ANOES 2010 overall in my opinion -5 stars. I hate the whole thing about it; cheesy F/X, Haley Freddy looked like a melting candle, Nancy isn't likable(She supposed to be the main character not some blonde slut), none of the characters are likable period, they had a noob directing it in the first place, and HALEY DOESN'T GOT SHIT ON ROBERT ENGLUND end of story.
Idk, I liked this movie. Wasn't scary, but it was entertaining to me, and the scenes that were rehashed from the old Elm Streets were awesome little tributes to Elm Street enthusiasts and to the original. Plus Haley is amazing. Englund is better, but Haley's still amazing.
Certain movies don't need to be remade. Nightmare was one and Halloween was another. Besides my favorite actor in this Nightmare was the pretty,blond girl. She not only was beautiful,but a decent actor as well. Too bad they killed her character early on.

Too often remakes of old horror movies are done because of improved special effects & because the rules now let the film makers get away with more(sex & violence) than in the past. But,bloodier,sexier with better effects don't necessarily make a better flick..The terrible re-make of that old 60s classic ghost story,the HAUNTING is proof of that.
The Thing and The Fly from the 50's needed to be remade because they were these hokey 50's b-movies that had a great idea but didn't have the time or technology to do them justice back in the 50's, two talented well known horror filmmakers grew up with them and remade them to make them for a new generation and better than their originals. A good example of a horror remake of a not-so-terribly well known movie is The Crazies and the original was very unknown to many

I like the first 2 Alien films for instance,also 2 action oriented independent scare film--Dog Soldiers,about a small core of british soldiers trapped in a isolated farmhouse fighting off a family of werewolves & Descent about a group of women in caves fighting off a countless creatures in the dark. But those are orginals. Remakes are hard because they take a film idea out of its time and move it to another.

I'm sorry but i thought The Thing remake was better than the original and way more faithful to the original novel since the original monster was a shapeshifter, Carpenter grew up with both the original and book since he was a kid and he paid respect to both sources. @Johnlindsey289 I didn't like Hostel or Saw because while I sometimes like action oriented--even violent horror ala Dog Soldiers,I don't care much for torture or sadism. I like a good scare,but sitting & enjoying a victim's torture doesn't so much scare me as lower my human compassion. I didn't find for the Blob remake memorable. I like Jeff Goldblum,so I liked the Fly remake,but the orginal's garden scene where the fly is pleading out of it's little human head atop an insect body is horrific.

The movie like the novel was a ghost story where there was partically no violence,no special effects and without a single sighting of a maleviolent spirit. The horror came from the mood,as conveyed primarily by a team of excellent actors whereas HOSTEL & SAW bored & disgusted me..without creating fear. It's a matter of personal taste.

The movie was good it why someone should expect a remake to be just amazing. Another thing the point of the movie is to make you think about someone killing you in your sleep after you have watched the movie not during all this movie does is make you jump but what you get out of it is the wonder of what if I fall a sleep. On top of that this remake explains a lot more of the past than the original did.

i grew up in the 80's and in my opinion Freddy was the king of horror. I was offended by this movie all the way around. The original Freddy had so much character and charisma and he would've kicked the new Freddy's ass. But I would put the majority of blame on the producers of this simple minded piece of shit, from the abercrombie/model/zombie actors to the changing of the plot. The creators of this remake need to be doing reality tv shows like the hills for mtv not directing horror movies.

@neashakyl No I thought that too awhile back but after looking at and reading interviews this wasn't supposed to be remake but a re-imaging changing up the story as well as the Freddy Krueger character a bit. That's why it was very different from the original. I'm still a true fan of the original but I thought this one was interesting.

Alright this was a re-imagining! There were references like the bath tub scene to the original but nothing was predictable. Even though I admit that Jackie earl haley isn't as scary as robert englund this movie had me jumping every 5 minutes and I never jump!

The whole point of a remake is to re-use old dialog, old scenes and freshen them up. This movie is actually, in every sense of the word, a true remake. They mixed up some of the characters scenes just so true fans would reference the originals. I really liked the sludge hall scene from NoES 3.
This movie is more for the fans than it is for the casual audience...hence the whole remake thing.

i have to disagree with this review. i think this one was an improvement on the original. with this one, we got a more credible reason in this one for why Freddy was killing these individuals. it was much more suspenseful in comparison to the original. i dont know, i think this was a really really good movie.

The movie was good it why someone should expect a remake to be just amazing. Another thing the point of the movie is to make you think about someone killing you in your sleep after you have watched the movie not during all this movie does is make you jump but what you get out of it is the wonder of what if I fall a sleep. On top of that this remake explains a lot more of the past than the original did.

i grew up in the 80's and in my opinion Freddy was the king of horror. I was offended by this movie all the way around. The original Freddy had so much character and charisma and he would've kicked the new Freddy's ass. But I would put the majority of blame on the producers of this simple minded piece of shit, from the abercrombie/model/zombie actors to the changing of the plot. The creators of this remake need to be doing reality tv shows like the hills for mtv not directing horror movies.

That's why it was very different from the original. I'm still a true fan of the original but I thought this one was interesting.

I saw the original right before I saw this new one, and compared to the original, I thought that this movie told the story a lot better. Yes, the old Freddy is the best and there could have been more clever ways to die than they did with this movie, but I still liked the new one in comparison more than the old one.

The whole point of a remake is to re-use old dialog, old scenes and freshen them up. This movie is actually, in every sense of the word, a true remake. They mixed up some of the characters scenes just so true fans would reference the originals. I really liked the sludge hall scene from NoES 3.
This movie is more for the fans than it is for the casual audience...hence the whole remake thing.

Since they are VERY lucid dreams (Meaning you have conciseness in a dream) You can control everything to fucking obliterate Freddy till you make up. Like think of a flame thrower and torch his ass. The most obvious ways of ending things are never done in movies. Like AIM FOR THE HEAD.

I just saw this movie last night and I LOVED IT!!!!!!! This movie kicks major ass!! I was entertained from beginning to end!! I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars!!

i have to disagree with this review. i think this one was an improvement on the original. with this one, we got a more credible reason in this one for why Freddy was killing these individuals. it was much more suspenseful in comparison to the original. i dont know, i think this was a really really good movie.
