A lovely man. I sat alongside him on a TWA flight from New York to Los Angeles in the late 1960s. We kept in touch by letter for a few years thereafter.

@jslasher1 How sweet!! He sent me a handwritten letter after I wrote him a fan letter when I was 12. I hate that he seems to have gotten a bad reputation when he obviously had such a kind-hearted side.

@Ortolann I agree that he was kind-hearted. I heard that during the 80s, a British wardrobe lady was in charge of the wardrobe on the set of the A-Team. Mr. T apparently didn't like this lady and tried to use his clout to have her fired, but Peppard intervened and told the producer that if she was fired, he'd go too. Truly a chivalrous man.

I grew up in the l960's and MGM's George Peppard was Hollywood's Golden Boy. Thru working at MGM in Vincente Minnelli's

"Home From The Hill" or the giant Cinerama Western "How The West Was Won" along with loanouts to Parmount for the iconic "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and the box office supersmash hit "Carpetbaggers" and to Columbia for Carl Foreman's "The Victors" Peppard was riding high. I met him once years later in London. A Gentleman. And a star forever.
