  • WWF had Saturday and Sunday night. Mid.South took.over Sunday night

  • Damn I remember those days. Iceman King Parson has just went to Mid South and was beeding with Kamala. That's was my first time seeing Terry Taylor.

  • Y'all Stole Gordon From Florida... " From The Sunshine State"!

  • I'm sure anyone that watched WCW or CWG remembers 3 things - Wrestling came on TBS at 6:05 and lasted 2 hrs - UNLESS the Braves had a 7:05 or 7:35 game. I always checked the TV guide a week ahead and was ecstatic if it was a 2 hr show. Secondly, the show often ended with a melee in the ring. I would say 3rd - but it should go without saying Gordon carried the show. Everyone else could come or go and the show would go on.

  • I could c Harley race leading a horsemen like group. But I don't think they b elite as far as classy suit wearers, they'd b elite athletes but a buncha rugged cats. Cats like dick slater,Ken patera, the funks,Ted debiase, etc.

  • Wow debiase got his ass kicked!!! Brad messed up tho. He shoulda broke away n fought someone else. He should know that the heel doesn't get his ass kicked by faces like that. Still funny tho. GCW: some of the best wrestling EVER!!!

  • thank you tim58hsv. this is the vintage kick ass stuff.

  • Hogan sucked with his two move skill set. Flair didn't need a million dollar PR machine behind him to sell out an arena unlike Hogan who couldn't sell out his backyard without Vince's money behind him.

  • this is why Flair appeared so weak. and this is why Hulk Hogan was so superior to Flair as a champ back in the 80s. Here Flair is flat on his back and his title is given back to him because the other guy went off the top rope. is that supposed to make an impressive champion? Hogan otoh would always destroy his challengers in a very dominating manner. But Flair would always be the same. He kept his title thru bullshit not domination. no wonder the WWF took over.

  • @gonzomoya420 Huh? Hogan had 3 moves. He was good with a mic, but as far as entertaining, could not hold Flairs jock.

  • @gonzomoya420 Hogan was in no way superior to Flair! Hogan was more popular during the mid to late 80s because he was a "face" and Flair was mostly a heel. They had two different characters, which they both played well. But hogan had to dominate, he totally relied on the selling skills of his opponents. Flair was a showman on both sides of the coin!

  • we've got a pier sixer going on now!!!

  • RURAL FREE DELIVERY !!!!!

  • the good old days of wrasslin!!

  • Tell THAT to Vince-IF he's willing to listen!

  • what a bad dye job rich has...look at all of those dark roots

  • @dooktango : He actually dyes his roots black...

  • Ah, the classic Flair flip over the turnbuckle and run to the next one and off the top rope. Later on in his career instead of it working, he would get caught and slammed. Good stuff.

  • Vince needs to take notes, this is what wrestling really is.

  • If Ole turned on Dusty way back in 1980 (check out The Big Turn of 1980 videos) then how & more importantly why did he team with him to face The Road Warriors? Does anyone have info or videos of what brought this about?

  • Tommie, the drunken version of Ric Flair.

    The "poor man's" Ric Flair.

He wanted to be Slick Rick sooooooo bad!

  • You don't have a clue. Tommy did his own thing. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson have nothing but the highest regard for Wildfire watch their shoot interviews.

  • Solie is definitely the master then and now, there will NEVER be another!!!

  • Right! Nobody called a match like Solie.

    nobody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Race's 8th win was not "recognized" by the NWA. Just like Flair is actually a 17 time champ, having lost his belt in Puerto Rico, which led to the creation of the WWC Universal championship.

  • I remember that melee with Ron Garvin and Ted Dibiase. I believe this took place in the summer of 1984 or '85. Watching both Bob and Brad Armstrong getting a piece of Dibiase was so sweet. Bob had suffered some serious facial injuries at the hands of Dibiase. So, it was a measure of revenge for the Armstrongs. Garvin didn't fair so bad himself either. That was when Garvin's tag team partner was Jerry Oates. Great memories! Thakns!

    Ken Palmer

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but did Race actually an 8th NWA title in New Zealand in 84?

  • yeah he did for a few days then flair won it back.

  • thanks I thought so. I read it in flairs book and wasnt so sure. I'm not really shocked that they (NWA) didn't acknowledge it.

  • maan that's just too much goin' on at one time! lol! but i love it

long live CWG and the NWA

  • No Tommy Rich is not dead he wrestles occasionally. But When Ted Debiase unmasked Mr R it was Brad Armstrong, who he unmasked not Scott Armstrong his brother.

  • tommy rich and ted dibiase both sucked..niether one was very good at faking it..they both were whine bag wimps..they were like twin sisters they both were losers..them armstrongs sucked too!!!

  • Tommy Rich did a match back then against Ted Debiase'(sp?) loser had to quit wrestling forever and Tommy lost. Dont recall after that.

  • he lost the loser quit match then returned with a maskedman mr r and beat the crap outta debiase later debiase unmasked mr r but it was scott armstrong wearing the mask and rich was reinstated

  • It was Brad under the mask. Rich went to Memphis and formed the "New Fabulous Ones" This is durring the time Vince bought out WCW's air time on TBS for the WWF. I guess due to complaints, a 1 hour NWA show was put on with Gordon Solie and all the old WCW guys were back.

This show pissed McMahon off and he sold the slot to Jim Crockett who promoted the NWA Mid Atlantic region. I watched it as it happened.

  • yep thats what i meant

  • damn you just took me back in the way back machine , i remember turning on wtbs and seeing the wwf and wondering wtf . and i was out in calif but i grew up on GCW

  • @tjcumbie Actually, Rich hadn't formed the New Fabulous Ones at this time. Rich went to Memphis and he turned heel for the first time in his career as he was managed by Jimmy Hart.

  • @tjcumbie : Actually, I think Turner pressured McMahon to sell because Vince had been sending pre-taped shows in for broadcast when he had promised to provide a live show... Barnett brokered the deal, I believe.

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 it was ga on sat mornings, wwf on sat nights(brief time in studio), and mid south on sundays which was the best.

  • What ever happend to Tommy Rich?

  • Tommy isn't dead. He still works indy shots in Georgia.

  • i heard he kicked the bucket

  • You heard wrong.

  • Ole as a good guy....weird

  • Ole was a part owner & booker at the time of GCW, so he modified his act on the tv shows, he was also 1 of the only bookers who didn't promote himself over the rest of his talent

  • Yeah, one of the few good things that can be said about Ole Anderson. In this respect at least, Ole was a superior booker to Dusty who always insisted on putting himself on top.

  • What a schmoz.

  • back when wrestling was wrestling.

  • why wasn't ric dqed when he went off the top rope?

  • Thank you.

  • Love that "Wildfire" Tommy Rich! Go Tommy go!!!

  • The Best Wrestling Promotion ever! The WWE will never be as good as this!

  • former nwa champ !

  • Georgia on my mind!!!!!
