  • should of used a weed grinder.

  • Hi! I love the video! I was wondering: is there a way to dehydrate the root without using an oven? I mean, can you leave it to dry on the counter and produce the same results (and flavor)? Also, when in this process would you blanch the dandelion? Thanks!

  • @Syrenka999 I'm assuming something happens chemically when you roast the root. And for this process I don't blanch danelion. I have heard of blanching dandelions to keep them from flowering by covering them with a bucket but that maybe a different process than what you're asking about. Are you refering to boiling the plant?

  • thanx for this, only one iv seen shows start to finnish that makes sence.very helpful cheers

  • @MrKellyo Glad to hear! Cheers!

  • You using the french press wrong. You leave it up until you want the steeping to cease. Peace

  • DO u notice any stimulation like caffine would deliver?

  • @luckyfire3 No I didn't. It's uncaffinated.

  • Excellent! Wish I had dandelions here on our land. We do have lots of white clover and wild blackberry bushes ;)

Loving your videos... thanks for the knowledge (power).

    Peace and Love,

    Jess

  • Great video man.. best one i've seen so far

  • PS

As for flavour, well, we can select varieties that are tastier to our palates, as we do with cocoa or coffee beans; or wine grapes; or anything else. I do find dandelion coffee a bit bitter sometimes. "Gourmet coffee" varieties could be developed--just as they grow specially selected types of dandelion, in Russia, for the latex it yields.

  • Great suggestion. Thanks.

  • I think they are called piss-en-lits in French, or something like that. Also called wet-the-beds. They are a natural diuretic, and do make one piddle a little more, as does chicory. Do you have wild chicory over there? It has flowers like a little blue dandelion, and grows on roadsides. If you buy coffee and chicory essence, you'll find you'll urinate a little more, too. Tee-hee! It's great that you are making your own. Try making it with hot milk.

  • We do have wild chicory here. But I haven't found any yet.

  • Adam ,,Love to know if Meadowlark customers would b game to try/buy coffee with Dandelion root (%mixed in) & critique it/spread the word about it. you'd b the 1st shop i know of.

    Talk about Local :)

  • This is exactly what I plan on doing. Not just with Dandelion but other local/native teas as well.

  • Check out soapnuts!

    watch?v=ASjw9QYcYFw

  • Wow! I MUST try this. Dandelion grows everywhere here in Norway! Awesome!

  • This is great I'll try it sometime soon.

I don't think foraging is good though... 7 billion people foraging for the same thing = fast extinction of dandelions

  • This isn't a solution for 7 billion people. Just those who find it attractive.

  • can you eat the leaves like in a salad?

  • you can, but they are known to be on the bitter side.

  • I would drink it, but its too bad it has no caffeine in it.

  • @entropyfu, no caffeine?

  • Very cool.

  • really cool. :) have you thought about serving it at the cafe?

  • That's the plan. :) It will take some more R&D but this IS the future.

  • awesome video.

As Green Deane would say, there is nothing quite like coffee but coffee.

Do you watch his Eattheweeds videos? I suggest searching for video 62 for more possible uses of dandelions.

  • the outro made me smile. love the new production quality.

    can't wait to try it!!

  • AWESOME, Adam!

    very informative...

  • I was gonna post a vid on making clover tea but my footage was bad

  • hey, I like the new production values. I am going to have to try this.

  • 5*****fav.

BUT that was scary knife work mister. Kids dont try this at home...lol

    peace, love and light

  • HA! Thanks man!

  • Hmm, I'd call that a tea due to the lack of caffeine and the fact that it is made from a root not a bean.

Wtf? What is the difference between coffee and tea? Is it that you can see though tea but not coffee?

What ever. Nice video. I'm going to try it.

Please do more videos on foraging.

  • I will. :) Thanks for the input.

  • I couldn't find any dandelions so I made pine needle tea.

Same steps but you skip the roasting.

Also, I figured out that the difference between tea and coffee is roasting.

  • Cool. I learned something too!

  • ...and most importantly free, sustainable.

i heard chicory root works like a coffee substitute too, i'll try both 'blends'!

  • i have a whole new respect for the plant now! thank you for opening my eyes...

    peace2U

  • :D I'm overjoyed to hear this!

    peace2U2!

  • Nice to know!~~Thanks;)

  • This doesn't have caffeine, right?

That piece at the end reminded me of PBS. :) Nice work.

  • It's caffine free. I'm glad the end reminded you of PBS, that's exactly what I was going for.

  • Cool. I might try it sometime. I have dandelions often, but not a big fan of caffeine.

  • blending the root with other hardy herb twigs or roots is an excellent way to making "more" palatable.

  • no jitters afterwords.

  • great vid. there is a lot of info and literature on the dandelion extolling it's virtues and uses. thanks adam.
