  • Is the amp set clean or dirty with the OCD engaged? I really thinking about buying this amp, but I need a great clean tone. The dirty sound you have going is f*cking amazing, but I need cleans on the fly without redialing in the amp. Also, does it get to gig volumes before breakup, and if not, how well does it sound with the volume knob rolled off? Thanks.

  • The amp is set for a very light crunch/overdriven sound. The OCD drives the amp into higher gain territory, but does not affect the sound quality from the amp. It's a golden combination! When the OCD is off I have a very touch sensitive sound. When I play hard i get a crunchy sound, when i strum gently it is clean. Not a faster way to go from dirty to clean. The channel I use here does not have a lot of headroom. The other channel can go loud & clean. The clean sound is very warm & sparkly!

  • So, if I paired it with an AB box, I could basically have a channel switching amp between clean and dirty (I plan on getting an OCD too). My main problem is just HOW clean the left side will stay when I'm at gigging levels. I'm used to a Fender Twin, who's cleans I adore. While it doesn't have to be clean to that extent loud, I do want a great clean sound live.

  • Yes, you could use a AB box. I recommend the one that Barber Electronics makes. I'm sure you'll like the clean sound this amp has. And the clean channel can go very loud before it starts breaking up. Especially when the master volume is bypassed!

  • this amp is absolutely amazing. I'm also running a DS1/pro or a SD1/808 (analogman) trough that channel and it's just fantastic...

    Fulltone OCD really makes it!
