Gene Vincent? you left him out... actually more influential than Eddie & sadly, Eddie died in the cab ride w/ Gene (which left him with a permanent limp)... Fucking Rockabilly was made from these fellows, screw Carl Perkins Gene & Eddie
I find it creepily haunting that he recorded this 5 years before he actually was killed. Lived fast, loved hard and died young that's what he did! It was nice to hear an Eddie song I haven't heard b4.
ELVIS will always be the KING of Rock n Roll, The Best of the Best, and nothing or no-one can ever change that fact. Eddie Cochran was also great and made his mark in music for the few short years he lived. But there were other greats in their own way at that time also. Who can ever forget the great Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, Richie Valens, and the lists continues. They were all great and they left us all great songs to remember them by. The 50s & 60s will always be the greatest era EVER.
@bmxshowtime Elvis had a great voice, was the king of 50s rockabilly ,because Scotty & Bill playes that way . But when it became's to rock 'n roll music, i rather think of of Chuck, Buddy, Cliff & Shadows, Gene & Eddie.
i still can't believe i live really near his grave. and i still can't believe he is buried in forest lawn in hawaiian gardens ..the shitiest city :/ how sad.
Yeah i read a few years ago in some mag. That if any of the teds saw the taxi driver who drove the car that killed Eddie. They would give him a good beating. I bet he hated the site of teds in the end.
@BaalofSouls Right, thats why Elvis is one of the most celebrated names in Rock and Roll to this day. As a matter of fact, Im pretty positive Eddie Cochran has a song about Elvis, so someone with taste liked him. Keep comments to yourself when you dont know what youre talking about.
@pontiacguy77 shut ur fucking mouth U elvis presely cocksucking fan boy faggot. I DONT GIVE 2 SHITS ABOUT HOW POPULAR OR CELEBRATED ELVIS IS. Ur the reason music sucks balls bc like u and the majoritiy of pop music liking assholes call the shots on whos who. Music is all about opinion so if u dont like my mine then dont fucking read my comments. I am so fed up w u fucking hostile elvis fans. I respect elvis for what he did but beyond that FUCK HIM.
@BaalofSouls Well it seems i struck a nerve. Look, I understand you have a thing for Eddie Cochran, but you dont have to tell me about your fantasies involving sucking dick. Seriously, I dont care if youre gay, but you dont have to throw it in my face. I wasnt insulting Eddie. I like Eddie just as much as everyone else, but you dont have to insult other music. Like I said, just keep comments to yourself when you have no idea what youre talking about. Fag...
@pontiacguy77 LOL ur such an ignorant mother fucker. U dnt understand what Im getting at so u avoid the topic altogether by calling me names. Ignorance has a name and it's pontiacguy77. I never said my opinion's were supreme, yet u seem to think yours are. Fuck off man, this is america and I'll say what the fuck I want when I want w/in my constitutional rights. Factual: u started this bullshit bc u didnt agree w my opinion. Dig up Elvis and fuck him y dont ya, corpse fucker.
@BaalofSouls Wow, You turned something related to music into something totally off subject. Why do you want to talk about fucking corpses? It makes no sense. I honestly dont know why Im wasting my time on you. Youre probably some 14 year old who claims to know good music only because you watched school of rock and had an epiphany. I avoided no subject. You started the name calling dumbass. Im going to stop now, because I know you enjoy this. I bet you cant resist leaving me another comment.
@pontiacguy77 you started this by telling me to keep my comments to myself. Case and point motherfucker and the only reason I responded to ur last comment. Attention all fans of music: pontiacguy77 feels like he knows it all, and u cant voice ur opinion w out him lashing out.
@BaalofSouls Thats why. It had nothing to do with being childish. I never said you couldnt voice your opinion. I just think its inmature that on every video with good music, there are more insults than compliments. Its fine that you have a thing for Eddie, but if you dont like Elvis, why bring him up? Just to piss people off. You were looking for an argument, so you got one. Now please stop wasting my time. I grow tired of so called music fans talking shit instead of enjoying the fucking song!
@pontiacguy77 I agree w you about that. But all I did was agree the highest rated comment. I know I was talking negatively about Elvis, and that wont change, and I brought Elvis up bc of the comment i was agreeing w and commenting on. I dnt just attack musicians I dnt like bc if I did Id be spending all my time on youtube. If they r brought up on the boards, I voice my opinion and typically add "this IS MY OPINION" to avoid arguments like the this one. Fine'.
He was on the way to the airport in london to return to the states when the cab he a light post. He was with Gene Vincent and his girlfriend Sharon Shelley. Sharon wrote Ricky Nelson's first big hit.
The fatal car was, in fact, a local taxi from his last gig in Bristol, an English Ford Consul, driven by a local driver, George Martin. I have been to the site at Rowden Hill everal times to visit the small plaque on the grass verge there.
leoseries, I think you are right here. BUT I wonder if there is some true to the story that UK 'Teddy boys/rockers' were searching/looking for the driver many years after the accident to beat him up because being responsible of Eddies death? Anyone having any info about that? Tnx!
First time I hear this. Thanx jvnicks. FYI: at 01:57 you have Eddies 10 yrs older brother Bob at left (father of Bobby Cochran, gifted musician in his own right). Bob and Ed were really good buddies, hunted and drank together. Guy near Ed is Johnny Rook. Rook was into the screen but in no big way. He got to know Eddie after Ed's performance at Town Hall Party. He sent Ed a message and was invited the next day to Eddies home in Bell Gardens. Ed lived there with his ma and pa.
Wow that was fast nicks! thank you very much never got the chance to hear it before, it was just like I thought it was gonna bee, just perfect! Nice pictures
thank you coupe! I thought I'd throw that together because I have stitches taken out from an eye surgery scheduled for Friday, I didn't know how long it would be before I could see good enough to make another video. Glad you like it, hard to imagine Eddie was just a kid when he recorded that! Died way too young!!
Elvis will always be the King of Rock n' Roll, but no one is better than Eddie & Gene when it comes to Rockabilly
