Wow, drive-in theaters. Haven't been to one since I was a kid in the 70's. I see them sometimes but they are all abandoned with growth through the parking lot or they are turned into swap meets.
Nicely put together vid mate, and even though I've never been myself to a drive in ever. I bet the experience is second to none, when it's a decent one that is. After all, their our heritage. Though did the U.K ever have them way back in the 50's and 60's though, nice vid anyhow 5***** keep up the good work man!
There is an awesome drive-in in South Carolina. The snack bar and bathrooms are fairly similar. But it's just such a fun experience. Only $6 for a double-feature.
Love the drive in, I take my kids to one by me. It's the Lyn in Strasburg, Ohio, second oldest continous running drive in. I'm gonna see the Hulk there next weekend.
Sweet!! Gilbert, the party starts at 11am, so for us to get a parking, we need to be there at 10.30! I'll pick you up at 9am..I'm calling you later today for more information..
Thanks for the heads-up. There's BIG graffiti all over the walls! But the place reminds me a lot of the 70's. Looks like fun! Wouldn't mind going to one of those. My Dad sure remembers those kida theatres. There's still a few in Missouri that we saw when we were there (their bigger than the inside ones, even). :)
lol I personally LOVE drive-ins..... but the only downside is when u haft to walk like a mile back to your car with like 9 pounds of food and drinks cause u had to get food for every1 then u end up spilling a drink and ya got to go get more money and come back and waight in that long line and the movies allready started so u miss the first half and come back the next time and ya do the same thing ..... well i guess its the same with movie theaters
i recommend going to get your food before the movie. thats a great part of drive ins. make your own pop corn, go to burger king, or make your own meal.
You mean you don't "LIKE IT" when someone spills a 40 ounce Coke in-between your car or truck seats?
You don't "LIKE IT" when someone sticks a half eaten hot dog with onions and relish on it underneith a seat and forgets that it was there, and then the car stinks to high heaven 2 days later?
You don't "LIKE" when your feet "STICK" to the bathroom floor with every step being like stepping on stinky "FLY PAPER"?
Right on, I knew you would get a kick out of that!!!!The truth is, I had a great time, period!! Dirty fcked up bathrooms and all;) Today Eden, it's 104 in the canyon where I live, you believe that??? And, we're not in July yet..Shit, this is going to be one HOT SUMMER!!! Where I live, the Butterfield EstaTES, we have a community pool..The kids and myself are going to be living in there this summer, LOL!!
We're always hanging out in San Diego all the time!! My grandmother use to live in National City!! I grew up going to TJ on the weekends and doing the PARTY THING, LOL!! If I could afford it, I would live out there, it's probably the most beautiful city in California!!! I'll let you know when we're out there, we'll all go eat some great sea food!!
TIJUNA on the Weekend was always a great time, untill one time I drove over and a cop pulled me over for having two of my friends riding in the back of my uncovered pickup truck and he "EXTORTED" every penny we had on us between the 4 of us. He told me in no uncertain terms that If we didn't give him ALL the money we had, he was going to "PUT MY TRUCK UNDER ARREST"
Read between the lines on that one. He was going to "STEAL" my truck in broad daylight.
It funny man, I was going to say a story like that too! We would hang out on Revoluction Street in the bars, the cops would pull you over and ask for money, right in front of everyone!! It's called, in law, custom and usage there..In other words, it's a fckn NORMAL way of business, LOL!!!!
I understand that the "COPS" down there are just doing what they have to do to get "FOREIGNERS" to pay up.
I mean what good does a ticket / piece of paper do once we drive back across the border to America?
But, with that being said: It really doesn't excuse that particular corrupt practice of mainstreet justice. They could just do it the way we do in AMERICA and if you don't pay or show up in court, a warrant is issued, and they get you later rather than sooner. They get greedy too.
I agree!! My grandmother had a home out there (back in the 70's and 80's)..When she came out from Cuba, she lived there..People from there, cant stand the way the system is too..The thing that gets me upset, is the fact that both of my grandparents are buried there, and I dont feel safe to take my kids there to visit and pay their respect..The truth is, because of this corruption, it's just not safe..
It's a shame because both of our cultures could benefit from some mutual respectable influence / assimilation of each other.
The USA could benefit from being exposed to Mexico's Chatholic, Christian, Family Orientated culture, and Mexico could benefit from Americas Organizational skills, in rference to "INFASTRUCTURE" and stuff like that. The USA is far from perfect, and so is MEXICO, but together we could really make it work. I just don't know if it will ever happen though.
Right on man!! You're very intelligent Eden, I know you're going to hate me for saying this, but I have too..You remind me, aside from Rob Zombie, Alice Copper;) He is one educated guy that knows how to ROCK!!! I love his music as well..
Alice Cooper is a very bright guy. That scene in WAYNES WORLD when WAYNE and GARTH get backstage for the ALICE COOPER Concert and there is no drugs, alcohol or no super inane rock-n-roll nonsense is actually true to life. Mr. COOPER has been clean and sober for over 25 years. He is quite a charming intelectual conversationilist.
Hehehehehe you hear the Eagles playing in the background?? I didnt think, with me talking, you could hear it very clear..On Monday I'm going into surgery, so this last week I've been home sun tanning, drinking and DRINKING;)
I had a 24 ounce COORS LIGHT silver Bullet last night and a leftover VICADIN, from a dentist visit..... I was looped.. :~D
Thats pretty much the BIG PARTY for me these Dazes.....
Seriously though....
Best wishes on your surgery~
It's like my DAD taught me...
We just have to understand that "YOUR" doctor is graced by GOD to do what he does, and, GOD and your Doctor are going to work a miracle and HEAL you, in a "REAL WAY".
Thanks Eden!! I'm actually happy because my birthday is coming up on the 30th of this month, we're all going to Magic Mountain for two days to film videos and have fun!! I dont want to be in the pain I'm in right now..I have a 7mm stone stuck in the tube going from my left kidney to my bladder, it fckn hurts!!
I'm fine, I got caught up in this other website. It's called CONCRETE DISCIPLES.
