@littlerockpro This is great advice, just look a Moe Norman as he got older, very abreviated backswing. Also look at Dan Pohl. Thank you for presenting this case!!
You'll never quite feel how nice wrist lag and *pure* ball striking come together until you've shortened your back swing. Instead of losing most of your power (and mind) trying to release/square/stay compact/maintain wrist cock/blah blah blah why not just swing to 9 o'clock, keep staring at the back of the ball and start feeling your millions of awkward swing thoughts and co-ordination attempts dissolve into a natural tendency to rip the cover off the ball as your 4 iron stings it pure...again..
I went from a 16 hdcp. to a 6 very soon after I shortened my back swing. After I viewed my swing on a video camera, I noticed I had a terrible over-swing. I lost a lot of accuracy when i took the club too far back. I wish I would have done this years ago.
I aim for the front bottom of the ball and I try to keep my club from going higher than my knee. Much straighter and same distance. Takes a little practice but it does improve your game. Shorter swing is the way to go.
i tend to find myself with an 80-90 yard pitch shot but hit my PW 110 yards, so in order to hit it that 80 yards i shorten my swing and find the ball 40 yards past my target. Great tip!!!
Fantastic golf tip!! This is exactly what I have concentrated on for a the last couple of months, my golf has gone to a new level. Best advice you can get!
I didn't become a real good player until I made my back swing shorter. the key is not letting the right arm ( 4 right handed players) fold or let the inside forearm rub against the bi or what my teacher said "flexing a muscle".
From putter to driver a shorter backswing is superior!!!
