@palmisano Why not? Not as good GPS reception? I do actually have a gps-mini with the ceramic antenna from sparkfun. Just a few hours ago I screwed it, tried to "manually" send a pulse to put it into sleep mode, used 5V. It stopped working,I read the data sheet and its 1.8V logic level! $200 down the drain just like that. I will probably get it replaced, wanting it for a outdoor tracker and thought a duck antenna would have better performance.
@detectiveinspekta I've made that mistake many times, myself, but have always been lucky without anything frying. Antennas are optimized for different frequencies, so you'd want the antenna thats been optimized for GPS. I haven't tried the Venus with a ceramic antenna (yet), but I can tell you the reception with that duck antenna was horrible.
Thanks for putting this videos up, they are great!
I do some work with microcontrollers, but I use the Arduino just because that's what I started with. What are your reasons for choosing to work with the Axon? (pros/cons over something like the Arduino)
The Arduino only has 1 UART, the Axon has 4. The Axon has 16 ADC and 15 PWM - the Arduino doesn't even come close. The Axon can also handle much higher currents, and use lower voltage batteries. And most importantly, the Arduino requires shields and/or protoboards to work, while the Axon has a power bus for instant plug-n-play of servos/sensors. Many more reasons =P
I was just curious since you know a lot more about this stuff than I do. I've had a lot of fun with the Arduino, but I'm always curious to learn what else is out there.
I physically, by hand, copied the outputted coordinates and pasted them into Google maps. I'm sure there is a simple way to do it, I just didn't bother.
Where did you get the antenna from, I can not find a suitable one.

@detectiveinspekta sparkfun has them. Don't get the antenna I used in the video, try a ceramic one (it's square shaped and meant for GPS).

I'll keep my eye on the Axon

Hi
Thanks for reply. You said you just typed the cordinates in google map.
Does this give you a real time experience for example if you started walking on the street or is it locked to the typed coordinates.
what do you kind of mean.

Hi
Could say how you plotted the data to the google maps.
Thanks

I simply just typed in the coordinates to google maps by hand.
