i cried my eyes out when we got the news of Barbaro on the radio. a couple years later i was blessed with a buckskin name sundance with very similar markings on his face. what a miracle. rip Barbaro.
I think that is awesome that you included Nikanor in your video! He will never be able to full Barbaros "shoes" but he will help patch the holes in our hearts! RIP Barbaro! Go LUCK nikanor!
I know you may not approve this, but sometimes it is better to go to a better place, then suffer terribly on Earth. I don't know if you have ever suffered an injury, but I have, and to tell you the truth sometimes I thought about suicide. It is only humane, because Barbaro cannot speak for himself. So if he was suffering, he was doing so quietly. Thank you.
Oh I absolutely agree that having him put down was the humane thing to do if he was suffering. I just wish he had been able to pull through! I had knee surgery last year and still haven't fully recovered, but I manage. It's not painful (most of the time), I just can't do the things I used to do. I hope you're doing better after your injury. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
No, he wasn't slaughtered, but after he died, his owners spoke out against horse slaughter and now his fans have come together to do whatever is possible to save as many horses as they can in honor of Barbaro, since brought attention to the issue. Many people don't even know about it. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you! I just saw the comment.
Here's slaughter: knocked unconscious by a stunner of some kind or a metal bolt, then while unconscious (or not if it didn't work), hung up by a leg upside down and throat cut. That's it -- if you would support the ocntinuation of horse slaughter then you are indeed one of the devil's own.
Thank you SO much....more attention should be paid to horse slaughter...this horrendous practice MUST be stopped. Its been a year and I miss him just as much now as the day he left us. We'll keep fighting....
RIP barbaro we all luv u! and i am glad bought the slaughter house bein rejected, many horses will be saved and does any one know wen nicanor will start racing?
I'm just guessing, but Nic should be ready to start his racing career as a 2 year old around September or October. I'm just speculating because Barbaro's first race as a 2yo was on October and he was born in April and Nic was born in March, so they should be on about the same schedule. I guess it all depends on Nicanor and how well he's progressing. I hear he's grown into a good lookin' horse with a nice conformation. Not as leggy as Barbaro was at this age though.
I agree with your comment. Nic should be running on grass and soon make the transition to dirt. Barbaro was too leggy and had that bad step that was his undoing, just like Ruffian. We are waiting in hope . . .
