Ever notice how movie and video game trailers leave you with a more indelible impression than the actual thing? I first heard this (well a somewhat modified version) in the Dead Space trailer and could never stop listening to the song. I played the game; while scary, it didn't stick in my mind. There is just something extremely potent about the feelings of loneliness, sadness, and horrible fear mixed with excitement that this song captures. It's touching in a way that no other song can imitate.
this song is just like you said... BREATHTAKING.. it's just amazing, it transforms everything around me into something so strange and beautiful. AWESOME SIGUR ROS.. there is so much peace in them
i love this song and i never knew a violin string on a guitar could make such a errie and spine tinggling sound! :D i love this band/song especially omg
I love the final part of it so much..THis really blows me away every single time I listen to this song.. It's a great song, really impressive..
I still hope to see them live once in my life..
Maybe this might interest some of you who like slow and melancholic postrock..Some days ago I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia"..All of you should listen to their song "Falling into nothingness"
Absolutely! Why the hell should your race matter? It has nothing to do with what truly inspires you on the inside- especially with music. Music is its own entity. It has nothing to do with the color of one's skin what so ever.
This and Track 1 are my two all time favourite songs... And I'm a metal head.. i surprise the hell out of people when I show them what my favourite songs are.. they're just perfect... only way I can describe them
aparently their new album, which is coming out soon, is less like Takk and the most recent one (won't try to spell all of it!) and more ambient. Wooooo!
i personally prefer sigur ros when they were like this, just really emotional and chilled. i like their new stuff of course but it just doesnt compare to this!
@mteam84234 I know.. i remember hearing there song on vanilla sky early 2002 and thought it was just the score..then in the fall/winter my friend told me about them. i bought the album without listening to it and its been a classic favorite since. i would walk late at night down the street in the middle of winter with this album on my mp3 player, just relaxing and sorting out all kinds of stuff i was going through. music is therapy and sigur ros is like the pure love from God.
It's not that Jonsi perfected the technique, it's that he made it an integral part of the music, not like JP who just went ape-shit with the bow when he got bored.
If your still looking for the song it actually has three names, Untitled 7, Dauðalagið, or The Death Song. I has a really hard time getting the song too, I went out and bought the album which I would suggestion doing anyways. But hope that helps out somewhat!
This album was so great it made search for more (other albums, other artists, other sounds, even poetry) but there was nothing but that album. I don't think Sigur Ros can go beyond it. Not that their new stuff isn't great, but I love the Untitled album the best. Definitely in my top 10.
Well make it then. I really can't see there's much difference, maybe a little in sound quality, but in overall performance by the individual artists,I can't see that they are in any way flawed. But I'm willing to change my opinion if you can prove to me that it is outstandingly bad,I'm not stubborn. And by the way. Don't just say it's bad and not back it up, you're bound to get critism, actually specifically say what you don't like about it so people can make there own opinion. Bad is a bit broad.
listen to: "Sigur Rós Untitled 7 in live Montreux Jazz Festival" - find that one here on youtube. i can't post the link, the comment won't show. but yeah, you watch that one, then come back to this one. the difference is too fucking obvious; i don't even need to explain.
Wait, so what does another live performance have to do with *this* live performance? I can tell that there's a difference, not sure what you're trying to prove.
I dunno why you people have to talk about jonsi being gay all the time, it's really pathetic. And I don't think it would make a difference if they're guys or girls.
the death song...love it

yes, Jimmy Page did it before, but Jon has PERFECTED the technique.
