  • It was always simple to start.

  • @thepbw Did you have a GPS to see how fast were you going?

  • is it hard to start do you think a 12 year old could start it by himself

  • when you have your motor out of the water and you start it up and run it full throttle dose it sound like a govonor is kickin in keeping it from running full. mine dose this i have not had it in the water yet its brand new i bot it with a boat waiting on title right now before i can take it out thanks.

  • thats probably great for areas with lots of seaweed

  • That thing really hauls! Very nice!!

  • Basshunter43 doesnt know shit about boats. Its water cooled from the lake you moron.

  • @ski2livelive2ski It's actually an air cooled engine. There's no water pump. It's air cooled like a lawn mower.

  • @ski2livelive2ski - You shouldn't run your mouth so much about other people. The Briggs is air cooled, it doesn't have a water pump or impeller. I wold call you a moron like you did to the other guy but I try to stay above that. Just don't go putting people down, in this case you are totally wrong.

  • @ski2livelive2ski wrong!

  • @ski2livelive2ski its air cooled douche

  • is that full throtle?

  • N8turefreak....I dont quite understand your question. I have one of these motors and I would be glad to measure.

  • I'm hoping you can help me. I need to know a measurement on this motor that no one can seem to help me with. As the motor is mounted on the transom, what is the distance from the back of the transom to the furthest point on the back of the bar surrounding the rear of the motor? Thanks.

  • i really like the way you set your boat up, did you put a livewell in it?

  • I just got my 5hp just like this, but it seems like a lemon.

I warmed up the engine for more than 5 minutes, but when I crank up the rpm, it miss fires and the motor shakes. I can only keep the motor on low rpm.

    Man.... i think i got a lemon.

  • @kokomomofireball i have this same motor i do not think you have a lemon it does have a rev governor on it is it bogging down in the water or out ?

  • @kokomomofireball try using mid grade gasoline

  • take the govener and that thing will go so much faster

  • does it plane the boat easily

  • Very easy on a 14 and below jon boat.

  • Sounds nice. I love the briggs motors. I enjoy go carts and lawn mowers.

  • Does yours cut out when you snap throttle? Mine does and I cant adjust it out. Just wondering if it's normal. Thanks.

  • Yep its normal. Its made just go go easy on.

  • love the boat man, looks awesome. how much you got dumped in it

  • We were into karting for 10 yrs and ran 5hp Briggs outlaws on nitro and methanol with about 15-17 hp and limiteds running in the low 20hp range, now that would make it move; would just need a larger tank.

  • Nice vid, I had the same motor on the same kind of boat. I bought the motor new and it would always have issues starting. Guess it was a lemon. The only thing is their pretty loud for 4 strokes

  • CTAngler481, Those guys are loud cause they lack the space to create an effective muffler, and anyway, its not so loud where its gunna pop eardrums, but I guess if sound is a problem, ya could always weld a stainless pipe to the bottom of the outboard so the exhaust can be muffled by the water

  • how much was just the boat

  • Ever had any over heating problems seeing that it is only air cooled? Thanks, Bass.

  • No it just works!

  • On water but what is in the fuel tank

  • Gasoline.

  • what does one cost new?

  • THANK YOU! That really looks good. One question though...how is the vibration? I've heard it's pretty terrible. If I've been misled, however, I've seen those at Academy and I've been so tempted to get one!

  • The only really vibes come from the handle on the motor as you see.

  • So you wouldn't say it's uncomfortable? I could forgive it for being loud....but if it kills your hands every time you turn it on, that would be annoying. Sure does push that 14 footer nicely though. Man!

  • Once you get moving under throttle/load the vibrations go away.

  • ok i just bought one of these and it vibrates like crazy. i hav a 10 foot flat bottom with me 180lbs my buddy 161lbs and a cooler say 10lbs it would barely plane out and you have to constantly hold the throttle wide open. it does vibrate badly but i was only holding on for about 20 min sessions. spend the extra money and get a merc. or a honda you wont be sorry.

  • awesome. For a 5hp, it really pushes that 14 ft boat pretty good.

  • Believe it or not, thats actually just a standard lawn mower engine with a cool plastic casing. I know because my father is a dealer for them, and i do lots of mechanical work on briggs engines. And i find that they are very well built aside from commercial engines like kohler and kawi.

  • I heard they did raise the compression slightly on it and the rev limiter is much higher than their lawnmower engines
