Hardee's Commercial - Early 90s

This came out in 1992 I believe (the year I was born no less!). My mum worked here in the 1970s, This commercial is on one of our tapes but the last few seconds are cut.

I went to Hardee's in Charlottesville, VA and Ashland, VA which still were selling fried chicken. I like some of Hardee's food but I find a lot of their restaurants to be dirty and the service extremely slow.

They stopped cooking chicken here in around 2002. I guess they still sell the chicken somewhere? When Carls merged with Hardee's here the burgers got bigger and way more expensive.

The last time I went to Hardee's was during my trip to North Carolina in 1999.

Due to trademark issues between Carl Karcher Enterprise's (CKE) "Hardee's" and Cara Operation's "Harvey's" in Canada, CKE's is not allowed to operate any restaurants in Canada under Hardee's name.

Only problem with Hardee's is that their burger's are too similar to Burger King's.

Since there are no Harvey's restaurants in Newfoundland, I'll go there if I go to the mainland since their burgers are excellent.

I work at hardees and we do not sell that kind of chicken anymore. All we have now is big chicken fillet, charbroiled chicken, and charbroiled bbq chicken.

I don't know what yall are talking about, but there are 3 Hardee's alone in this small county in southern Virginia (more than McDonald's or anything else). And they never stopped selling chicken, thankfully. Hardee's always has and always will have the best chicken ever. I wish that they still sold the roast beef sandwiches though. After the buyout, they got rid of roast beef and replaced it with hot ham and cheese. Hardee's always was a chicken restaurant to me though.

This was hardee's before the Star Chain buyout. We had dozens of Hardee's in the Charlotte N.C. area at one time. Now I think there are 4 left. The chicken was the best in the world when they first rolled it out, but over a period of 5 years or so employee's wrecked the good starting point. Interest dwindled and soon enough the buyout happened. When they tore down the Cotswold store and replaced it with a Chick-Fi-A, and era ended.

Actually, in a way you're right...I read online that the same company that owns Carls' Jr. had, some years back, acquired Hardee's and moved Hardee's corporate HQ's from NC (my home state) to St. Louis I think. Hardee's had then picked up the yellow "star" as part of its logo that Carl's Jr. already had in place. Hardee's operates mainly east of the Mississippi River, while Carl's Jr. is pretty much confined to western half of US.

Yes. Carl's Jr. Did buy Hardees and revamped the menu, going with the angus. Im glad they kept some of the old sammiches like the sourdough. I have always hated that smiling star logo, though. It may work out west, but here in the midwest, it's a bit on the wimpy side.

most of the hardees i've been to (including the ones in my town) are more or less fail now-a-days but they thrived when they had chicken.

@PhilM662 Hardee's once owned Roy Rogers, but they spun it off many years ago. (IIRC, think it was before the CKE takeover) Roy Rogers still sells fried chicken at all locations. Unfortunately for Hardee's, more locations than not(with some exceptions, such as certain Virginia locations) don't sell fried chicken anymore, and one of the only draws to Hardee's still left anymore is the breakfast, since they were bought out by CKE.

I'm in NC, and Chick-Fil-A is pretty prevalent. I've traveled to VA several times, and noticed that Chick-Fil-A and Ukrop's grocery have one thing in common: They're both closed on Sundays. Plus Ukrop's doesn't sell alcohol, but Kroger, Giant, Food Lion, etc. are all within driving distance but don't drink & drive! ;-)
