  • Reason we (Especially Oklahomans) get kind of aggravated with Brits, Is because NO The UK does not compare to here at all. Not in any form or fashion when it comes to thunderstorms. So Please give it the fuck up.

  • Where exactly were you filming from?

  • @KingofSims84 - I was born and raised in Macc - this was filmed from Northgate Avenue (top of beach lane) out my old bedroom window!

  • i never new uk had tornados!!!!!

  • @HammyDoodles123 we have more than th USA

  • @TheChazxxx The fact remains that 99% of all tornadic activity reported, they all turn out to be mis identified weather phenomena. When physical research has been done, including analysing the weather patterns for the supposed micro tornado, it turns out to be nothing more than squalls. Torro gets lots of reports of Tornado's but only 1% are verifiable as such. The UK as never seen an F2, the claim is bogus. That being said a F1 ripped through Birmingham a few years ago. The media are liars.

  • we dont have no where near as many tornadoes as in the states per year the ones we do get 95% are F0 maybe once every 5 years or so we will experiance an F2/T5 . As an average the uk experiances between 50-75 tornadoes a year that are reported which is about the same as the state of oaklahoma Only. There Are Many More States !!!!!! For Our LAND MASS WE HAVE THE MOST IN THE WORLD

  • @TheChazxxx Coming from the State itself Oklahoma City, Trust me. Tornadoes are our thing. No one knows them better then us. Trying to Compare the United Kingdom to Oklahoma city is like Comparing a Ford Pinto to a Ferrari. There is no comparison when it comes to Thunderstorms. How do I know? I spent 3 years of my life talking everyday to a girl from Manchester England living out in the country side. We on Average see atleast 2 F 4/5's a year and Few are smaller then F3

  • have u heard of brighton? do u think there will be tornados there?

  • I agree that it would be interesting to see this in real-time. I'd have expected fore pronounced rotation for 5x speed. Are you able to post a real-time version?

  • Wow ! whoever took this has to be very lucky! Here in the us Or midwest to be exect we go lots of em but still even then to get on tape is pure luck sometimes.

  • a lot of things like this happened in 1999

  • i live in cheshire nd i was 4 when this happened :D

  • We get tornadoes all the time here in Oklahoma. This is a familiar sight.

  • @stephenp1968 Yes, we know. That's all we hear. Why do Americans get offended when Tornadoes happen in other countries? If you take the size of the country into account then the UK gets more Tornadoes per sq kilometer than the USA.

  • Believe it or not Britain has more tornadoes than the United States; it's just that tornaodes don't get as big.

  • i live in northern ireland do tornadoes happen there?

i've never seen one actually happening

  • Yeah it's quite possible especially in the spring/summer months. Look out when you get a sunshine and heavy/thundery showers day

  • Very mesmerising to watch, bet you couldn't believe your luck:-)

  • How mad is that.

  • geez ive been watchin these tornado videos(very entertaining) but last nites oklahoma storm scared the shit outta me cuz of them! The thunder sounded amazing but i need to lay off these videos before i move in the bathroom tub!

  • Congratulations whoever took that footage! It must have been amazing to witness something like that, especially in this country where we never get decent weather!

  • it was me :)

  • Well congratulations again!! My partner and i are always eagar to go out with the camcorder to hopefully one day capture mother nature at her best. I don't care if what you took wasn't a full blown tornado, it can be classed as multi-funnel clouds and that was beautiful and rare in itself. I'm sure you won't forget about that day for a long time! Well done!

  • This is kind of like the footage taken in the outside area of that apartment complex in Edmonton Alberta Canada just before the infamous Edmonton tornado struck on July 31st 1987.

  • Wow - that was so cool.

  • Awesome seldom multi vortex tornado. F3?

  • WOW, i live in merseyside and thats the COOLEST thing ive ever seen!

  • wow i lived in cheshire all my life *UK* near there in Nrthwich but i neva been to macclesfield muchh

  • i live near northwhich to

  • im glad we dont get huge tornadoes here in the uk, but this would have been cool to see

  • Intense Rotation, like something here in the states.

  • @Trin3tyIII Nothing close to what you get in the states. Do remember that the video is X5 normal speed, so this at normal speed is all really slow and unappealing.

  • amazing, ive lived in macclesfield 4 life and i never saw this. awesome.

  • awesome footage, see the rotation very clearly, ive filmed two funnel clouds in the past 2 year but havent seen good rotation like this personally in real life, hope to see a supercell this yr .

  • I think it's fair to say UK does have more tornadoes per Sq mile than anywhere else, but as they tend to knock a few tiles off the rooves on one or two homes, whereas a big player in USA will wipe out a small town in minutes. I'm quite happy having more small ones thank you!!

