Paul was always out of step with the other Beatles,he's the only one with a black rose here,on let it be his pictures the only one in red,on Abbey road he's marching out of step etc LOL
This movie was shot in 1967. Most of us in The Colonies could not see it, as it was considered to be "in poor taste". That seems ludicrous now, but it was not thought so in 1967, even though that wonderful year was also thought of as the year that the establishment began to give way. This is a paradox that still is misunderstood.
this movie could have been beter but it was as good as the first two which were HELP and Hard Days Night. But I hate Let It Be movie but i like the song
It's funny how terrible this movie did (it really needed to be shown in color!), however it's now adored! It's one of my favorites...very ahead of it's time.
The whle point of the Magical Mystery is its not supposed ot make sense or have meaning cuz too may people tried to interpret every Beatles song and give it meaning when it was jsut music.. so Lennon started it with I am the Walrus- he wrote it cuz his old English teacher made students interpret John's songs so he made it not make sense
I think by midway-through this song, Paul, John, George and Ringo had given up any real seriousness...not that this movie had any in the first place. You can kind of tell when Paul's dancing all out of choreography that he had given up. XD
He, he, he ... yeah, it's really, really "naff" and low-budget ... but great fun to watch and "listen" to ... it's The Beatles after all :-))
PS: Talking of low-budget. I heard a rumour that the wages-bill for the cast and crew was ... a truck load of fish and chips and 22 crates of Guinness...
...and 100 gallons of diesel for the bus ... doesn't seem like much, but maybe that was a lot back in the 60s ... LOL
this part is adorable. Your Mother Should Know is one of my favorite songs the Beatles are my favorite band everrr<3 their movies are hilarious i love 'A Hard Days Night' 'Help!' anddddd 'Magical Mystery Tour' in that order. the Beatles are amazing nufff said :)
paul died after 1985's "spies like us" video.dan ackroyd has secret journals of it.the reason for the forebearing black rose he is wearing on his lapel! this movie has the greatest soundtrack ever except "xanadu" by olivia -newton john and elo!

Guess you could say your friend had a Magical Mystery "Trip" then ... *wink* :-))
I hated this movie when I first saw it. I was expecting another Hard Day's Night or another Help!
But now I totally love it. Just so madcap and so typically British too. I remember as a kid (back in the 60s) going on MMTs with my parents and kid brother ... those days out were just like this.
Well, except for the stripper. Oh, and the Beatles were never on my bus. Drat :-))
Personally, I wish that they had been able to do Hard Day's Night in color rather than this. I kinda liked the other two movies better, (sorry Beatles)
Well, I've watched all the parts of this movie now, and all I can say is : AWESOME!!! But, hey, thats just my opinion. I consider anything with the Beatles in it awesome. Thank you to Danousek9 for taking the time to post the whole movie on Youtube.
God this movie was weird but, it was good! now i know why famous directors were inspierd by this movie! Though, i think kids craped their pants at the I Am The Walrus part. And Paul is NOT dead!
The fact that this movie doesn't have a cohesive plot...doesn't matter to me in even the slightest iota, because he Beatles and their friends obviously were having a blast making Magical Mystery Tour.
What a great film. A wonderful phenomenal movie, My personal favourite movie of theirs is still A Hard Day's Night and then probably Help! but AHDN is still the best.

ran out of red carnations? Yeah im really sure that they would go to all the trouble to make a movie, and just happen to "run out" in the final scene of the movie. And if they ran out that would mean they had extra black ones? what were the rest of the black ones used for?
I read it in a book. That's what Paul said - I'm just quoting him. Despite the Beatles wealth, they made their films on fairly low budgets. It might have been the local florist who had run out of red ones, I'm not sure.
The documentary The Compleat Beatles (narrated by Malcolm McDowell) gave this description: "Largely a project of Paul's, the idea was to travel the English countryside in a bus filled with friends, actors and circus freaks, and to film whatever happened. Unfortunately, nothing did."

It was first shown on BBC1 on Boxing Day 1967
I was 7 at the time and missed it too. But I've got a copy of it now tho and watch it at least a couple of times a year.
Think I'll watch it on Boxing Day 2010 .. (with a crate of Guinness) ... 43 years late. ;-))
jamestkirkesq 1 year ago
This was the big show-case BBC programme, on Christmas Day '68 or '69.
I missed it & it was supposed to be repeated the next day but the BBC got so many complaints that it never got shown again.
I've waited all this time to see it.
.
It was .....well ....... a little... bit .......naff ............sorry.
It is a PERFECT snapshot of late 60s Britain though - like I said - a little bit naff !
.
Thank you xx
