  • It would be nice to see this on TV again. Steptoe is on, but I think Sykes is funnier. Unfortunately, according to his autobiography Eric was a bit of a maverick and always at loggerheads with someone or other, particulalry at the BBC, so perhaps someone thinks it might be too much bother.

  • @SeriallySpeaking It is on every morning on GOLD at 6 and 8am

  • No problem at all. Any time you need to check the Archival status of anything, give me a shout.

Have only recently set up my u-tube account, so haven't uploaded anything yet (still got to work that out...lol.).

  • Thank you for the info.

  • Unfortunately nothing Exists from Sykes Series 1. The earliest surviving episode is Sr:2 Ep:3:Sykes and a Holiday. Only 3 others exist from the next two series. Series 5 survives in full.T

Then only 11 other episodes from the remaining 4 series. Sykes Survives complete from the first colour series (Sr:9) onwards - 1972 to 1979.

Only one episode exists from the off-shoot series 'Sykes and a Big Big Show' in 1971.

    Hope that helps.

  • "Sykes and a New Car" was transmitted 12 February 1960 as part of the first series of 'Sykes and a . . .' . It doesn't seem to be on DVD at present (August 2011).

  • I am looking for the episode "Sykes and a car" as I once owned the Amrican car that Sykes bought.

  • brillient great

  • Thanks
