Hey Scott, its been over a year since you gave me the advise on the Cintiq, and I have to say its been one of the best investments I have ever made. I can sculpt twice as fast so my skill progression has sped up. I also bought your book on anatomy last Christmas and it has helped me progress heaps in the past year.
So thanks so much for your advise and and your book was completely worth buying!
The one thing I wasn't sure of was how the texturing was done on the horns. You lay in a dark color over the hole surface, then subtract from the raised segments, kind of a digital version of a dark wash pass. Were you using a brush that ignores the deep areas and only effects the raised?
@Jcolinsol Im using Tool>Masking>Mask by cavity to mask out the high or low areas. There is also cavity masking under the brush menu but I prefer the tool menu version since it shows the mask itself.
@Idiotforstander Thanks! :) I hope you like the book, there is a narrated version of this video included. FYI I have a second edition coming out in a few months as well.
Wow, I didn't realize you were the dude who created this famous model! Your work is awesome. It inspired me when I started 3 years ago. I have a question though, would you recommended buying a Cintiq LCD tablet for digital sculpting? I'm 16 and am going to uni in a year to study 3d modeling and animation.
@u3190 Thanks for the kind words!! A Cintiq LCD is a great tool for digital sculpting as well as painting. I have seen it have a delay when painting in Photoshop or Painter but in ZBrush it has been really useful. You can do great work without it though so don;t feel like its required to be a good digital sculptor.
can u make a brief tutorial on importing object from lightwave and sculpting/animating it..