It's a hardcore skateboard website. I used to be in the THICK OF PROFESSIONAL skateboardeing all through the Late 1970's and into the early 1990's. I used to skate with TONY HAWK all the time at the DEL MAR SKATE RANCH SKATEPARK. Anywho... I had to set a few kooks "STRAIGHT" over there. Click on the "ENCINITAS CONTEST" review comment threads and get ready to LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF... SPANK~
Right on man, I dont think I have to even ask you if you ever saw Lords of DOGTOWN??? That is one of my fav films!! Ledger does a hell of a job..You have the 70's, Venice Beach and skateboarding, what more can you ask for???
I still haven't seen it yet, but I've heard it's good. STACY PERALTA directed it, and thats probably why it's good. STACY was and is "THE MAN"
I was never A FULL ON TEXT-BOOK PROFESSIONAL, I was SEMI-PRO. I was sponsored and got free equpment and got travel expenses paid to travel and skate in contests, but I never made a full on monetary living off of sales. But regardless, I was as "INSIDE" as anybody could have been.
You're right, he is the MAN!! The Ledger, Hirsch film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke and is written by Peralta..Yet the first film, doc film was directed by Stacy..The Hollywood film is based off of it, I think???
This summer Eden, I would love to spend a few day hanging out with you out in San Diego, we're going to put together a project on the Whaley house anyway..Will be out there for a few days in Aug!!
I knew Mr. PERALTA was seriously involved on some major level.
August sounds GREAT~ I look forward to cracking one with you and splashing around like a couple of little kids... Not to mention some "BEACH BABE OGGLING"
Drive-ins make their money at the consession stand, cars coming just pay for the movie and some overhead, I am from NJ, where the 1st drive-in started in camden on a barn wall. I have a lot of fond memories of drive-ins growing up. Famlies where able to watch a movie on the big screen as a family event :)
i just don't see Edward Norton playing David Banner, the last movie i saw him in was 25th hour. Death to Smoochy was another good one and let's not forget American History X. those and Rounders pretty much sum his acting spectrum, which is good because there's quite a lot of variety but i just don't see him as a superhero. but i might see it. i don't know where, if there are any left, any drive-in movie theaters ARE near where i live but i'll definitely search for one... with a clean bathroom.
I miss the drive-ins so much. I have many wonderful memories from those days. We have one still operating in MA., in the same sad shape. The pavement is in horrible condition, all broken up with time, pot holes and large rocks, you have to drive into it very slowly or take the chance of destroying the undercarriage of your car. HA HA!
I'm not a Hulk fan but i like your video and wanted to tell you a few days late happy Fathers day you have a lot to be grateful for your being safe with your family...
Still a Drive Ins here at Vegas. Though don't like the bathrooms also. They are just like one big urinal where there just isn't any room to cover your, "little man" up. Also a lot of markings and just very dirty. I'll just see the Hulk in the theaters.
wow I didn't even know there were any drive-in theaters left. The last time I went to one was the Vermont drive-in, and that's been closed since the late 80's or early 90's.
that is pretty sad. Drive-ins will never be what they used to be. I'm still a bit skeptical about the hulk movie... but if you liked it... that might give me some incentive to check it out.
I see what you mean about the bathroom! I haven't been to a drive-in in ages, due to the fact that they are YANKING them all out of CA. Thanks for the fond memories, Forrest! I look forward to the Queen Mary vids!
Good video! The last time I went to a drive-in myself was about three or four years ago with some friends. We saw Scooby Doo 2 and Starsky and Hutch. I had a pretty good time, and wish that I could go again. Thanks for sending and can't wait to see RMS Queen Mary!
The Marvel fans seem to like the movie. I did not really care for it that much. It was much better than the latest Raiders of the Lost Ark movie. What has happened to hollywood? Have they just given up?
Oh my gosh if I opperated that drive in I would fix it up of and nice Cusifix and Rosaries oh and I cant wait for the Quenn Mary Video I love that boat!!!!
The new one is better than the first, but it oo has it's boring moments. It's a tough story to initialize, but it was good overall. The next will not have to dwell on the origins etc...Good effects too. I did think Iron Man was better. This version imo is much better than 03!
That's a shame about the Drive-In. They really were "The" places to go back in the day. Nothin like an outdoor social event, listening/watching stories by the soft flicker of celluloid light.
lol Rodger Ebert made fun of the people who hated the 2003 movie he said it was too intelligent for people, but i hated that one, the new one looks awesome though especially since Edward Norton stars in it, hes my favorite actor
Thank you, you always leave such wonderful comments!! The next one will be the same one I wanted to film over this weekend, the DEAD of the RMS Queen Mary..My brother-InLaw and sister went out of town all week long..This Friday we're all getting together to do this long awaited Ghost Hunt! The vid should upload on Saturday, Sunday the latest..Monday I go into surgery, so I want to have it done before than..
Saw the film last night. Love the rhymes w dark ending! The partnerhip - more to come! Vineland does look a bit sleazy definitely could use a facelift! Great vid ;=]!
It's nice to know there are still Drive Ins left. All the DI's I knew as a child have been leveled to make way for strip malls and housing developments.
Hopefully the owners will see this video and clean the place up!
Hello my dear friend!! I agree with you Gay, they need to clean the place up alittle!! I can understand if they are not "making money", but that place was rocking!! I really miss you!! Please let me know when you're doing a new video, you have alot of fans waiting;)
So many memories. . . m Going to the movies in my pajamas and then playing on the swings before the movie started and then getting lost because I could not find the car.
Hahahah! I did the samething too!! The swings were always right in front of the main screen!! They took them out back in the early 90's if I remember right..
thats so cool that you guys have a drive through movie near you, even if the bathroom does look like a bio hazard zone. lol. ive only been to one once in my life and i had a good time. give the nostalgic feel of watching B movies from your car on grindhouse movie nights. i may not be a child of that movie era, but ill be damned if i cant enjoy it. lol. i should be reviewing this movie sometime next week. probably monday along with 3 other flicks i have to review.
Awesome video brother, you really took me back to the days of smelly bathrooms...LOL
You are right it's a shame they do not take better care of the place.....Thanks for responding with this video..

