You can see by the speed of them going away from the hill, that the wind is coming from there, that can make a rotor on this side of it. THat might be the case for the 2:nd pilot. tip. dont fly in the leeward. If you have to , keep good presaure to the canopy by having some brake on.

might have been a little bit of rotor but it looks more like the guy in the back went too deep on his brakes and stalled his glider.

I guess if there are no other options then any landing you can walk away from is a good one! I guess I'm very conservative and would have checked the bailout lz before chukking...

there is a big landing spot in the area, to get there you have to know your flying a little bit... its a very nice flying site and a intermediate pilot should not have any problems or danger there...

Not really, thats the way that spot is, when you have strong thermical conditions you should not have the need to land there... otherwise youre gonna have to know your glider very well and land it with good speed in order not to be affected by the rotor or downwind

For sure it was downwind and rotor, just look at the first glider speed.

There was no wind at all, and yes this spot is very complicated to land, we use it when cant get to the official landing field... THNX 4 ur comment...

Nothing happened to him.. just went off air for five minutes or so... and then flew again!
