Get free cardboard, cover garden spot with it, put leaves on top, water it in, and red clay turns to good soil. Check out lasagna gardening. Great no-work gardening, and cheap!
WOW !!!! I have always said that I was soo lucky to have such a fine son-in-law. It is great to see he has a green thumb as well. I'm going to be planting this weekend, since it is just now getting warm enough here. Love Dad.
Hello Amelia my friend is going in for a gastric bypass next month. I told her about your videos. I know seeing how well you did and how your life with Joel has gone on will help her. She is very nervous. See you videos are now part of self help. Good luck with your garden it looks great.
he might try a little...like a bail..of peat moss to loosen that tight soil. wow i didnt think anyone had worse soil than mine...good luck. ps maybe put some newspaper in the left over spaces to keep down the weeds. smiles~~~
I grew up in little mountain and we had nothing but red clay. We had a huge farm and a really nice begetable garden, but all dad did was use a tiller and make rows in the clay and we planted the seeds. So red clay can be used to grow vegetables. The garden looks great though. It is very creative, the way y'all are placing everything. Totally cool :-)
Garden looks awesome, great job Joel! It is so weird in SC how either you have red clay or sand, both of which need additives to produce good veggies. My yard is all sand! Can't wait to see the harvest videos... Fab
To be honest we really about never fight. It is really cool. We just love and respect each other too much and we tend to think before we speak. It is new to me, I have had verbally abusive partners before him, so I am pleased to have found Joel.
That is really neat. Every marriage I have seen the husband and wife bicker and fight all the time. I always said I want to respect my husband and not because I have to force myself. I would respect because he was kind and respectful toward me, you know? I think that's so awesome you have such a good partner in crime! =)
The hard red clay is usually because in the building of subdivisons the grading of the grounds remove topsoils. You end up with that gumpo soil. Good going guys... ya make a mom proud!
Yeah he is from Florida so he has a very plain accent, mine is a mixture of Northern VA and a very southern GA. When i sound too southern he looks at me or asks me to stop...LOL
Yeah it comes early here, i am used to Northern VA and it is fun to see the seasons change. i also like how Joel doesn't try to do it all in one weekend, just has a plan works as long as he can and just picks up the next time. i am so gung-ho i would have wanted to dig the entire area out before even starting. He is so clever
put all your lawn clippings on the garden this summer then work it in with a tiller next spring. Go to the country and dig up some big fat healthy earth worms.
He has really been working hard at it hasn't he. You will have lots of frech produce how cool is that? I wanted to ask you. What are you eating lately?
Kinda addicted to making fancy cheese and fruit plates with whole wheat Pepperidge farm crackers. Also hummus with tomatoes and feta and of course my 2 chilis and black beans. I am doing much better, not starving anymore
We created our own soil including 1/3 pete moss, 1/3 vermiculite and 1/3 organic soil/compost and it was WONDERFUL for growing veggies. Good job! I will do a video on our garden too. Great minds think alike right?
Your husband is just like mine likes to get dirty ! I like to just eat the stuff not get dirty . . .LOL . . .Our ground is still frozen :( so no planting yet just flower bulbs !
Your just jealous cause Amelia's hubby obviously loves and supports her very much u (brydrea) must have a husband or boyfriend that tried to burry you!!!
