It would be nice to see this on TV again. Steptoe is on, but I think Sykes is funnier. Unfortunately, according to his autobiography Eric was a bit of a maverick and always at loggerheads with someone or other, particulalry at the BBC, so perhaps someone thinks it might be too much bother.
Unfortunately nothing Exists from Sykes Series 1. The earliest surviving episode is Sr:2 Ep:3:Sykes and a Holiday. Only 3 others exist from the next two series. Series 5 survives in full.T
Then only 11 other episodes from the remaining 4 series. Sykes Survives complete from the first colour series (Sr:9) onwards - 1972 to 1979.
Only one episode exists from the off-shoot series 'Sykes and a Big Big Show' in 1971.
"Sykes and a New Car" was transmitted 12 February 1960 as part of the first series of 'Sykes and a . . .' . It doesn't seem to be on DVD at present (August 2011).

No problem at all. Any time you need to check the Archival status of anything, give me a shout.
Have only recently set up my u-tube account, so haven't uploaded anything yet (still got to work that out...lol.).

I am looking for the episode "Sykes and a car" as I once owned the Amrican car that Sykes bought.
