  • Google fake sid chip so you know what to look for. I thought someone had used an FPGA and some analog glue chips to copy what the sid does and that it was compatible with the C64 but I can't find it now. Last I saw it was in the 90s.

  • dose any one know where can get pla chip for a c64 or a repair for one??

  • It can not be repaired, it can only be swapped against a working PLA.

Even it is NOT possible to burn this chip (eprom), it will ruin the whole board and even lead to open fire... DON'T try this!

Look at online-auctions or collectors-circles there should be some in almost any country that these machines have ever been sold at.

  • @chipwaver Is the PLA socketed in most breadbox systems? Mine has a bad CIA chip and PLA, and the U1 CIA is socketed but the U2 isn't. I haven't opened up anything yet though. Is there anyway to tell if it's socketed or soldered without opening it up?

  • @TeamRocketReviews Sometimes the Chips are socketed sometimes not... really depends on your case. One CIA is close to the KeyboardConnector if that one is damages you have issue with the Keyboard, if one of the other 2 CIAs is damaged you have issue with Floppy and Printer (SerialPort)...

  • I need a new sid chip anyway anyone knows were too buy those kinds of chip?? please thanks!

  • online auction, or one of the very few shop's that still support the 8 Bit Friends.

  • Nice video that may come in handy when someone needs to replace a chip inside of the C64
