I use airsoft only to train for my "real" firearms. I need the experience to feel real, so i need the recoil to be as close as possible to the weapon/ammo combo that i am using. It's really that simple.

If i were just skirmishing or target shooting with the airsoft, then i would probably be ok without recoil, but for training, gotta have it.

You have the normal shells, you have low recoil ones, you have high powered ones that kick more. It also depends on the projectile itself since there are a lot of different ammo kinds.

It also depends on the gun itself because it might be heavier/have recoil dampeners or just stock in line with barrel.

And there are different gauges. 4, 8, 10, 12, 18, 20, 28 and .410 and they share different kick.

That is true, but lethal firearms use gunpowder to propel the bullet (and cause recoil). The recoil of even a .22lr is nearly 3 times the recoil of probably any GBB gun out there. The GBB M4 in here is mainly for PTW and realism purposes.

The heavier the piston, the heavier vibrations, but notice, that the piston head slams at the cylinder head harder, what passes the kinetic energy of the piston to the front of GB and causes its earlier consumption followed by breaking the front of GB.

I don't know what limits do you obey in the States, but in Poland, where I live there is a lot of high-fps maniacs who use replicas that they wouldn't get shot from against other players and what most of them love is full auto what in case of heavy piston can break even the most sophisticated gearbox.
