  • Coolio! Still gotta see 40 running, both times I've gone it's been 2198. BTW, how much was a cab-ride?

  • @indie1361 $45 last I checked. Gotta be 18+.

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • @dwkcamman611 I'm glad you like it.

  • whats with the constant blowing of steam on the firemans side by the cylinders? dosnt seem right to me

  • @uratoolbag Its the cylinder saddle drain. Absolutely nothing wrong there, its doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

  • Thanks for the info, the steamer I run sometimes primes so I just thought I 'd ask..thanks.

  • Great shots as always! Gotta love 40

  • Great video! The 40 is a very impressive engine. By the way, why is there a C39-8 in Conrail colors in the yard?

  • @stlgevo51 I believe they purchased four C39-8's from NS.

  • @trmania They're working on 5 C39-8s. 3 of them are for Ross Rowland's Greenbriar Express, and 2 are for the NH&I.

  • @Miketherailfan Thanks for clearing that up, Mike.

  • Nice work! Man, they really got #40 going!

  • Great video of 40. Any chance of future videos from the 1974 Railfan Weekend with both 1533 & 40 running? Or even any videos of the 1533 in operation?

  • @CNJDave I don't have anything like that. I wasn't born yet!

  • @CSX6000 lol, That was so Funny!

  • As always, a great vid. Thanks for sharing.

  • boy they were flyin up the hill past hood and lower mountain road. they must of been behind schedule or somethin to be goin that fast.

  • @Engineer5344 Actually no, they were NOT behind schedule. To maintain the rediculous hour-schedule they have to run trackspeed, which is 20 mph.

  • Nice!

  • When was this filmed?

  • @sgprailfan 10/30/10.

  • Great video

  • I liked the fireman's gesture at 9:35. Well shot and edited. Your panning skills have come a long way!

  • @trmania I agree! A good tripod really helps.

  • Wow cool video, did you nottice that 40's out on her timing and that she was priming around the reeder shot? But cool vid and gotta love em SP 6 chimes.

  • @andrewbnsf 40's timing is not out as much as you think. The locomotive is hooked up very high which in layman's terms means the valve motion is very short. Any lost motion in the valve gear is thereby accentuated. This way of running, contrary to popular belief, is sometimes ideal to achieve higher speeds with low steam usage. And yes, 40 was priming a bit. This was shot at a point just shy of boilerwash. Also, that particular day the TDS levels were on the high side which resulted in priming.