Dealing with a "FOUL" bathroom is sort of a "RIGHT OF PASSAGE" of sorts for Americans.
It serves the purpose of reminding us how Good we actually have it, 99.9% of the time.

Still a Drive Ins here at Vegas. Though don't like the bathrooms also. They are just like one big urinal where there just isn't any room to cover your, "little man" up. Also a lot of markings and just very dirty. I'll just see the Hulk in the theaters.

Thanks much Forrest, nicly done review. Will have to watch the film. Great vid as always.

I haven't been to a drive-in since "Bonnie & Clyde" was released. I don't think there's any drive-in theaters in my area anymore. They were cool!
mrobertb 3 years ago
wow I didn't even know there were any drive-in theaters left. The last time I went to one was the Vermont drive-in, and that's been closed since the late 80's or early 90's.

that is pretty sad. Drive-ins will never be what they used to be. I'm still a bit skeptical about the hulk movie... but if you liked it... that might give me some incentive to check it out.
again. good vid man.

Have they just given up?

in 1990 at the fiesta in pico rivera. was pissed when it closed. i think there are 3 or 4 left in the L.A area?

Oh my gosh if I opperated that drive in I would fix it up of and nice Cusifix and Rosaries oh and I cant wait for the Quenn Mary Video I love that boat!!!!
Patrickol2 3 years ago
The new one is better than the first, but it oo has it's boring moments. It's a tough story to initialize, but it was good overall. The next will not have to dwell on the origins etc...Good effects too. I did think Iron Man was better. This version imo is much better than 03!

I heard Barstow's Drive is pretty sweet! They do double features.
FATMIME 3 years ago
That's a shame about the Drive-In. They really were "The" places to go back in the day. Nothin like an outdoor social event, listening/watching stories by the soft flicker of celluloid light.

lol Rodger Ebert made fun of the people who hated the 2003 movie he said it was too intelligent for people, but i hated that one, the new one looks awesome though especially since Edward Norton stars in it, hes my favorite actor

Hello Forrest
It's nice to know there are still Drive Ins left. All the DI's I knew as a child have been leveled to make way for strip malls and housing developments.
Hopefully the owners will see this video and clean the place up!

So many memories. . . m Going to the movies in my pajamas and then playing on the swings before the movie started and then getting lost because I could not find the car.
citizenkong 3 years ago
Hahahah! I did the samething too!! The swings were always right in front of the main screen!! They took them out back in the early 90's if I remember right..
Thanks David!!

thats so cool that you guys have a drive through movie near you, even if the bathroom does look like a bio hazard zone. lol. ive only been to one once in my life and i had a good time. give the nostalgic feel of watching B movies from your car on grindhouse movie nights. i may not be a child of that movie era, but ill be damned if i cant enjoy it. lol. i should be reviewing this movie sometime next week. probably monday along with 3 other flicks i have to review.
