I hate the Government. They are to blame for the economy and the loss of American jobs. Americans must wake up. Vote for Ron Paul if you want your country back.
Dude, all he blamed the government for was the loss of American jobs. Surely you don't drink the kool-aid that the government is so great, has all the answers, and has your best interests in mind.
Really? wake up man, and ask him what his screen name stands for, then google the names Joseph Stack & Patrick Bedell... these type of people are killing innocent people because they hate the government.. and the next time the price of gas goes up, they will be pointing a gun at your head, blaming you.
I grew up in Lakewood Heights. My stepfather worked at that plant for many years and my grandfather worked at the nearby Southland Casket Company on Margaret St. When we were kids, we used to jump on the freight trains at Sawtell, or on McDonough, and ride them for a mile or so. Those were the days.
Oh wow,man I grew up right there too in Lakewood, went to Tull Waters, and use to go to Reeves store to buy candy there in front of Transus,I remember watching the train go by and waiting to see the red caboose at the GM Plant where my grand dad workedwhen I was a kid,he use to take me to Zesto's up there, hehe, good times!

Well, what can I say? The UAW sucks. They stand to drive GM and Chrysler down like Eastern Airlines. Lorenzo was no saint, but the unions were (and still are) what drive prices up and potentially kill corporations. Then a bunch of people lose their jobs. Cut their nose off to spite their face. What sense does that make? At one time Georgia had 3 car manufacturing plants going strong.
I worked at the GM Lakewood Plant from 7/7/76 to 4/15/87. During that time we built the Chevy and GMC Truck (on "truck side") and the Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevy Chevette and Pontiac T1000 (same car). When I left we were in a model change to build the B car (Chevy Caprice and others).
Lots of good memories there. GM is in big trouble.
@rweskew01 My stepdaddy worked there from the mid sixties until the late eighties. I grew up in the area. Remember the work stoppage of 1982 when some of the workers had to go to Shreveport?
They produced Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs, and Chevys at different times. The Chevrolet Caprice and other B-bodies were the latest vehicles they built until the plant closed in 1990.
GM closed it down and it just sat there for years. Now, an intermodel trucking company is using it. Some structures have been torn down. The whole place is going to be tirn down in about another year or so.
Thanks for the video. I worked there from 1984 thru 1990. I still miss the place after all these years.
