I've said it on other videos and I'll say it again here. These girls are not only being taught that they need to be beautiful and that they need to win, but they are also being taught that their personality, intelligence, and talent is something they need to prove to please others. They will have a hard time being happy as adults without constant attention and positive reinforcement because they've spent their whole lives competing for judges who decide their worth as a person.

entering your child in a pageant is alright with me , and if i ever have a child someday i'll put her in pageants . there's a couple of things i wouldn't do though. i will NOT spray tan, apply nail polishes and other things, inject botox etc.. let your child's natural beauty shine. plus toddlers are definitely too young for pageants try studying human developmental milestones first before you enter your kid . sheesh

Pageants used to be alright, but it's gone too far. Getting their nails done, high lights, hair dye, fake tanning, real tanning, and putting a child under the age of consent in bikinis and make-up? All of those have dangerous chemicals and consequences. When they are a bit older, THEN it's their decision to do those things to themselves, but it's too young for their mothers to force those things upon them.

If they were, then when they commit crimes they should be tried as adults right? they should be able to sit on a jury? To the child the pageant was first her mom's decision & its what gets her approval & attention from her mom. by just doing or approving something the parent is teaching the child that its morally correct and normal, so it is not a surprise that the child agrees after a while.

What I don't understand is WHY these parents feel the need to have theirs child's appearance judged by others. Do they think it makes the child happier? More confident? I believe that it only creates shallowness. If mommy tells you that it's important to look good for others, you will soon realize that looks is the only thing that matters in the end. Make-up or no make-up it's the same purpose. WHY this constant obsession with beauty? A child should never have to worry about their appearance.

If the Blonde mom lets the child do whatever she wants to do, to stop doing pagents or to keep going is the child's choice. You look at the parents and think how can they care about beauty when they don't care about how they look. You would think they would have more self control, and lose lots of pounds.
It doesn't teach the kids discipline or confidence. They look sad, and upset when they lose how is this self confidence. I have watched the shows, and the parents don't even discipline their kids they treat them like a robot that they wind up when they want them to perform. They even coach/program them when they do the dances, and the crazy parent is doing the moves for them. The kids are the puppet and the parent moves the strings. I don't see love coming from these parents.
Whats creepy is these kids have rooms full of trophies, painted pink, typical princess themes, and have all dolls in their room. Just look at Toddlers and Tiaras. This to me is more than a pageant these girls are under mind control. They can't do anything else other than pageants, and carry dolls around. They are being groomed for pedophiles. They even shake their butts at the judges yuck.
If we really care about protecting children then we would not support or watch these shows that sexualize children. There will always be pedophiles but we can prevent more people from wanting to do children if we don't support child sexualization in society, and media. This is sick and, abuse these kids can't be kids they are forced to do this at a young age.
This is sstraight-up not right. Toddlers and little girls are suppose to live a life of innocence not express their sexuality.

@Itakunk That is not entirely true! I used to do pageants when I was younger and I loved it! I went all natural with nothing fake with my homemade dresses from my Grandma and I even won a few small titles. It really helped me with myself esteem and it made me feel like a princess, it was also nice to see how proud my Mom and Grandma were when I would go on stage and do my routine. My point is this can be a good thing for these girls if it is done correctly and with the right motives.

All natural is ofcourse a good thing.. but still, I think that young girls, I mean young, as under 10 -12 - shouldn't think of beauty and beautiful girls will be successful. As a child I did dance and ballet, so whenever we did performances we had the outfits and the makeup...and I liked it for a while. I was put into dancing at 2 and then stopped when I was 8....Simply because I grew bored with it and even though my mom threatened to force me, I clearly let her know--it'd be a waste of our time and her money if she did b/c I didn't want to do it.

people need to chill. there is nothing wrong with pagents. it teaches girls confidence and discipline. it would be wrong if the children didnt want to do it, or it got to there head. there is a difference.
@californiagrrl555 There are other ways girls can learn confidence and discipline, programs such as Girl Scouts or perhaps sports. The problem pageants is that the mothers (who want desperately for them to win so they can live their lives through their daughters) put tons pressure on the children, which can cause stress, anxiety, & problems with early mental development. In addition, mothers spend hundreds of dollars on clothes and makeup; money that could be spent towards the child's education.

If the Blonde mom lets the child do whatever she wants to do, to stop doing pagents or to keep going is the child's choice. It doesn't teach the kids discipline or confidence. They look sad, and upset when they lose how is this self confidence. I have watched the shows, and the parents don't even discipline their kids they treat them like a robot that they wind up when they want them to perform. They even coach/program them when they do the dances, and the crazy parent is doing the moves for them. The kids are the puppet and the parent moves the strings. I don't see love coming from these parents.

Whats creepy is these kids have rooms full of trophies, painted pink, typical princess themes, and have all dolls in their room. Just look at Toddlers and Tiaras. This to me is more than a pageant these girls are under mind control. They can't do anything else other than pageants, and carry dolls around. They are being groomed for pedophiles. This is sstraight-up not right. Toddlers and little girls are suppose to live a life of innocence not express their sexuality.
It gives out such a terrible message. It teaches them about being materialistic, showing off their immature, undeveloped bodies & a lot of these girls learned to develop bad attitudes like being bitchy and sassy towards their parents & others.

are you kidding me?! >:O at 5-8 years old I was watching Pokemon and Sailor Moon happily at home! ^_^ every heard of a fun and memorable childhood? the only competition i knew was that whoever got the 64 pack of crayola crayons, you were the coolest kid in school! >_< i didnt know these types of things would go as far as fake teeth, fake tans, etc. PLUS im 6 years older than the 8 year old and i dont even wear makeup by my choice!

@Itakunk That is not entirely true! I used to do pageants when I was younger and I loved it! I went all natural with nothing fake with my homemade dresses from my Grandma and I even won a few small titles. It really helped me with myself esteem and it made me feel like a princess, it was also nice to see how proud my Mom and Grandma were when I would go on stage and do my routine. My point is this can be a good thing for these girls if it is done correctly and with the right motives.

All natural is ofcourse a good thing.. but still, I think that young girls, I mean young, as under 10 -12 - shouldn't think of beauty and beautiful girls will be successful. Children shouldn't be stressing about these things. They have their whole life time think about these things and stress about it.

As a child I did dance and ballet, so whenever we did performances we had the outfits and the makeup...and I liked it for a while. I was put into dancing at 2 and then stopped when I was 8....Simply because I grew bored with it and even though my mom threatened to force me, I clearly let her know--it'd be a waste of our time and her money if she did b/c I didn't want to do it.

I turned out fine, and so will these kids, if they want to do it, then that's on them not necessarily the parents...It's probably the fake teeth, the tanning the botox like that one mother etc...that I prob' don't agree with but it's whatever as long as they have fun I guess....

@californiagrrl555 There are other ways girls can learn confidence and discipline, programs such as Girl Scouts or perhaps sports. The problem pageants is that the mothers (who want desperately for them to win so they can live their lives through their daughters) put tons pressure on the children, which can cause stress, anxiety, & problems with early mental development. In addition, mothers spend hundreds of dollars on clothes and makeup; money that could be spent towards the child's education.
