  • Nooooooo, don't mothers finest, silver service cheese knife

  • you could of just said cover in pva glue and pour baking soda over it and saved so much time.

  • Sweet Raptor Jesus...don't use cardboard as your terrain base. It'll warp something fierce and not last at all.

    Use MDF or preferrably masonite.

  • @dreihaddar its actually lasted longer than I expected, its still intact luckily, but thin wood is good too

  • @dreihaddar A good cheep thin base for terrain is that tri-fold stuff for science projects. It has a kind of paper on both sides and foam sandwiched in between. The only problem is the edges can become squashed over time but it is thin enough that it will not effect models sitting on the edge, but i have one i made at least 5 years ago and it is still nice and rigid. If you want to take it around to games and not have it stay in one place for the most part then yes MDF or masonite would be beter

  • @nithia

Sounds like foamboard! If anyone is having trouble finding it you can also ask for poster backing material (used to make posters more durable).

Excellent stuff! I usually use it for walls myself.

Mind you, I mostly make terrain for my gaming store and gaming hall, meaning the terrain gets ALOT of abuse. I can totally see foamboard or even cardboard basing working if you or a few people are the only one that use it.

  • @dreihaddar Ya its foam-board i just could not think of its name at the time. I made a very nice ruin out of pink foam insulation and foam-board and left it at a GW for this whole year. I had to take it back because some one broke part of the wall off so i had to fix it (a thin part between two windows) but the foam-board (foam-core) was in great condition and still as straight as the day i left it there. But i learned why you cant share nice things.

  • and then you just go like PFFFFFF haha, pretty nice.

  • can u use pva glue

  • that's not primer, just home depot "solid-color stain." "solid-color stain" looks just like paint, but it fades instead of peels like paint does. it does need primer like paint does. it would say, "primer/sealer" on the can and most likely have brand names like, "zinsser bullseye 123," or "kilz."

also, why not use a larger brush to cover the large expanse of cardboard first, then go in with a small brush for the details.

thanks for the vid! helpful tips!!

  • nice, thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for this video GoldFist501st! I play WoC, whom resides in the cold Chaos Wastes and I've been thinking of building a snowfield with ruins and rocks like these. But I have been afraid to make things too white you know. That ice side-effect from the glue was awesome! Think that will happen with See-Through Glue? Anyway, thanks! ^.^

ps, do you have to use primer or does regular white paint work good as well?

  • @ProdigyBigBoss89 yeah i think regular white paint would be completely fine like 99% sure on that. the ice effect should work with clear glue also

  • OY YA STOOPID GIT! OrKS iZ rEd!

  • youre brusjh is a little bit to small :D:D:D

  • If you mix the White glue the baking soda and a touch of white paint you have more control and it seals. Adding the white paint will stop it from turning yellow or absorbing stuff from the air. Nice tutorial, inspired me to Use the idea of snow covered boulders : )

  • do i have to make that sound effect when i blow the extra baking soda away? lol

  • yeah its mandatory or else it looks terrible

  • haha ok ill try to remember that ;D

  • how appropriate :) not bad.
