue where the heck i'm meant to find it again or if its even here anymore
It's pretty similar on Vista, just access your Control Panel and go to your Network configuration. Chances are most wireless cards won't support this - it's not an operating system function, it's your wireless card.
For vista, you best bet would be to buy Datel's WiFi Max For PSP/DS
k i have a problem and i need help and im not a techy gizmo dude so plz speak english to me my internet worked yesterday but today its connection problem check security settings and i have the right wpa key so i use this other acess point with no security at all and that wont work either and it pissing me of cuz i wanna play portable ops plus online please someone help
If in the advanced option of your wireless card you do not see device type (which is where you would change it to an Access Point) then your card does not have the function to do it.
With your car being an intel, I have high doubts that it does :(
For everyone asking for VISTA the steps are almost identical, but most wireless cards out now don't support this so you are left with buying the Datel Universal WiFi Max Wireless Access Point to connect your PSP to the internet...sorry
alright thats it you all are fuckers case i have xp vista and i have no wireless network connection on my computer and there is an error trying to get it
I have a laptop and I wanna know if I have a vid. card, so I researched on Windows Help, It appears there that there's a Display Setting so I clicked it and clicked Advanced Setting and I was wondering if the ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics (on the Adapter tab) if that is my vid. card *shrug* sorry for the stupid question oh and I also wanna know how do I turn on/use a video card T_T I'm not good w/ this comp. things so PLS HELP ME!
em...Yes you have a video card, it's the ATI Radeon HD3200. If you didn't have a video card you wouldn't be able to see anything. That's what your video card is for :)
Does anyone know how to bridge the other cards, like he mentioned during the last part of the video? I would like to try this but I'm only using a tethered bluetooth connection.
1. your Wifi supports AP (access Point) mode - if it doesn't you can't share a connection through it.
2. your Ethernet port isn't connected and is enabled.
If Yes on both questions, then what you could do is highlight both the Wifi and Ethernet network Icons and select bridge. Then follow the first part of the tutorial for sharing the Local Area Network - which you would replace with your Bluetooth adapter.
This is all Just theory, so I'm not sure if it will work. Good Luck.
Yeah, most wireless card manufacturers have to pay for licensing to use software that make the router function as an AP (or create their own if they wanted to). If your card doesn't have the "AP" mode then your best bet would be to buy the Datel's WiFi Max For PSP. It'll save you the headache of trying to do it with software. Goodluck.
It all depends on what your wireless adapter supports. If you follow the directions (slight;y diff way to access you networking settings in vista ) and you get to the configure your adapter part and don't see an operation mode then you can't do it (not a vista limitation, just a hardware).
i have a problem get to share my network, its like i went into local area n click advanced then i click in the frist box that said allow other network user to connect through this computer blah blah then i get an error sayin Internet connection sharin cannot be enabled.
A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing please con i get some help i would be glad for that
Seems like one of your network devices has been assigned the 192.168.0.1 address. It threw that error at you because windows tried to assign that IP to the device that you want to share your internet through (i.e connect another device to) and couldn't because it was already taken. Look at the TCP/IP setting of your devices (right click->properties) and make sure they are not set up to that address (i.e they should be getting their IP address dynamically).
hey man , i did that before and it worked for me , but after i formated my laptop, i wanted 2 do it..but i can't see da network throw my iphone or my ipod or any other laptop, plz reply,, and thx
As always, if your wireless card supports it, then yes. Or you could share your Ethernet port with your PS3 (if the port is close enough to your laptop/PC). To do that just look for tutorials on ICS (internet connection sharing).
My wireless card only has about half the settings urs does and none that will enable infrastructure mode. I'm using vista so there might just be another way... or again... i'm the unlucky 1 :P
If any1 knows anything pls let me know, i've been working at this for a looooong time
It may be that you wireless card doesn't support it. From what I've heard, manufacturers of the card that do pay a license fee to add that to their cards (I could be wrong about this). Your best bet would either be a wireless router or the Datel PSP WI-FI MAX
i have a laptop and a computer i have local area connecttion but i dont have network connection option on my compuer and my laptop my computer and my laptop is alway connected to the internet plz help thank and the video was very helpfull
yea my windows vista laptop is work. but need a download. go google search then type in download Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n then click second one
Simple explanation. It turns broadband internet into wireless internet for your psp!!! hook up the wi-fi max to your pc and then follow the instrcutions and create a ssid and stuff then scan connection on your psp and select your ssid and connect...
if you card does not support "Access Point" mode then you'd have to get a hardware wireless access point. I believe they have some that are USB (google: PSP DS wireless Access Point). I believe Datel is the company that makes it.
There has to be an Access Point for your PSP to connect to; my example show how to turn a wireless card to an Access Point, letting the PSP connect to the internet through an Ethernet connection on the same PC i.e wireless and LAN on the same PC
Yeah, Instead of sharing on your Ethernet connection, share your wireless connection. Right click on your wireless card (after it's connected to your router), Properties -> Advanced -> Internet Connection sharing. Your Ethernet card should now be the gateway and you can connect your xbox to it.
If in the advanced option of your wireless card you do not see device type (which is where you would change it to an Access Point) then your card does not have the function to do it. I have heard of software that will allow you to, but it would be better to get a wireless router.

Not this is not a software limitation, it's hardware. If you don't see the options for your netword card then you can't do it (XP or Vista).
To get to your Network connections on vista you can go two ways:
1. Type "Control Panel\Network Connections" in your address bar for MyComputer (w/o the ") and it will take you there.
2. The long way is:
Control panel->Network and Sharing Center ->Manage Network connection ( on the right)
The instructions are then the same from then on. Good luck.

Hey do you know how to set up wifi usb as access point for PSP?
jaesungauzakim 3 years ago
If your's does not have this ability (usually called "operation mode" or "Device type" in the hardware configure section). You have 3 options:
1. Buy Datel's WiFi Max For PSP, it will do the job for you.
2. Buy a wireless router, more expensive but it has more funtionality that the Wifi Max.
3. Get software that will do this for you, generally called "softAP" - EXTREMELY hard to come by.
If you are not one of the lucky one's, there are other options. Thanks for watching.

how do u do this with the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection card?

If in the advanced option of your wireless card you do not see device type (which is where you would change it to an Access Point) then your card does not have the function to do it. I have heard of software that will allow you to, but it would be better to get a wireless router.
