I used to skateboard with Matt Good. Back in the day he use to work in a Skateboard store in Coquitlam called Pure Skates. I used to skip school and hang out at the store when he was working. Wierd..he used to listen to Public Enemy back in the day. This is one of my favs from the band.
This song turned me on to Matt Good 15 yrs ago. and now is just one of many MANY favorites. What an incredible artist,(or person for that matter) In some ways I'm glad that he never really caught on down here in the states like some other Canadian Band from the same era. Listeners of Matthew Good appreciate the art of his music and the lyrical genius that he is. Let the Sheep listen to the band on the top forty station. i remember when he won that CFox seeds radio contest with a demo song in 93 or 94 or somewhere around there. That contest win got him recording time which the band he formed used to make a 4 song demo that landed them their recording deal. Same annual contest Nickelback won like 8 years later and did the same thing.
Sometimes I think to myself, "Dear Lord, why is that every Matthew Good discussion always ends up with Nickleback's name coming up?" F*** Nickleback - Their mark on music is nothing but a dirty soil. I know one other thing for certain, If Matt's music were radio played deep down in the US here (having spent 20 years in BC, 10 years in Dallas, and 2 in New Orleans), he would be in such seriously high demand and easily outsell NB 10-fold. There's a serious amount of people who love real musicians
Oh believe me, it's nearly impossible to pin down a favourite Matt Good song. As soon as I think I do, a different song of his makes me re-think my decision. There are so many gems... I'm lucky enough to have grown up in Vancouver, and have been listening to his stuff on the radio since the 90's. I'm glad that Canadian radio stations are required to play something like 30% Canadian content.

He's a brilliant man, and his songs.. to those who listen to the lyrics and digest them, are not chewy bubble gum songs that repeat, and repeat. Matthew Good writes songs with a purpose behind them, and I think the audience he reaches out with his music to has to have an acquired taste, and if not that, then an understanding of the world around them. I'll listen to his music over the repetitive junk pouring out into the music industry these days.

I used to skateboard with Matt Good. Back in the day he use to work in a Skateboard store in Coquitlam called Pure Skates. I used to skip school and hang out at the store when he was working. Wierd..he used to listen to Public Enemy back in the day. This is one of my favs from the band.

This song turned me on to Matt Good 15 yrs ago. and now is just one of many MANY favorites. What an incredible artist,(or person for that matter) In some ways I'm glad that he never really caught on down here in the states like some other Canadian Band from the same era. Listeners of Matthew Good appreciate the art of his music and the lyrical genius that he is. Let the Sheep listen to the band on the top forty station. Thank You Matt for "Keeping it real" all these Years.

i remember when he won that CFox seeds radio contest with a demo song in 93 or 94 or somewhere around there. That contest win got him recording time which the band he formed used to make a 4 song demo that landed them their recording deal. Same annual contest Nickelback won like 8 years later and did the same thing.

Sometimes I think to myself, "Dear Lord, why is that every Matthew Good discussion always ends up with Nickleback's name coming up?" F*** Nickleback - Their mark on music is nothing but a dirty soil. I know one other thing for certain, If Matt's music were radio played deep down in the US here (having spent 20 years in BC, 10 years in Dallas, and 2 in New Orleans), he would be in such seriously high demand and easily outsell NB 10-fold. There's a serious amount of people who love real musicians

Oh believe me, it's nearly impossible to pin down a favourite Matt Good song. As soon as I think I do, a different song of his makes me re-think my decision. There are so many gems... I'm lucky enough to have grown up in Vancouver, and have been listening to his stuff on the radio since the 90's. I'm glad that Canadian radio stations are required to play something like 30% Canadian content.

He's a brilliant man, and his songs.. to those who listen to the lyrics and digest them, are not chewy bubble gum songs that repeat, and repeat. Matthew Good writes songs with a purpose behind them, and I think the audience he reaches out with his music to has to have an acquired taste, and if not that, then an understanding of the world around them. I'll listen to his music over the repetitive junk pouring out into the music industry these days.