  • woow ppl stop arguing about who gets the most tornadoes a year its like a competition. whatever country you are most likley 2 get killed in wins lol

the fact is that countries like the us and canada get more tornadoes a year because those countries are a lot bigger! just like they have more people living there because there a lot bigger but the uk has more per square km so you are most likley to see a tornado in the uk even though they are usually small

  • It's trailerpark to trailerpark competition, not nation to nation competition.

  • Canadians arguing that they get more tornadoes each year than the UK like it's a national pride thing, hahaha you should get out more. Oh like what has been said do research then comment.

  • @Dhekelian To us it is :( we okies aren't known for much besides the Shopping Carts and Toby Keith Lmao

  • In all truth I wrote an article on it)the Netherlands gets the most tornadoes per square kilometerm followed by the UK. Even though Europe does get over 100 tornadoes each year, and probably three times or more that number of waterspoutsm no place on earth compares to the central US. 98% of the UK's tornadoes are Torro 1 or 2, or F0 to a weak F1.

  • Whay Cyrus said is partically true.

But UK tornado's have been also F3+...

    And thats rated DMG

If people just did proper research xD

  • ''If people just did proper research xD ''

damn right way too many just saying shit they dont know abou in every subject not just weather., man i hear you so clear!

  • i went to my cottage in bancroft ON and we experianced a hell of a tornado so canada has tornados as well

  • Mainly in southern Manitoba.

  • What does it look like in real time? If it looked like that then a tornado would have been likely, but it just looks like scud rising into the base of the cloud.

  • its only a 5x timelapse. You can see it rotating flush to the ground. Scud clouds do not reach the ground unless they are tornadic.

  • This looks like a tornadic supercell with the mesocyclone (wall cloud) clearly visible from which the vortices are produced. Very rare in the U.K. It's hard to tell if they reached the ground though for the trees are blocking the visibility.

  • wow methylene...you are cool.

  • I think methylene is pretty bang on actually.

  • I have never heard of the UK having tornados. I thought that the US was the only place that these type of storms happened

  • Where have you been living ? I remember 1997 a tornado ripped through the south cost of England though small in comparision to Oklahoma territory. To answer your question there are many more plaves in the world that get tornadoes other than the US

  • I lived in Germany for over six years and I never heard of any tornados in europe. But, I never asked about them either. Thanks for the infomation.

  • 'With the amount of media coverage dedicated to American storm-chasers, you'd think the US had the monopoly on these twisters. It doesn't. It might come as a shock, but the United Kingdom is actually the world's most tornado-prone nation' quote from the BBC

  • The UK gets the most tornadoes PER SQUARE KILOMETRE. But the UK is VERY small in comparison to the country that gets the most tornadoes per year - the US, and even smaller in comparison to the second place winner, which is Canada.

  • funny that nobody mentions poor ol' Canada. We are second to the US for total number of tornadoes per year. Tornado alley extends up into the prairie provinces of Canada, and Southern Ontario. Once again, the UK gets the most tornadoes PER SQ KILOMETRE. Not difficult to imagine when remembering that Canada is the second largest country in the world - 40 times bigger than the UK, and the US is the third largest. The UK isn't even in the top 25.

  • As a chaser and a person that studies severe weather and tornadeos, I must say you are very wrong in saying the UK gets more tornadoes than any other country. Tornado alley, right here in the U.S. gets the most Tornadoes every year!

  • he said per square KM (as in density) and that statistic is correct. The US has more but over a MUCH more spread out area (less density). You're obviously not a scientist

  • Sorry, but I have to disagree. Can you prove this?

  • Such idiots on Youtube, always willing to argue without doing their research first. Its a well known fact, that FOR ITS SIZE, the UK has more tornadoes than any other country in the world.

  • Nicely caught..who'd be a pylon?

  • Yeh tornados are quite common in britain.. its just that they are that small they go unnoticed... and smad333 is right we get more tornados per year than pskm than anywhere in the world... add global warming and theyree gonna get bigger!

  • looks a little like the 1957 Dallas tornado...

  • theres loads out at see

  • That's true, bigluke1990. A lot of UK tornadoes occur at night, especially off the Isle of Wight. To the best of my knowledge, UK MV's are pretty rare, you were lucky to catch that one.

  • The UK gets more Tornados per sqaure KM than any other country in the world

  • really...i'm from the UK and I aint seen 1 tornado or even close to one in my life...those was one in my area recently...but it was a pretty rare event lol.

  • But minus the x5 timelapse i doubt any rotation would be noticeable.. to me this just looks like inflow.

  • true, but in this vid I am optically zoomed in x12 (it was occuring quite far away) so I'd imagine closer up you'd see more rotational detail near the ground. Still an impressive occurance!

  • I studied this video for about 30 minutes. This would not be classified as a tornado!

  • nice ty

  • Nice. That looked like perhaps an F-0, but certainly some rotating vortices close to, or on the ground. COme out to Oklahoma and Kansas sometime...you'd love it!
