And yes, we're well aware of the 1848 treaty in which Mexico lost the area now comprising much of the SW US. Mexico controlled that land for only 25 years since it succeeded from Spain in 1821. By 1848, American settlers outnumbered Mexican Settlers in that area by 5-to-1. In any legitimate sense, it was never sovereign Mexican territory. Here is a idea I have....someone get a van....go to the homeless shelters....load the van up with "LEGAL AMERICANS" then drop them off at all the same place the illegals stand at....when the people show up saying they need workers...let the homeless AMerican citizens run up to the vehicles.

Alot of homeless Americans are homeless because they dont want to work in the first place and/or are hooked on drugs! Illegals come to the US to make a better life for themselves and for their families and are willing to work anywhere and willing to do work Americans are not willing to do.

Americans will work almost any job, but expect a respectable living wage. They are unwilling to work certain jobs if the pay is far below what is should be. Raise the pay of the $8/hour construction job to $16/hr, and you'll find more than enough legal job applicants. Illegal worker do lower wages.
