The Final Cut is a satire or criticism of the British Government and how they treated their troops as they returned from war. "Maggie" is the UK's government (Margret Thatcher) in the album. After World War 2, they didn't have programs to help their troops recover or assimilate back into normal society. I see no similarities between the Final Cut and Syd Barrett. Its strictly Roger Water's criticism of War, Margret Thatcher, and how troops are treated.

  • seriously who are the 2 a-holes that 'disliked'?

  • This is soooo trippy.. especially the talking butt :L

  • The Wall was released in 1979. The movie the wall was released in 1982. When Pink is in the stall, he is singing part of "Your Possible Pasts" off the album, the final cut, which was released in 1983. After this, he sings "The Moment of Clarity", which was released on Roger's solo album in 1984.

Also, why the security guard is washing his hands, you can heard Mc Atmos talking in the backround, accouncing the beginning of The Wall Live 1980 "Is There Anybody Out There".

    Anyways, cheers

  • @mrcodyg2 and the reason incase some people dont know why he is singing the final cut is because in the album it illustrates what happened to Syd Barrett once he was kicked otu and then his mother kept him away from the band because she thought they caused his drug addiction, the final cut talks about a over protective mother

  • i don`t understand what is the wall separeting him ffrom

  • I love this film so much! It's Unbelievable!!!

  • i wonder how long it took to make this movie.

  • The Wall album came out in '79 while this movie came out three years later in 1982.

  • one of the best acid movies ever!!!

  • I saw this in New Jersey on the television by pure happen-chance and I thought it was so weird. I could not interpret the lyrics on most songs nor follow the plot. Now that I watch it a second time I feel more understanding. I just wanted the commercials to end so crazily like never before. I was just a part-time Floyd fan but now they're my favorite band and I'm going to buy this movie some day.

  • @slappydum you are really dumb, for real

  • I've never been able to figure out why the judge is a giant ass.

  • this is the best movie/album Thank you jimmythejelly for taking your time to do this.

  • @lauraketo :-)

  • I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH. And why is Elmer Fudd singing?

  • It's syd's view of the world as he was always tripping balls

  • This is art if I've ever seen it...

  • 0:50 - 1:03 - Possible Pasts from The Final Cut

1:04 - 1:25 - Moment of Clarity from The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking

  • STOOOOOP! Finally, STOP the nightmare of totalitarian society! The point of the movie, after the wall!

  • @imascatmanworld There's a "trial" going on inside of his head.

  • holy fucking mother of masterpiece I Iove u

  • The most crazy part of the whole movie :o

  • @Racoonfan and Musicmaster

I know I can't post links here, but you'll get it. Check out "thewallanalysis(dot)com" . Some on else suggested it to me and it gave the best explination of this album you'll ever read. It's really helpful!!! No weed or anything needed to understand ;-)

  • I blame TV Tropes for my bile fasicnation to look at this.

As for the symbolism, I assume that Pink was put on trial for orginally displaying 'feelings of an almost human nature' but the charges were raised as the brick-people stated their cases, therefore this could be the reason why the judge states his displeasure of how Pink made his 'exquisite wife and mother' suffer.

I cannot explain the part where the judge decided to take a dump on Pink.

  • @raccoonfan. You need to look a little deeper into the symbolism of the animation, the hammers, the wall, the judge etc! Without having to run for the anti-depressants, really have a good look at the film from beginning to end :) (I still don't get the hammers myself).

"Judge, shit on him!", I believe it the fact that everyone of authority, that had a chance to save Pink from him wall or even prevent it's building, "shat" on him in some way, thus keeping him "behind the wall". Any takers?

  • @MusicMaster74 - Thanks for your explenation.

To be honest, I only keep listening to The Wall because of the utter catchiness of the tunes. I'm getting the album when I get enough iTunes song credits, so I can give it a proper listen.

  • @raccoonfan .....No worries. You're about 18-20? That is cause I am an old fart at 36 and grew up with this stuff. Well not really. It was always being played and the "adults" used to sit around, get stoned and think, "this album is a bummer, man". So therefore "The Wall" and it's movie was of limits to me for a few more years!

iTunes! F***! I have it on Record (big black disc), Cassette and CD (The shiny one). Sorry! Just being a smart arse. Pulling the piss @ myself!

  • the trial gave me nightmares for like a week the first time i saw it when i was around 10. Now, im 15 and it is awesome! TY for uploading this!

  • Pause at 5:06 EXACTLY! The airplane (Mother) that flys in has a smile and eyes on it.

  • Does anyone recognize the third song Pink sings in the stall? The first is "Your Possible Pasts" from The Final Cut, and the second is "The Moment of Clarity" from the Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, and eventually he recites the lyrics to "Stop" but I don't understand the third bit at 1:25. I can't make out the first line (Of the ones...???), but the second sounds like "And the ones who were pointing the guns at their backs..." I don't think I've heard that before.

  • I saw this part when I was 4 years old. You had no idea how scared I was, and finally I watched it again today.

  • @HowColdCanYouPlay

i wonder how you managed to turn on the tv and all that. your parents would never let their four year old's join them at such a movie, would they?

  • @SweetSoundOfGrace

Well, I went downstairs while my dad was watching the movie, so that's how.

  • @HowColdCanYouPlay

Jesus this part scared the shit out of me when I was like 10. I mean it brought me to tears cause my parents had it on so loud and idk it just scared me a lot.

  • @sackyhack89

I know exactly what you mean hahaha!

  • HOLY CRAP GUYS !!

at the first minute of the video the soundtrack in the background is Master of Ceremonies recorded at the Is there anybody out there show !!

  • But this movie is many many many times better.

  • did anyone ever notice that Pink's wife's head is shaped like a heart?

  • @NHLman27 Why does her flaming hair snuffs out at 5:05 lol.

  • @eatcarpet 1. Beause she's being cut off, by the mother-in-law of all people, lol. 2nd. Her love for Pink is now gone cuz he's been such a selfish ass this entire time.

  • @NHLman27 Actually, it's his mother, not mother in law. She was overbearing due to the fact that Pink's father died during infancy. He was shot down during WWII.

  • @AaronEsquire yes HIS mother, his WIFE'S mother-in law. I was talking about why his "wife" 's hair flares out, not Pink himself.

  • You guys do know the reason he is an "anus" is because "the law is an ass" right? :)

  • @dillydew3 actually the correct quote is "the law is a ass"

  • it's "an ass" if there is a vowel, you use "an"

  • @dillydew3 Yes, but if you actually read Oliver Twist, they did not use an

  • Oh well you may be right, I never read Oliver Twist.

  • Hammer Nazis

  • The Judge scares the piss outta me.

  • 615 but and balls judge haha awesome

  • hey hes singing a part off the possible past

  • He's also singing an early lyric from "5:11 AM (A Moment Of Clarity)", from Roger Waters' Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Sounds like "Possible Pasts" was still in development here.
