The forerunner dreadnought can withstand hundreds of missiles from the longsword fighters and four MAC rounds from UNSC frigates if the unsc gained control of that ship they are up against with, they can use it as first line of defence while fighting the covenant or evaccuate civillians from planets like Reach, Harvest and Eridanus II or just send hundreds or thousands of marines and odsts

Actually, i think those were just a few ships. The rest may still be in orbit fighting some covenant still there. They wouldn't just abandon the orbital guns.

Good theory Phantom but I believe the ships and the orbital MAC stations are gone, as indicated in the Crow's Nest mission where Commander Keyes states how the Covenant wiped out what remained of the home fleet. And if they had the ships, they would send them. I mean from what info they had at the time, this thing spelt the end of the galaxy. A few heavily damaged MAC stations could be spent for a chance to stop it. Of course anyone who plays Halo 3 knows what the Ark really is.

Yeah I agree, it's not as good as the trailer. But it is still awesome, though I don't know why those UNSC frigates didn't keep on firing at the Forerunner Dreadnaught.

Eh, MACs (Magnet Accelerated Canons.) only have one shot before having to recharge. (Although they do have more armaments, why they didn't use them is beyond me...) I'm wondering more, why they sent three frigates.... the crappiest ship in a fleet. Honestly, I would've sent a battle cruiser... or at least a destroyer..

you gotta remember though, the war with the covenant destroyed the fleet, the Brutes probably destroyed all that was left except for those few frigates.

No as good as the trailer IMO (not as nicely polished), but quite epic all the same, and most importantly, it's was the first cutscene in the game that REALLY sent a chill down my spine, and it's where the story picked up.
